The PW boards have a podcast? (Sorry still kind of new to the boards :D)

Yeah, where's the podcast? I would've been all over that if I knew such a thing existed. Tell.

+1, surely details of the podcast and upcoming shows should be kept in a sticky thread for all to see? (or there prob is one already, I may be blind, haha)

There's a link to the Wrestlemania show on the podcast thread..

Theres also the other Boards Podcast's are over at www.thebostoncrab.net
We havent done a show in quite a while, but at the time we interviewed Mick Foley, Eddie Edwards, Colt Cabana, Gabe Sapolsky, Jimmy Jacobs, and the infamous mistress of Billy Gunn:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Deadly! There's a few hours for me to pass now. Cheers. Always nice to have an oul mistress on, to veer into Howard Stern-esque territory!

Yeah, where's the podcast? I would've been all over that if I knew such a thing existed. Tell.

TSC, myself & CM_Punked revived the Boards.ie podcast to preview WrestleMania, which can be found here : http://teamshadowclan.podbean.com/

    TheBostonCrab & Walter's podcasts are available here : http://thebostoncrab.net/blog/?cat=50

& of course, yours truly currently does the #1 wrestling video podcast in the world, OSW Review :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Ah, very good. Cheers. Actually the link in the above post wouldn't work so I'm glad to hear these now. How regularly do you do your ones?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Episodes of OSW Review drop about every 3 weeks, depends on when everyone's free (and video editing takes an eternity!). I should probably label it's boards.ie thread better, lol. If you have any feedback (positive and negative) about the show & ways i could improve it, i'd love to hear it.

If chatting about wrestling on a podcast is something you'd be interested in, hit up TeamShadowClan ;)

With all the sh!te that's going on in the wrestling world at the moment i think we should re-revive the 'cast. Make it more of a regular thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Get onto TSC, I'm sure he'd be up for it. You only need 2 for a podcast! (or even 1 regular and 1 guest).

I'm gonna split this thread to give it some attention :)

Hehe, I was planning on trying to get another done when I got back from holidays. To reiterate, I literally got a job the week after recording the Mania one after sitting at home for 18 months, so it became a bit difficult to do given all I had on my plate. It was just my luck that just as we got it off the ground, I got my first ever real paying job :P I ended up editing that one together between classes in school in my classroom :P

Maybe Episode #2 could coincide with the 1,000th Episode of Raw? Record it the Tuesday morning/afternoon/evening after it (I'd be back on the 13th, three days before the episode, so just after it could be used to discuss the celebration show itself), discuss our favorite moments in Raw history? Maybe work out a thing where people can send me comments about their favorite moments, read them out and discuss them?

I like that idea, anything that avoids me making ridiculous predictions. :pac:

If you ever need a guest/guest host, I'm only a message away! :D

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Ok, so me and Punked were saying we can record on Tuesday 17th July, which is...
    • The morning after Raw #999, meaning we'll have an idea of what to expect out of the 1000th episode.
    • A few days after I get back from holidays, giving me time to set things up...

So what I'll ask at this stage is that if there's anyone who wants to join us on that day, who has the equipment to record (a headset and Audacity basically), drop me a PM pr leave a message here. We've not set a specific time on that day yet so that's still flexible.

Even if you're not up for actually talking during the podcast, we want you to be involved :D This is a podcast for the whole board, so we're inviting people to PM me your favorite Raw moments. Ideally, we'd be looking for a few lines on the moment/night/match/angle in question, or even just a bit of what watching Raw over the years has meant for you. PM me what you'd like read out and discussed on air and we'll include it on the podcast.

(If a Mod could alter the topic title to reflect we're looking for people's submissions, I'd appreciate it...)

What kind of headset would be needed?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Any that can record audio really. Obviously, the better the sound quality, the better, but I know I had a pretty bad one for the Mania one. I can edit out background noise to an extent, so it's not that we're asking for major investment in a head set :P

A Rock Band/Guitar Hero mic works if you plug it into the PC. Any usb mic. And any set of headphones to plug into the PC so your mic doesn't pick up other peoples' voices.

Whats your setup like, Jay? I'd imagine all the OSW guys round a table going by how it sounds when i'm watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

That's exactly it. I have a blue yeti mic that has a different range settings, and we sit around my living room table. I haven't sorted optimal settings yet, I just sound check each time when we're recording. Getting them to sit still & give me sound levels is a bloody nightmare!

Quick bump before I head off on my trip back home. Haven't actually recieved any PMs on favorite moments from the show so hoping people are just waiting till the weekend :P

    WWE+Raw+1000th+Episode+Poster.jpg

Thanks to Jay for giving me the go ahead on making this a new and separate topic.

Over in the podcast topic, I asked people to PM me if they wanted to have something read on the upcoming PW Boards Podcast with regards their favorite moments in Raw history. So far, we've got.....0 messages. :pac: So yeah, I thought it might be a good idea to change things up.

I realise not everyone might care about the podcast, or invest time in submitting things/have things read out and discussed. So instead of sending in paragraphs or the likes to read out, I thought we'd do something a bit more general. I thought a topic like this would probably pop up sooner or later anyway, so here's what I was thinking.
To vote for the best and worst moments in the entire history of Monday Night Raw, PM me your top three favorite and hated moments of the show.

Doesn't have to be a big write up, doesn't have to be anything person. Just a list. Top three. Bottom three. I'll count the votes on Tuesday afternoon and we'll announce the results at the weekend before the big episode airs. I'll post the results in written format (with spoiler warnings) for people who want to read and discuss the poll results without bothering with the podcast (but it will be awesome, so you should listen :pac:). Probably try and link Youtube video links as well.

And we'll discuss it in the podcast as well. But this way, if you aren't interested in the podcast, there's still a forum for you to discuss and remember/lament on the best moments of Raw...
(Closing date/Vote count will take place Tuesday afternoon)

Is that more attractive of a proposition to people?

Also, if people have any other ideas for the 1000th show and celebration ideas, I'm up for helping in any way I can :)

Just wondering where would this be recorded, what time would this be recorded and roughly how long will it be?

Sorry for so many questions only my appearance depends on the answers!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

We record over Skype (I know face to face would be good (see Jay's videos) but that's not possible on a larger scale for us). Time will depend on what time suits everyone (I'll PM people tomorrow to check) and lenght is how long we talk for and is thus adjustable to suit.

    Also, for people who didn't see it;

some oddly evaded my mind prior to reading this, embarrassingly so in some cases for instance DX invading WCW

same here, found the worst moments harder though as they aren't type of moments I want to remember usually and can be a blur of just terrible angles, like Katie Vick or Mizarks baby hand

The nature of 1000th episodes, over 2000 hours of material, is that it's impossible to remember them all.

That said, I've got my top three best and worst moments picked out already :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

    I've mine picked. :D

Nah, PM them to me now, so I can compile it into a final results list. Of course we'll be talking about ones which didn't make the top 3 as well :P

That said, I can already see one or two running away with this...

Favourite moment is stone cold and triple h feuding with undertaker and Kane (the power trip v the brothers of destruction) and Austin gettin glass in his eye and him and triple h getting into the ambulance and undertaker turning out to be the driver, I can still remember it like it was yesterday, as undertaker turned around and said two words me and my brother still say to each other "hello boys"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Worst moments for me are Mae Young's hand birth and Hornswoggle being McMahon's bastard son.

EDIT Jesus, just thinking of Mark Henry having to go through that entire angle, the man deserved every last bit of his title run for that alone. :P

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

We are recording at 4, so we'll be closing the voting around three. Thats not to say, of course, we can't still discuss said moments in this topic :P

    XD

    (*will make sense on Friday*)

Thanks to Mitch, Hashtag and Punked for recording that. Good fun. I'll edit it together and have it up Friday morning hopefully, so people can listen to it over the weekend before the 1000th Raw airs.

And thanks to everyone who PMed me votes. The list was brilliant and offered plenty of topics. :)
