Not a fan of peaches...probably cuz never had a nice one. Ive a week old tub of pears in the press from aldi, still hard as a rock and starting to mould, flavourless plums from aldi, organic applies from lidl I think they've been stored somewhere for the last year, look nice but drying out on the inside. They were nice a few years ago, I think they were from Italy but they're from new Zealand now.

    Grapes are OK I suppose.

I wish they'd lose the massive range and just stock stuff that hasn't travelled half the world.

You were lucky. Mune were rotten within 2 days of buying them and they destroyed the kitchen with fruit flies.

Only one answer for it -

    https://www.giyinternational.org/

I've never heard of someone so unlucky with fruit purchases. I never have problems with the fruit I buy in lidl or aldi. Storage and Ripening at home method is important for some of their items like pears, peaches and plums.

    Any how. Off topic.

I'd say that all those hippie fruits and veggies are off the wall expensive just like the organic stuff from the two brothers in Greystones.

@_Tombstone_ You should stick to your local farmers market or Tescos or wherever you get the best for your tastes as the Bargains in aldi are not meeting your standards.

The Clememtines I bought tasted lovely but then again, I had given it a couple of days after suckin' diesel before eating them.

I need to back-track on what I said earlier .

Now maybe is was a once-off thing , but anyway 3 days later and now these Peru clementines are delicious .

Their outer colour has changed to a more orangey look and they are way juicier than the one I ate after purchase last Monday

Not great fruit and veg this week. The pears last week were only gorgeous, they ripened up lovely, sweet and juicy. I kept one lot in the fridge while I scoffed the first batch. I hope they come back again soon.

The ordinary Aldi mince tends to be very watery on the pan, so I'll give it a miss. I got the Angus mince when it was on offer, no water, and great flavour.

Got pears yesterday and they are tasteless and dry. I usually regret getting 39/49 c fruit either in aldi or tesco as the quality is awful

    Wha? Dem banananananas were superb.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭Tinie

Yeah the pears are so poor. No taste and not juicy at all. Quality/Shelf life is deteriorating in some of the veg ive noticed in Aldi/Lidl.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭Charlie Haughy

Distinct lack of any man veg this week (e.g. broccoli, sweet potatoes, turnip etc.) :(

Ah well, off to Tesco I go :)

The bananas were decent and the apples were not bad for a change but that is far from the norm for Aldi 49c fruits.

I didn't eat them straight away, let them go yellow and ripen up in a bowl with a few bananas. Eaten green they'd be horrid.

Reading about that place in the hipster Blackrock market that got a Michelin star I couldn't help wondering if their menus were based on the Aldi Super Six.....:)
The €48, five-course, no-choice tasting menu is hyper-seasonal, and changes every fortnight.

The dunnes ones are quiet odd selection.

The tesco offers are very good, the best of all the supermarkets this week.
