I have suffered from acne my whole life, I was put on biomisin medication for it ( first 50mg then 100 and then 200 and then back down to 50 even though my liver functions all were fine). I am wondering, the doctor who gave me the 200mg was not the usual doctor I go to, she does the early shift or whatever at the surgery, my acne is still with me on my back. The biomisin helped but it never managed to get rid of it ( I’ve had it for 7 years) what are my options ? the doctor I go to treats me in a lot of ways like a child and simply does not listen when I say it does not work.

I've been on 100mg Minicin tablets for about 2 years now,I can honestly say that they keep my face clean but my back is still pretty bad.

Unfortunately acne is one of those things you just gotta try and thole, there's no cure for it so no amount of medication you take will clear it or make it stop,it'll just try to suppress it but it won't completely stop it.

Your doctor sounds like a bit of a dick to be honest,is he/she the only one in the practice? If not then you could ask to speak to one of the others.

Otherwise, you could try a cream called Quinoderm 5,it's available without prescription.I use it if I have bad spots on my back or sore ones,it can sting a bit but I guess that's a good thing.I've always found it to heal bad spots but as I say,it won't totally clear the situation.

Hope this helps any mate :)

There is a cure for acne and works for most people. Its a thing called accutane. My friend had it and it cleared him. He looks totally different now. And no my friend is not secretly me who is too afraid to admit it. Its actually a guy I know. And his skin is now totally clear. Although he does have to use lip balm to keep his lips moisturised from using it he says. But ye he is a hppy bunny now.

Just a thought, not to seem insensitive, but have you considered just living with the acne until it goes away on its' own? I had pretty bad acne when I was younger, 23 now, and it took care of itself, for the record I still have it on my back,i mean it's really not that big a deal, and i'm not a fan of popping pills when youreally don't need medication....which you don't btw

Also I should throw in the obvious that your diet will affect your acne, obviously lots of greasy s will not help, whereas fruit and veg will really help clear your skin up

And this is suppose to combat linux being used for an os ? hmmm Is it not doing the opposite, I mean there giving out an operating system the defies the main purpose of any other operating systems in multitasking.

Do the three apps running together include a firewall or antivirus program running in the background.

I think people in asia will be using a lot more of linux if this kind of crap is it's competition.

I don't have acne as such but my skin ain't great as it seems to get greasy very easily and I get quite alot of whiteheads and blackheads which are a pain in the hole but I deal with it. The worst thing is I find it very hard not to pick at spots when appear even though I know this can just spread the infection and make things worse. If only mirrors were never invented!

Diet-wise I'm pretty good and I eat a good bit of vegatables everyday as well as cooking my own grub and rarely eating processed foods bar the odd thing here and there. I think my glands or something just overproduce oil and I've a solution - Vitamin B5. Been taking it for 2 weeks now and it's really working! Before my skin would go through good and bad patches (no pun intended) and when it was good I knew a flare-up was only a late night away or just around the corner. I bought my B5 pills from www.b5supplements.com.

Excellent site with loads of good info about the subject and B% itself and how it works. Far better than all those script drugs for the problem as there's no real side-effects (at least none that I've noticed so far). :) My skin is almost glowing at the moment and it's getting better everyday! Take the plunge and go for it!

Sorry Angrybadger but you're very wrong there with what you say, acne is NOTHING to do with diet! Obviously sugary and greasy foods can exasperate a problem but the bottom line is it's hormonal and sometimes it never actually goes away for some people. Some people are pretty lucky as well, I know peeps who eat nothing but junk all the time as well as smoking and drinking and they have great skin. My skin is ok mostly but it's getting so much better thanks to B5 (see previous post). I rarely eat junk but skin is prone to getting oily which manifests itself in little bumps here and there, a none-too-noticeable blackheads and the odd nasty pimple!
