I just called Argos to order one of these and they told me the price is 729 :(

yes, its there on the website in black and white, but you can not order via the website, you have to phone up or call into a branch.

having phoned, they confirmed to me the price was 729.

I cannot confirm, however, if the price is good if order is placed in store.

Surely you can argue that it's false advertising... blah-de-blah
and get the price quoted on the site.

    Btw:
Please note that the digital and Freeview features of this TV are not available in the Republic of Ireland
    I assume it doesn't support MPEG4 so...

can anyone confirm if this is Irish Digital TV compatible? I can't find anything definiative on the web.

That may just be generic ARGOS statement!

Samsung LE46C530F1 has stylish looks with its 46 inch screen, and the TV is HD ready, with Full HD 1080p and has a 60,000:1 contrast ratio. The television has a built-in Freeview option, which would let you enjoy Freeview contents, based on your accessibility in your specific region. This television does not support access to the internet and has no built-in satellite. There is one common interface (CI) slot and there are 3 HDMI inputs and one Scart Interface. The LE40C530F1 is equipped with a built-in DVB-C (MPEG4) cable and it has a Picture in Picture tuner. The Hyper Real Engine does a good work in creating an image that is deep and full of color and detail, working along with the contrast and image enhancer.

Good luck to anyone that manages to pick one of these up at the advertised (incorrect!) price.

A DVB-C tuner is only good for cable TV.

Actually just noticed that it was confirmed this TV supports MPEG4 in a previous thread that the OP posted on today.

Anybody else contact Argos re getting it for €530?

I went back into argos as I work next door to them and click in 536/8541 and it is still at 529.95 I ask the staff about it and he said that the price for 536/8541 is 529.95 and I ask him to confirm that 536/8541 is LE46C530,
    He confirm it was

    thanks T125.

Can't get to a store today, but I will confirm if this offer is still available in the morning (I'll be at the doors when theyre opening up:D)

This tv is DEFINITELY mpeg4, end of story.

Amazing bargain too really, assuming you're not used to 100Hz, or a plasma, this will be a fine set

Thats one big tv! Too big for my sitting room i think. Neighbour has a 50 inch in the same location and it takes up the entire space between chimney-breast and wall!

    Mmmmm nice though

I have the 40" version of this tv and it is MPEG4/Irish DTT capable.

Word of advice, if you don't have seperate amp/speakers like I do, the sound from the tv speakers is woefull.
The USB playback feature is brilliant as I've meantioned before though.

I'm afraid Argos must be reading Bargain Alerts.I checked in Limerick at 4.45 and the price was gone up to €769.
I have this model TV for the last few months and it can accept the Irish DTT channels.Brilliant picture on DTT.

As has been posted already 536/8541 is a Samsung LE46C530F1 42 Inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV. The 46" version is the LE46C580

    from the samsung UK websitehttp://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201004/20100408132750703/BN68-02542D-00Eng-0304.pdf

On page 38 where it clearly states that LE46C530 is a 46 " tv. It seems fairly logical that the number following LE is the screen size

    Model Name LE32C530 LE37C530 LE40C530 LE46C530
    Screen Size
    (Diagonal) 32 inches 37 inches 40 inches 46 inches

It could be the case that Argos have got the description and model number wrong, but we'll only ever know if someone manages to get one

Just to add to that, in the description on argos it does say,
46in (116cm) widescreen TV with 116cm visible screen size.
Also if you put the serial with 42" after it it returns 46" tv's for example, http://www.buyitdirect.co.uk/Samsung_LE46C530F1_LE46C530F1WXXU/version.asp

Same as on both counts. Does MPEG-4 and yes the speakers are quite tinny compared to my previous CRT.

Every bloody TV model number includes the screen size in it: LE46C530

Just as my 32" Samsung's model number is LE32B530
Same goes for other brands... LG, Sony, Toshiba etc.

The 42" written after the model on the Argos site is obviously a typo, although that's not to say that the price isn't a typo too!

I visited Argos in Cork Mahon Point yesterday at 5:45pm and checked availability on terminal but price was showing over 700 euro. I guess it's just error in price on website. ehh

They can be bought by ringing 1800 535091. The sales assistant told me there were two different prices and had to clear the lower one with her supervisor which she did. New TV in 10 days.... Cool.
