Having seen this idea implemented on another website I thought it might be fun to try it out here.

The idea is essentially this - a number of users are put up for a "Survivor" style contest, for instance: ten users are chosen to be put to a poll vote of boards users, the person with the most votes after a certain time will be eliminated. Then a new thread is created with the 9 remaining users, and again one will be eliminated after a certain voting time limit.

A method for choosing the ten users is required, so provisionally I had decided on the top 10 posters, excluding admins or AH mods (to prevent allegations of vote fiddling).

However, upon reflection I thought this would be unfair on those users, so instead I suggest that the first 10 posters to reply wanting to be part of the "competition" will be put to the vote.

These users can then state their cases why they shouldn't be eliminated in the "Round 1" thread that I'll create.

Suggestions for time limits are welcome.

The overall winner will also win a 50 cent CDWOW voucher.

A week seems to long, but its more regular than, say 48hrs. It depends on how many rounds you plan on I suppose.

The stereotypical funky penguin? I think the concensus is they are normal penguins but with clothes.

Or you could be the "other" person who's like the stereotypical non-stereotype.

why dont you get a forum created, and then you can put up your polls, and then you can create a topic of debate, in which each individual gets to put up one post, and we can cast our vote based on that.

AlcoholicA didn't it make clear s/he wanted to be included, so if they do let me know and you'll be put on a reserve list.

A time limit of 48 hours or so sounds good - not sure if you can add time-limits to polls in vBulletin 3, but I'll find out soon enough.

WWM's idea of a board for this sounds good, but I think we should wait and see if it's popularity takes off first.
