Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rez a twin stick game btw? Think I played a demo of it on 360 but never gave it a chance really.

How dare you lump Rez in with the FPS of downloadable games, the increasingly boring genre of twin stick shooters. Rez is an into the screen music based shooter and an absolute thing of beauty.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,472 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

I know what type of game it is, I was just asking about the controls.

Andrew76 refers to Rez as a twin stick shooter?
I think you'll find my chap at the door with your coat, hat and cane, this club is no longer open to you, I trust you will find other arrangements at a venue with.. lower standards of admission.
    Good day to you sir!

Oh, and on a brighter note,
Went to see Tintin this evening with wife and boy, it was excellent!
Everything Indy used to be before George got his sticky mitts on the scripts, it was packed with action, had a story that made some sense, it had a great cast and was beautifully animated.

    For Retr0gamer and Ciderman:

I couldn't remember what kind of control scheme it used, never once said it was a shooter.

Retrogamers: Know your genres! It's a Dreamcast game, it should have been obvious. Twin Sticks on a DC? Not unless you have forked out for the special stick for Virtual On Oratorio my dear boy :P

That HD version for the 360 must have been a figment of my imagination so. You know, then one I said I played a demo of.

That was actually the reason I was asking, I was curious if the 360 version would work on a cab controller wise.

It exists alright. It also still only uses one stick so will be fine for a candy cab.

Started working on a Game Boy color earlier this evening.
Got dragged away and forced to watch the X Factor and then on for a good few pints.

Now back at my desk and have this to sort out.

Just about to start some pad hack work myself (thanks again EnterNow), decided to use a terminal strip after all.

Just a clean and prep for the new screen cover I have coming next week.

Also the controls needed some lubrication so I did that as well as some new battery contacts.

Its from that large haul of retro stuff I got last week.
Just needs a little love and it'll be perfect.

I hope the screen cover coming next week is better than the Nomad screen cover I got the other day. Really low quality it is.

Went to see it with the family myself, the animation is excellent nice storyline and action packed from start to finish, what surprised me was how faithful to the source material it tried to be I wasn't expecting it to be anywhere as good as it was:D

Watched Senna last night and as a huge fan of the man I can only say I was slightly dissappointed by the movie, it was like a lazer beam focusing on himself and Prost with little or no mention of the epic battles he had with Mansel and other drivers.

Any impressive gaming Halloween costumes this year? Was at a box social last night and one girl was dressed as fire suit Link, including bomb bag and cotton bud Navi sellotaped to her hat. No boomerang though, which was a missed opportunity.

Had intended full on Vincent from Catherine costume, but unfortunately all the clothes I needed had mysteriously disappeared / never existed. I just wore the t-shirt that came with the special edition as a sad compromise.

This 'fear of ketchup' seems pretty deeply ingrained in society. I know I love the stuff (anything tomato based, really) but one friend of mine is deathly afraid of the stuff. Bizarre stuff.

None of you should go to this, by the way:

    Tomatina2.jpg

It's terrific fun, but some of you mightn't make it through. It's like bathing in a sea of Heinz when surrounded by tens of thousands of drunken revelers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,790 ✭✭✭Jack burton

see that wouldnt bother me because its actual real tomatoes. Not processed **** that put into a bottle that has so much **** in it its not even called by a fruit or a flavour. Its named from the colour of it "red".

Well there's 'ketchup' and 'red sauce' (the latter more a nickname than an official title). Good ketchup is, and always shall be, a delicious condiment.

Heinz > Chef > that horrible industrial strength stuff you find at dodgy hotdog stands. I also understand there's a sort of gourmet ketchup craze going on. Haven't tried any of it myself.

    Master of the Universe

Had a bit of a Halloween party last night. Thought it would be a bit of craic to get everyone out into the garden and set a Chinese lantern off into the sky.

It wasn't until we lit the thing that it dawned on me that it was pretty much just an extremely flammable paper sack with a giant flame in the middle.

Went for it anyway, let the thing fill with hot air and it slowly started to lift out of our hands....

We let it go too soon. Bad idea. It rose to about 15 feet, glided over our hedge and into next doors extremely manicured garden - where it lodged in their big apple tree and decided to go up in flames.

A big freak out came next. 'Maybe it'll go out?!' 'maybe it'll dislodge!' '**** no! their tree is going to go on fire!'

So we ran around to the front door.

Just as we were about to ring the bell, dressed as zombies, with their back garden looking like judgement day had come, the lantern somehow disloged itself and flew up away into the sky.

Standard fireworks would have been safer!

We had a similar moment of pyromancy when someone decided it would be a swell idea to duct tape fifteen sparklers together.

It was amongst the most visually impressive five seconds I've seen recently. The nearby plant, however, didn't come out so happily.

Like a cross between the arcade shooter Viewpoint (graphically) and Robotron, in arcade mode. Not played the Adventure mode yet. Very nice.
