    Firstly mining,

    http://www.wowhead.com/?zone=3711 - Sholzar basin.

This place is great for mining because of its circle map layout,
    SholazarBasin+mining.jpg

Many people fly around mining here but if you come here at off peak times you could get stacks and stacks of titanium ore if your lucky,

Another great quick money maker is if you are into PvP, you can buy epic uncut gems in Org at the PvP vendor and get a JC to cut them into what ever is selling for most,
    epicgemhonor.jpg

more to come just looking at the layout

the time it takes to farm 10k honor, you can make more from doing daily's than the price you could get for an epic gem.

BUT, if you already have 10k honor....

What kinda gold am I looking at here? What other mats would I need?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,675 ✭✭✭TechnoPool

200-250 per rub cut, depends on the realm

depends on your realm price Bold Cardinal Ruby (20 str) sell for about 300 gold on my realm

all you need is a Cardinal Ruby and an JC

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,677 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Nah. I wouldn't do it for that. I'd prefer to keep my honor for something I can use myself. For a second there I though you were talking at least 4 digits.

Also doing the odd Wintergrasp here and there would give a nice increase in HP to spend on gems.

My money tips are im a mine/JC so just go around the basin getting nodes and selling the gems. never seem to be low on money.

But with the amounts of close porximity daily quests you will never be without gold

there's plenty of ways to make easy money.

    FOR EXAMPLE:

i did this a week or two ago. Bronze was selling for around 28g a stack, but copper was only 8g and tin was 12g so 20g to make 2 stacks of bronze, which netted me around 34g profit per. Sold around 60 stacks of bronze doing this then i got bored.

    Herbalism/Alchemy

Frost Lotus sell for at least 60g, sometimes 75g+ and I can pick up roughly 10 per hour farming herbs. Wintergrasp is handy as you'll sometimes get straight up Frost Lotus spawns.

If you're specialised Elixir Master on your Alchemist then 10 x Frost lotus (plus the other herbs that usually sell for crap on their own) = at least 20 x Flasks of whatever, selling for at least 30g each and sometimes a lot more, depending on your server. If elixir mastery procs you can get a shed load of flasks more than you bargained for. Bit of a gamble as to if it's worth making flasks at all to sell or just sell the herbs on their own, just keep an eye on the AH before you make your choice.

Eternal Life (which drops from the herbing) selling for around 15 to 30g per eternal and you'll end up with roughly 15 to 20 eternals per hour of farming.

Anyway, with all the herbs/eternals and/or flasks you'll be looking to at least 1,000g per hour of just flying around picking herbs. If you gamble on making flasks and get a few lucky elixir mastery procs, that amount of gold can easily double but at least you'll end up with roughly the same amount of gold if you don't get any procs.

Mining is a bit hit and miss at times as ore/bar prices flucuate too much due to the amount of people constantly undercutting each other all the time. With flasks at least, you need to have gone through a bit of a process to get elixir mastery (can be solo'd easily though if you know what you're doing) and hence not as many gold farmers or whatever go to the trouble, they just usually sell raw mats and ore/bars are the easiest thing to sell for little effort.

One thing I will say about ores is that Mithril Ore is both the easiest to farm and sells for the highest price when converted to bars for the smallest effort required. Most servers will probably sell stacks of Mithril Bars for 100g at least. Takes about 10 minutes to get about 40 Mithril ore just doing a quick run around the Badlands, which is by far the best place to farm for it, small area, circular, straight run around, easy stuff.
You'll also find fools selling stacks of Mithril Ore for like 20 or 30g, just buy it, convert to bars and put back up on the AH for 100g+

Just don't ever flood the AH with stuff, take your time, don't put too much up at the same time.

Most big guilds will buy full 20 stacks of Flasks on raidnights, Monday, Wednesday and Friday seem the best days to sell full stacks of Flasks, usually sell within the hour of you putting them up. Saves all the hassle of splitting stacks to sell on their own.

That's how I make my gold anyway, that and cutting the most wanted gems with JC from prospecting whatever ore I'm arsed to mine.

I love it when that happens, managed to level a lot of my mining that way.

We talking endgame, or levelling here?

What I've found while levelling (which I seem to do a lot of...)

    Loot everything.

Install crapaway/selljunk for vendoring greys automatically.

Only vendor greys. Auction everything else.

Gathering profs>>Crafting professions. It's cheaper to buy an item than it is to level your skill to the point where you can make it. And the best levelling gear is usually in dungeons anyways, so why buy it in the first place?

Consider cloth prices before levelling First Aid, bandages rarely sell as well as the raw mats. Same goes for Cooking.

Hit Refresh before posting items to get the most current price.

Post auctions on Friday, as prices are higher over the weekend.

The AH is for selling, not shopping. Avoid neutral/goblin auction houses

Create a bank alt. Every mail you send them has 12 storage slots, and mail can be returned for free. So it's cheaper than bank slots.

Greed on everything in instances. Nobody likes a ninja, but why pass up the chance for profit?

Only buy what you really need. Things like enchants, gems, scopes are usually pointless, as you'll replace gear before you get any value out of them. Only buy those spells/talents from your class trainer that are relevant for your spec.

Dont forget RE Gems from honor. 30 Stone Keeper Shards are 2k honor....

    ... I had almost 2000 before i realised this...

I'd agree with most of your stuff 2 Espressi, but there's a couple of things I'd do differently myself

When levelling this is true, but at max level crafting professions are far better at letting you control markets than gathering ones. Having a mix of both accross your various chars works best.

That depends on the goods, some prices go up and some go way down. The important thing though is to spend a few weeks monitoring the AH and paying attention to trends like this.
    2 Espressi wrote:

If you mean avoid impulse buying I'd agree, but actual 'trading' is the only true way to make bucketloads of gold. Finding one or more markets and controlling them can take time to set up, but once done provides more cash than anything else.

Definitely, levelling without one is headwrecking as your bags/bank will just be crammed all of the time. Best part is, there doesn't actually seem to be a limit to the amount of mails you can have in your mailbox. Even if it says your mailbox is full (usually the case on my bank alt), you can still send stuff and it'll sit there until you clear the mailbox out again, then reappear just after.

You'd be better off getting something like Auctioneer which will do the splitting/batch posting for you, it'll save you a ridiculous amount of time.

hey aleast my thread hasent turned into a flame fest directed at me

Easiest way to make gold in this game (At least for me) is alchemy. I've got transmute spec on 3 characters (2 of which are lvl 70's). I transmute blue gems (Mats cost about 25g on my server for the transmute) and in a typical week i get roughly... 25-30 gems, they sell for about 200-240g each (30stam). Netting me roughly 5k a week. I've been doing this for about... 3 or 4 months now.. so yeah.... im not short of gold :)

I don't think I'd be doing that while levelling, though I'm looking forward to trying it out at 80. Should be pretty doable with a small pop realm like Sunstrider though. Same for the crafting profs. There's a load of functionality in Auctioneer I haven't explored yet, but it's on the To Do list...

I wonder could you set up an alt to play the AH, or use your bank alt, to buy in bulk and resell a little higher, just enough to covers fees and a small profit? I know Bliz were against this in te past, but they've softened their stance of late.

Hmm I have been making Ametrines / Dreadstones with my alt. Must look at the blue gems again.

Do you get them cut before you post them up (i think cuts on our server are about 10G)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

I think it really depends on the server, the mats for the blue gem is the cheapest on mine and sell for nearly as much as ruby's. It helps that one of my chars has JC so i dont have to pay for cuts. Even still, selling them uncut is still a great way to make gold. A stack of 10 sell for about 1600 uncut.

Same server or not, it doesn't matter to me one bit.

There's no secret behind making gold. Some are just good at it and some are not.

As a poster above said, gems are a great way to make gold, but I have other professions which help me a lot.

Blacksmithing - Maxed out - Not a big money maker at all.

Mining - Maxed out - I used to grind ores, but now I am not too interested in that.

Herbing - Maxed out - Grind for herbs, make pots or just sell straight up.

Inscription - I made a lot on the nobels decks. About 5K+ a deck, then you have many other cards to sell too.

Jewelcrafting - Maxed out - Excellent money maker, do the daily every day, only buy the recipes you need or sell well. Do NOT buy all recipes. Prospecting ore can also prove worthwile, sometimes :)

Enchanting - 380 - Only leveled this for disenchanting the random boe's I got. Great money maker. You can make items with black smithing or jewelcrafting then disenchant them.

Sell everything, loot all corpses, play the ah a little, do your dailies. There are plenty of things worth a lot of gold in wow, you just have to find a way to get those items.

  • Registered Users Posts: 933 ✭✭✭Shougeki

Speaking of dailies, what dailies do people bother doing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,677 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Which profs do you reccomend on the first run out Xavier? Poor Cheesebread is still just a Miner/Skinner.

None at all. I used to be able to make loads with my tailor/JC and Herb/alchemist on the same realm. Now im ****ed with my hunter and DK as neither of them have money making profs. Will probably move over my priest and lock soon before im flat out broke :( And i need to buy the 2 person mount for 12k by the 1st of march. Really would be easier to just buy gold since its at what 3e per 1000 or something crazy, but then i dont fancy risking a CC or my account.
