Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tbh I think Hanley already answered your question-the dosage suggested is probably as much to do with increasing your usage as what you need. 5g once or twice a day might be all that's needed. If you're unsure about it you're better off reading up on it a good bit or leaving Creatine alone for a while longer. (imo of course)

Cheers,I've done quite abit reading, some people saw good gains using the recommended dosage some didn't.I suppose it's just different for different people.I've put on 6lbs since monday, whatever that means!

anyone tell me why its recommended to take two 16g servings of this stuff and only 5g of mono(maintaince) per day??????????

I think the lads already touched on thisbut from what I can tell:
a 16g serving probably contain 5g of creatine monohydrate + 11g's of carbs or something else.

From my experience taking anything more than 5g of creatine mono at a time can be rough on your stomach... If your loading try not to take it on an empty stomach or split it into two doses.

You don't need to load on creatine despite what the instructions say. It's unneccessary.

it's six of one half a dozen of the other, after a month both methods will reach the same level of saturation but the loading is quicker

Spot on. Most people can't handle the loading phase so I don't see the point in "rushing" the process, just take 5 - 10grams a day when neccessary and you will be fine. And don't bother with that CEE stuff, it's not proven to be more effective than Mono.

According to people on other forums and bsn (how reliable there info is I don't know),you don't get water retention, because cee is absorbed better than mono, upon reading the label again I found that there is 3g of creatine in a serving, the rest is made up of carbs, glutamine and small amounts of various other things, the reason why it's a smaller dose of cratine is because "cee latches to it's transporter better than mono therefore more absorbtion, and in turn no bloat because it is absorbed and not left outside the muscle".would I be anyway right in saying that?

has anyone organised a bulk buying plan where we could all chip in and get some real discounts?

Would be an idea if people were in a gym together, but the postage on myprotein is now very reasonable, only £6.95 and that is up to 26kg. I now see if your items are over £100 postage is free.

Meeting up people is hassle, and the stuff can weigh a ton, you also risk people backing out. Somebody here bought chinup bars before in bulk to save on shipping & get a discount and I think some people pulled out so they were stuck with them.

Creapure's liek the gold standard monohydrate afaik. Probably worth springing the extra for if it's not too much.

started going to the gym in january to lose some weight an dtone up. started at 13.stone and down to 11.8. I have been looking to take some protein shakes to help build better defination. is there anything that some one could suggest to give better muscle tone while not putting on weights.

routine has a lot of cardio in it with free weights and dead lifts.

    would be grateful for advice

If you gain muscle it's highly likely that you will put on weight because muscle is heavy. You will be in better shape overall though, if you do weights you should use your eyes to judge your progress instead of the scales. Another advantage to gaining muscle is that it will burn fat itself.
Protein supplements such as whey will improve muscle gains if your not already getting enough in your diet. You should choose something like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey as it's relatively low in calories

(Someone really should sticky an answer to the I want to loose weight, build muscle and take protein question, it just gets asked so often)

Probably right (not too cranky, well maybe a few too many beers, just fairly sure i've answered this question alot lately but I won't not answer it cause it's worth knowing, it's gotta be one of the most frequently asked questions though)

    Guys,
    Serious question here ->
I have been feeling absolutly wiped out after training. I'm looking to keep up the intensity on both weights and MMA, so I've been thinking about a recovery drink. Also due to all the injuries I've been picking up I've been thinking about taking Glutamine (also take cod liver oil and Glucosamine for the joints).
Basically I wanted to know if this is a good recovery drink PWO that will hit all the above - something I can alternate with Whey on my rest / weights days (don't feel so wiped after weights).
The Supp factories recovery seems to tick all the boxes but just looking for some constructive advice.
    Cheers, Hail.

I used RAM for a while, found it quite good.

Now I use ON AfterMax which I find better.

I tried the SuppFactory stuff, must say found most of thier products below average.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,589 ✭✭✭Hail 2 Da Chimp

I've only really tried their Whey (you can't go wrong with Whey really). The Recover is only €20 also so seems like a bargin for all thats in it.

Where did you buy the After Max how much did it set you back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,567 ✭✭✭mloc

I got it from nutritionconnection.ie. It worked out about €1.70 a serving, but has 5 g of creatine in it so saved on that (which I would have otherwise added myself).

Bit of a novice question here - ive only just started taking MM Promax - chocolate flavour, thing is it tastes rank with water, its lightly easier to stomach with Milk but on the side of the container it says the casein in the milk will slow the effects of the protein - is this a negative thing?

Some will mix with milk when taking it at night time, this provides the slow release during your sleep, others will mix with milk in the morning too for the slowed release. But immediately after a workout many want the protein absorbed as quick as possible so take with water so it goes to work sooner.

Some will buy casein protein for the slowed effect, but it is usually twice the price, also if you are buying separate small tubs it usually costs more per kilo.

Personally I much prefer it with milk, I drink before, during and after workouts all with milk.

Looking to get some unflavoured whey to throw in to a few different recipes. Any of the shops in town sell it or am I better off ordering online?

I know people say that it's best to rely on natural food.

But I am just considering getting supplement for when I am wrecking after lifting weights, and want something to eat.

    Could someone please recommend one:

    Pro-Power Whey Protein

    Promax

    Thanks

yeah me too. im trying to do 3 sessions a week in the gym with 4 miles of running each session and then an hour of heavy weights. mon, tuesday, thursday. im taking wed & frid off each week and running 8 miles sat and sunday. been doing this since jan and shifted about 1.5 stones. tyring to get leaner and hopefull this protein will help

  • Registered Users Posts: 86 ✭✭Deano045

was wondering which would be the best type of protein to use, ill be using it as a post work out drink straight after training, and my training consists of cardio and weight training, my goal is a lean body and definition, so im building muscle while trying to reduce body fat,

i read that should get a protein with little or no carbs, but do i not need carbs straight after training, and do they not help in the recovery stage

and if any one has websites for buying the stuff, id be happy to have a look,

    Thanks

    Hi All,

This is my first post so be kind. I used to take no xplode as a pre workout then I found out it was banned over here so stopped then I tried no shotgun but did not find it as good but I have been looking in the internet and found white flood made by controlled labs. I am just wondering if any one has tried it and is it ok to take it over here.

Hi, I am currently training about 3-4 times a week cycling and running. I am 5 8"
and 11 stone, I lost about 17lbs in the last 3 months. I still have a bit of belly, so if I lose a few more pounds it does not bother me.But I don't want to become too skinny and I want to build some muscle, so I am doing some weights now too. but I am not to sure about supplements, I was told that after a workout I need to take a protein shake to help recovery time and stop muscle lose. I don't want to bulk up or look like Arnie:D , but I would like to look lean and maybe develop a bit of a six pack etc. I was looking at Myprotein.co.uk, and Whey protein but unsure if this is what I need, as this is all new to me

    thanks.
