My milestones are a little more modest grinding away at T5. I got my first 5 kills in one game. And a Ace (1) in another oddly enough only with 1 kill but a lot of damage thanks to the M4 DERP.

Blew 25k free exp last night to go from the Charioteer to the Conway yesterday evening and it's night and day in experience. The Charioteer is ok but between no armor and literally the worst team matching known to man (as in I could consistently do nothing and our team would be down 5 tanks in 3 min game after the game starts while consistently ending in the top 3 in damage) netting me a 40% win rate with it. The conway at least can bounce every so often and simply feels a better fit; I'm so happy I did it last night.

Same here. I'm having lots of fun and gaining credits and XP, derping around in my Covenanter with the four shot mag and my Cromwell.
Bought the Caernarvon, RU251 and M41 Bulldog a while back, but my skills and experience definitely don't get the best out of those tanks yet.

Then there's T2 and T3 for a bit of seal clubbing.

Haven't run a premium account since I first joined, although I bought some gold and silver as a Christmas pressie to myself and I'm still having lotsa fun and rarely running games at a loss.

Might be time to try out the VK2801 as I skipped it months ago, to get the RU251 when it was added

I'm finding the grind a bit too much. Takes forever. On some tanks its no fun either.

Premium account helps and it's not terribly expensive for a great game imo. However some lines hurt and seemingly with little payoff. The French HT BDR etc are grim and once maxed you're just sick of them and dump them. I'm up to the mlle 45 and it's maxed and it's as **** as the ones that came before it.... I'm really struggling with the UK heavy line as well. They're just slow and pointless. I usually just feel like free xp to the enemy when I drive them.

UK & French lines up are quite specialized; for new players I'd recommend Russian or German as they are pretty much what it says on the tin so to speak.

amx elc.. put a female crew in it, so much fun, regularly getting 10k wn8 games in it.. its class with a good crew.

e50, best tank i have played in the game, have 180 games and about to get my second MOE in it.. 2100 average damage, more than any of my t10s slightly. its an absolute beast of a tank. have the e50m unlocked, gonna get the credits and buy that and put my 3 crew from my vk3001d into that. it bounces a lot, has a lazer accurate gun... clicked with this more than any other tank.

hadnt been grinding any tanks, have left all my t9 heavies in garage lately.

just enjoying playing tanks that are fun, wot can be a lot of fun when grind free!

Stated by Storm today:

Developers are now working on replacing the FV4202 with Action X Centurion. In the end WG managed to receive proper drawings. There will most likely be free FV4202 for current FV4202 owners (tied to a mission somehow).

Oh crap. I got the Caernarvon, thinking the Chieftain was going to be top tier in that line. Duh.
Looks like I'd better get grinding the British mediums instead. Good thing I love my Cromwell

e50 just bullies when its top tier. bought the e50m, its cool, but wouldnt sell my e50 to buy it, thats a keeper.

Completed my personal goal of unlocking & buying every normal tier X TD on Saturday night (got all normal TDs and heavies now, yay!) with the 4005. I have to say there were some piss poor tanks in the two UK TD trees but both tier 9s were excellent.

The FV4005 is what you'd expect; 26s reload HESH shells that can do over 1.8k damage (the 263 I hit was not happy) but usually around 1.1k AP / 600 HE / 900 HESH (if you can't get them in the side/behind). I even had a medium ask me if I was a arty when I one shot him and going up against a Rhm is always fun. Overall though I don't really see a use for it as anything will pen it and with 1850 hp it dies once it's spotted but as a derpa derpa tank it may see use every so often.

Asian server is doing a mission, log in daily and get 15k exp (which is obviously easy with multipliers) for 30 days and you get a free FV201. You can also get slightly more xp on the weekends but you need to do more battles.

Seems the requirements also aren't as harsh this time in that each day you basically get a token and these tokens can be bought in the shop for $1.31 so as RL always gets in the way occasionally for a small subsidy I should still get a free T7 heavy in 30 days. Nice.

I'd speculate that the EU will get it later, possibly September. With the Tankfest mission to rent a Tog, and the 4 anniversary and free tank in August, I suspect they're just pushing it out a bit to spread around the earnable/free tanks.

Nope; I simply don't see us getting it full stop since the EU team are known to be incompetent to the extreme and they are happy with the current numbers logging in (thinking forward is not exactly their strong point).

There I was, playing with a couple of platoon mates last night. Doing OK on the win rate and we decided to make a T29 platoon the last game of the evening. It was looking good and I thought we had a reasonable chance to win the game. Then the team damaging tossbags appeared. That crap really winds me up. And the fact that WG appear to be doing nothing about it.
Have a look at the replay here. It wasn't a great game by me at all because I Was put off by the idiot shooting me at the start of the game. We did make it difficult for him afterwards but he deserved it.
I also received insults from him after the game in chat, see attached.
It's infuriating sometimes.

Hi the people on the Xbox thread sent me over here, I started playing wot on the 360 again ahead of the Xbox one launch shortly, I really struggled on it as im not that great at it, i only play four or 5 hours now and again, i was wondering was there anyone who plays on the Xbox who could give pointers to me or is there any where I can get advice, tried YouTube videos but a lot of them in French or German,

I think the Xbox version plays quite a bit differently. For the PC game the videos of Quickybaby and The Mighty Jingles seem to be useful.

I still don't get WOT. Some nights a specific tank/gun combo is deadly accurate. The next night the same tank/gun can't hit anything. Or it can't penetrate one night but fine the next. Very inconsistent.

I don't think there's many XBox players about, it's pretty much all the PC edition.

But we may be able to give some general advice at least.

What tanks are you currently playing with for a start?

That's great ant advice greatly appreciated, I'm in tier one or two on Vickers tank, its slow and poor armour protection

Ah, so barely starting out entirely. Most of the tier 1 or 2 tanks came from the 1920's, and they all have poor armour, and often machine guns.

Now, some of this isn't really applicable when starting out. The early tanks were little more than converted tractors at times (literally in the case of the T1 Cunningham), and barely had enough armour to stop the rain. But it's still some good practices to get into.

Interesting thing on the event calendar called "The Agony of Choice". It runs from 25th July to 28th August. The description says "Making the right choice is crucial, especially on the battlefield. Pick your vehicle and roll out for a test drive before going to battle!

The option to test sounds similar to the US version, where people earned a rental of it, and then had the option to finish a second mission to keep it. But I don't get where the choice aspect plays into it. But if it coincides with the anniversary event, that would x5s for several days.

But the JT 88 is getting pulled from sale soonish, in line with long term policy of removing any preferential MM tanks, so it seems an odd choice.

I'd see it the other way around; soon to be pulled from sale = maximize sales by giving people a chance to try it beforehand to grab all those last minute sales.

My personal suspicion is that the thought of impending removal would make more people inclined to take the risk and spend. The chance to test and potentially find they don't like it would seem to raise more potential to put people off. However this could be very individual tank sensitive. But it's not like WG share their marketing analytics with me.

Well the agony choice is up; basically do you want coated optics (and AMX CDC for 3 days) or Binos (and Jagpz. 88 for 3 days); earn 15k exp while being top ten in French/German tanks and you can only complete one of the two missions and there's no way to keep either short of buying it outright.

So you need to get 15k xp in 3 days? I presume doubles and premium does not count in? I would love to get French medium tank, but 8.8 is being removed so I better go for it. On top of that I have only AMX 50 100 in french line.

Doubles etc. do count but you only get the tank for 3 days without crew

I'll go for the CDC for the Optics and just to have the chance of playing it. At least any equipment you install on the rental is returned to your depot unlike the IS-6 rental where equipment got destroyed. Ah, IS-6 charging into battle with Toolbox, Binoculars and Camouflage Net, how fun.

You keep the binos/optics. But the tanks are only "rentals" for three days, and are gone after that. The missions for earn tanks are much, much longer affairs then a mere 15k XP.

These look the same as the NA Freedom To Play mission. Earning the rental part isn't too harsh, but the kills when rented is a bit demanding.

Meh I think I'll stick with the TOG as crew trainer if I ever need it in the future.
