Ah brilliant. While I have you - don't suppose you know is there anyway I can change the amount of posts that show per page?! :P

No, you can't change the number of posts per page like on the main site.

just like SP says there sully, i'd imagine it has something to do with page loading times and what not as i'd say they were thinking about people accessing the touch site on a mobile data connection, although it would be a good feature request suggestion!

a prime example this evening was the speed at which i could browse the touch site with a galaxy s+ versus a nokia x6 with the same wifi connection, galaxy was nice and fast, nokia x6 was what i now realise is an awful long time for a page to load! :(

I thought m.boards.ie had more posts per page than the touch tbh. Maybe im wrong!

i havent been on m.boards myself in a while, but i imagine they could do that because there was less throughput of data given that it was more text based as opposed to how graphics intensive the touch site is, plus navigating on the m.boards on a touch phone is a nightmare! :(

Iv been doing it for a while, its not to bad I found especially with Google Chrome. As the text is small, when clicking links which are side by side google zooms in and lets you select then.

*curses nokia browser an opera for their useless zoom functionality* :D

even browsing the full site on the galaxy s+ there earlier with the built in browser (is that chrome mobile?), it was a breeze, then went back to opera, slow as... well, you get the idea... :D

Chrome is only available on Android 4, at least that's the case on my SII. Much nicer than the stock browser.

For years though, I used the mobile site on my Nokia mobile. E71. Its a great development as is the touch, but the extra adds are annoying (though I know why they are needed).

Should there be a pop up when a new PM is received? I'm not getting one

far as i know slidey that's a feature request that has yet to be implemented on the touch site, it does pop up though if you're browsing the full site on mobile.

i think the site devs said it would be included in the next iteration of boards touch though.

@sully, the samsung galaxy S plus isnt officially getting ice cream sandwich, and there's no official cyanogenmod 9 rom available for it, im just waiting til the unofficial port is perfected before i install it so im stuck with the stock gingerbread samsung rom for now... :(

Sorry for bringing this up again but is this "arrow" contained in the email alert you receive to let you know theres new replies to a thread? I can't seem to locate it in the emails and end up at the start of the thread each time.

That said I do recall getting to the last post the odd time but I don't do anything different so the link must be different.

The little blue arrow isn't in the emails, it's on the forums after the thread titles. It's just like the one above ofter your name in this quote.

I can't find it after the thread title or I can't see one on the quote in your reply either. I'm using an DHD running Android 3.5 viewing Touch boards. Am I still been a complete knob or is it something specific to my device / Android?

Hi Danny,

I'm just looking to get taken to the most recent (unread) post in a topic when I receive an email alert to let me know there's been some activity on a post I'm following.

When I click on the link in the email on my DHD I just get taken to the very start of the topic even though it may be a few years and pages old. Then I have to scroll to the end of the 1st page (as there's no page numbers at the top) and click on the last page and scroll down.

The posters above seem to have a workaround (the blue arrow referred to) but I can seem to find this shortcut.

Danny, any talk of replacing images with CSS to increase load speed. And perhaps making the forums list expand/collapse so it's easier to scroll to a letter?

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

increase load speed, i presume you mean decrease speed :D

Is there an easier way to post YouTube vids beside just cutting and pasting in the tags?

One X seems to want to highlight and paste over some of the tag when I long press. AH is being deprived of my panda wrestling vids.

An YouTube or pic link could easily be added to the reply box screen. It's really annoying having to type out the code on a mobile.

The Boards.ie touch site is still very much in beta; plenty of room for improvement :) I believe it'll be up for a feature review some time in the future, so be sure to keep those ideas coming.

Hey there,

The email sends you a link to the full Boards.ie site. Then when we detect you're on a mobile device we send you off to the touch site. I'm guessing some stuff gets lost in translation and you land in at the start of the thread.

I'll see if I can confirm this and get it resolved for you. As far as I'm aware, there is no link in a thread on touch to bring you to the last unread post :)

Danny

be really nice too if the devs were able to work out a way to make the youtube code more efficient to reduce page loading times. i know neil has looked at it but it's fairly annoying the page loading times first off, and then you cant even play the video! :(

actually an

There are a number of factors at work on that one.

#1 - The iframe/HTML5 solution that works without flash has a bug in chrome that results in the video getting shoved half off the page when you right click it. Not an issue for phones since there's no right click, but a major issue for Google Chrome users (our biggest browser).

#2 - The video megathreads pages slow to an absolute crawl with > 10 iframe videos on it. I shudder to think how a phone browser will handle it.

It's not gone off the radar, but those are the issues we face :)

that reminds me actually, it'd be nice on the touch site if we were able to do a "mark this forum read", although i understand there are screen real estate restrictions, maybe just a button would do... :o

Had a look over the last few pages but couldn't find anything. On an iPhone 4 using the touch site sometimes I get server not found error. I can load other sites fine and it happens on wifi or mobile
Any ideas?

Just noticed this morning that on the "latest posts"page I could see a thread posted in the "Reported Posts" forum.

I'm not a mod so probably shouldn't be able to see this, the link brought me to an error message so I couldn't read the thread but I could read the title of the offending post, name of the poster and name of the reporter.

I have a screen shot that I can PM to a dev later if it .

Twitter do a nice sideways swipe action to provide extra functions without sacrificing space. It'd be nice to see that sort of stuff be implemented here too.

Is there a limit to the size of the options on a poll to make the piechart of the results?
First two screenshots have 12 choices and appear fine, third has 17 and the piechart doesn't form up properly.
Far from a tragedy or a serious issue. I presume that it is just that it runs out of screen space somewhere between 13 and 17 sections.

Seeing a weird font sizing issue with Chrome browser for Android.
If you are reading a thread the font size of a quoted reply and the reply to it will be smaller than a regular reply.

Chrome for Android/ICS 4.04/Galaxy Nexus

I just noticed today that if I post something from my phone and then go on the site with my laptop, that post doesn't show my sig.
But when I post from the laptop, my sig is always in the posts.
Has this always been the case or is it just happening to me?

Edit; Should have mentioned, when I am using the touch site I am using iPhone 4s iOS 5.1.1

Any chance we could get a refresh/reload/get-new-posts button next to the follow & post reply buttons at the bottom of a thread? For fast moving threads its a bit of a pain trying to refresh the page and keep up with it; not sure what other mobile browsers are like but with the default android browser you have to scroll up the page a little to get the tool bar showing, click on the icon to show the menu and only then press refresh. Those 3 steps might not seem like much but when your doing it constantly its a bit annoying.

I accidentally pressed unfollow last night in a forum and got the message to say I was unsubscribed. So I pressed follow and was told I was subscribed again but it didn't work. I had to go back to the forum and reload the page and press follow a 2nd time. It's happened before so I'm guessing it's a glitch.

Quick question - previously hitting 'Forums' would take me to a list of my forums (including the private ones I have access to), now it takes me to a list of every regular forum in alphabetical order, minus my private ones.

Any reason oforthe change, or is there an easy way to get the page that lists just my forums and not all x hundred?

sounds like a well known at this stage permissions bug Xavi, can you still access your private forums on the touch site?

i was able to access them on the desktop site, but not the touch site. there's a thread on it here somewhere.

found it-

The problem for you xsiborg is that your permissions table used for the touch site was saying you had no permission to access the private forums. When Xavi6 reported his issue I checked the permissions table and found he actually had permission to view his private forums. They're related all right, but not the same problem :D

In any case, I do believe you should be able to see private forums now Xavi6 :)

Is it just me or when others are using the touch site does hitting the last post feature consistently bring you to the first post on some threads only. This thread for example always goes to the first posts, the same with the pets picture thread in the animals & pets forum.

Same thing happens to me a lot too but its usually when clicking on a link in the topic reply notification email.

Are you sure the page is actually getting to load entirely? i.e. if you leave it do it's thing for a few minutes does it eventually jump down the page?

I'm thinking that the high image count may be causing the problem. YLYL is always a pain for this reason

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
