Yep. Well worth getting a cheap flight over for a day and doing some shopping. I'm only in Liverpool so London would be the place to go. They have a good retro scene or so I'm told.

I was in London last year but didnt have a chance to do any retro hunting, must go over somtime!

Haha yep, a whole penny. Just need to get me a working SNES and a NES :P I just couldn't pass those up even though I can't play 'em atm.

Sure at that rate youll pick them up for 7, maybe even 8 pence. Thats incredible, it could be worth a day trip at some stage.

Jesus christ atavan, that's pretty damn amazing! A NES GBA SP for £2.99 is hilariously cheap.

    Well done :)

That haul is better than anything I've ever seen around London.

My mother came across 7 ps2 games today in a recycling plant. Cost her 2 euro for the lot.

They have more of them if anyone wants me to pick one up. Some are fairly scratched though. No chargers with them aswell.

Oh I thought you'd cleared out the stock already!

If they're selling everything that cheap you should just grab as much as you can possibly bring back. Multiples and all! You'd get at least a tenner for games like Mario Kart and Super Mario world. At 1p it would be silly to leave them behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Oh god no! I didn't even look at the games in the shop. Just seen this sale basket, had a heart attack and bought stuff. No more 1p or snes games left though, got the last of them. They have boxed NES games for £2-5 but I can't remeber what they were. I want to have a look around everywhere first then come back and get doubles etc. The English just don't have the same interest in retro as some of us do.

I'll get you a NES SP anyway and we can swap for something?

    Deffo!

2-5 pounds for boxed nes stuff is pretty amazing too. You should have a quick flick through them just in case there's something interesting

Actually **** it man, just buy an extra suitcase :pac:

I'm trying to hunt down a cheap mint copy of that myself. Proving to be quite a pain in the arse!

I'll add Alien Soldier and Castlevania The New Generation to that list of Megadrive wants. :D..you never know...

Y'know, I'm quckly beginning to love England.

    1. Everything is dirt cheap
    2. Alcohol is especially cheap
    3. Kick-ass selection of minerals
    4. Awesome accents

and of course the retro :)

    Another NES SP - £2.99
    Unofficial PS1 screen - 99p
    Worms armageddon on the N64 - 49p
    6-Button MD controller - 49p
1st or 2nd gen Saturn controller (the one thats not analog and kidney bean shaped) - 49p
    EDF on the 360 - £4.99
Riven (the sequel to myst) - £1 (Not that I like myst but I know that both of them can sell for a bit on the bay)
And probably best of all: A very rough, lonely looking MD for a pound at a market. Which will get it's cart slot cut to fit my jap MD games.

Now that NES SP is o1s's but it's fairly scratched up so o1s I'll take some pics when I get home and if you want it I'll send it on, if not then s'all good :)

Also heading to other places tomorrow so good times ahed hopefully :D

Wehey man, you're a star! Nice one :)

As for the Megadrive, throw a 60hz and language mod into it too! It's gotta be done. I'm really over the moon with mine. I throw the switch to 50hz just to laugh at the crappyness ;)

That's a fantastic game. Fairly sure I have a copy knocking about somewhere. Think I got it in one of Gamestops ps1 bargain bins.

Well I have the genesis so I'm not too bothered about 60hz as I have that already but a language switch would be awesome!

Won eight more 2600 games on eBay last night. Total delivered works out at €35, so €4.38 a game. Well happy!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 520 ✭✭✭batari

Ah I have my e-mail telling me that once I was the highest bidder, and an e-mail from the seller when I was winning wishing me good luck!

Them's the closest I'll ever get to Air-raid I think.

    Fookin' deadly!

Some of them must have cost a bit. RKA usually goes for a tidy little sum.

What's the story with the Earthworm Jim 2? Has it been resealed? Or is that a mint unopened copy??

Do I also spy a Megadrive RGB scart cable?

    /Sealed game geek hat on

I hope you're not going to open that...right?!

Enjoy RGB. It makes any other video mode look like ass.

Seeing as we're on the Megadrive, I got this done last week (Courtious of Enternow...thanks a million dude ;))

Ta-dah! two switches to unlock the hidden power of this little black box. If you don't have this done to your Megadrive this very instant you're insane!

    DSC_0001-1.jpg

Before - crappy English title screen running at 50hz-

After - Kick ass Bare knuckle title screen and game at 60hz!

50hz Megaman Wiley wars character select screen at 50hz -

Yep, that's my trusty old Megadrive 2 sandwiched between a Sega CD 2 and a mushroom shaped tumour (AKA a 32X)

I was lucky enough to get a mint copy of Megaman: The Wiley Wars from ebay Australia for about 40 euro posted. (What did I tell ya about Ebay Australia!)

You'll never see a deal like that again! Hell, chances are you wont even see the game on ebay ever again in the near future. Last copy I saw in the UK was buy it now for about 250 sterling!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

Woo, I love me some Initial D too :D

Back from England so pics of my haul very shortly.

    But today I got

A shoite condition but mint box + manuals GB Power adaptor thing - 99p
    Yellow N64 controller - 49p
Pokémon colosseum - £8 (bit expensive but I wanted it)
    Pokémon pinball - £2.99
Desert strike on the MD, complete with manual (and a used envelope with someones address on it ) - 99p
I think I got another saturn controller but I can't remember. It was 49p if I did anyway.

And I only have the controller, manuals and cables for it at the moment as the console and box will be posted to me shortly (Didn't have any room left) but I got a mint-in-the-box clear(ish) purple N64 for £17.99

So yeah, all in all a very awesome few days :D

There has been a Rocket Knight Adventures hole in my Megadrive collection for too many years!

Finally filled it today with alovely CIB copy.

I can really see my MD collection taking off again after this mod. I'm on about 160 games. Lets see if I can get to 200 :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Meant to ask you o1s1n, how much should i spend on a cib copy of probotector for the MD, have ones in the crosshairs but I need to know a limit for the last 15 seconds :P

And good to hear with the rocket knight purchase, great game! My collection is really starting to get going again.

Just ordered Garfield Caught in the Act and Strongman Contest, CIB

I think a good price for that would be anything up to 30euro. You should be able to get it for a lot less though. All depends on who's bidding. Don't go over the 30 mark anyway! ;)

Once I saw a CIB copy on ebay and didn't bid. It sold for less than 10 pounds. I was well angry

Yeah 30 was about where i was thinking too.

its stupid though, some people are selling them for £200 :O

I don't know what the story is, but some games have really gone up in value in the last couple of years. Probotector is one of them.

Streets of Rage 3 has really taken off too. It was always pricy, but around the 30 mark. Now people are looking for 60-70+.

The Punisher is another one. You won't get that on ebay not for anything less than a fortune.

There are quite a few games I wish I'd have bought a few years ago!

On topic, I just picked up another playstation analog pad. Cheers Atavan! keep em coming..I want to be the sole provider of these in the world :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

Yeah the punisher is on the list but its really just over inflation on the games,

Like the "sealed" shinobi III for £200 on ebay uk

Shinobi III, that's another game that was never too expensive. I never got around to picking it up though...really regret that!

A friend of mine picked me up a Megadrive II with all leads and controllers at a car boot sale today. Score!

/Edit - just got an update on that Megadrive. It's still in it's original box, everything is bagged. Looks brand new.

Just picked up a boxed Playstation 2 of the Phat variety. Box is in great condition and includes foam inserts and manual with some disc included, haven't opened that yet. Best part is it's modded for all regions and plays Burned discs! No need to dick around with my NTSC Slim for a game of Metal Slug :D
