The Dark Gods are not pleased. They require a new champion to impose their will. Reality has been twisted, contrived and manipulated to bring potential champions together so that they may unknowingly fight for supremacy
For one, victory will ensure immortality. For all others, death.

    Tournament rules:
    1. 24 hours for each bout (give or take, some will take longer depending on how busy the judge [me] is).
    2. Give a reason, any reason for your selection's victory in the bout.
    3. No deus ex machina will be allowed (unless it can be justified based on location and/or scenario)
    4. Six votes for victory. Should time expire before a combatant reaches six votes the team ahead wins. Ties will be decided by random draw from among those participants who have voted on the bout. Should they not respond in due time, another voter will take their place.
    5. There is a 'home' and an 'away' combatant in each fight. The fight takes place in a location that the 'home' combtant is familiar with. However, the 'away' combatant is considered the aggresor and therefore has had time to plan their assault. The 'home' combatant is being taken by (relative) surprise.
    For example:
If Batman were facing Scorpion the location would be the Batcave. In this incident Scorpion is considered to be attacking Batman so Batman might not have all of his gadgets immediately available to him.
If Scorpion were facing Batman the location would be Scorpion's Lair and Batman would have time to prepare the necessary gadgets / strategy etc .
    6. All fights take place at night.
    7. All discussion, banter, rule clarification, inquiries, allegations of match fixing etc. go here

The first fight will be posted shortly...

    Let the galaxy burn!!

Man Bat rips this lowly cyborg to pieces. All hail Man Bat!

    The first blow is struck.

    Man-Bat takes a 1-0 lead

Smokes ability to teleport gives him an edge that cannot be overlooked in this fight. Beyond this his fighting ability would far surpass Man-Bat and he's used to fighting monsters such as Goro.

    The bat goes down hard.

Smoke is more than quick enough to evade Man-Bat. he also can dissolve into smoke should Man-Bat get too close.

Smoke to use evade and sneak attacks to defeat Man-Bat.

    and to illustrate my point.....

If you can read this, you're too close!

IF Smoke is still a cyborg (in which form he's pretty much an honorary super rather than a realtype)...

Although virtually invisible to the naked eye, Smoke, unaware that he is being pursued, remains in his solid form. Man-Bat, easily finding the cyborg via echolocation, flanks and ambushes the stealthy cyborg. Allowing himself to lose control to his animal fury for a few short seconds he cannons into the human shape, using his claws and boosted strength and speed, tearing and smashing it in a frenzy designed to cripple or at least gravely weaken his shadowy target. But he soon begins to realise his mistake when even his most telling blows are deflected by what appears to be a reinforced skeleton and internal armor within his victim. The ninja recovers and counterattacks, then with the Bat momentarily off-balance he makes his escape.

Doggedly, Batters continues to hunt his prey, but his first attack was his last. Realising the batlike features of his assailant, Smoke decides to go on the defensive for a while, using his nanites to subtly change his form to meld in with the trees and other solid shapes, blocking the Bat's sonar. Within a few minutes his released nanomachines have harvested enough materials to perform emergency field repairs.

Deciding to end it with a single blow, Smoke takes advantage of the thick, humid air and waits until Batters is standing almost next to him before using his own nanites to temporarily liquidize himself. Now little more than a floating, sentient soup of nanites, Smoke's... smoke ...is inhaled by the hapless Man-Bat. Batters barely has time to realise something is wrong before Smoke, having had enough of himself inhaled, switches back to his solid form, spraying a deluge of pulverized Batters all over the place. His nanites cleaning him of any remaining giblets, Smoke vanishes back into the murk.

    Smoke ftw.

I promise not to pull that trick again, just had to do it once :o:p

Man-Bat goes down fast and painfully.

If Batman can take Man-Bat in a fight, then a ninja cyborg who can teleport and turn to smoke ( still not as awesome as Sub-Zero though :P) can beat him.

    Stinky Smoke for the win.

While Man-bat is a formidable opponent he is truly facing an uphill battle here. His opponent is better trained and equipped to deal with him. Smoke will finish him.

    5-1 to Smoke

he need'th but one more blow to finish him

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

Man-Bat lines up his target and divebombs Smoke from behind, kocking him off his feet. The hideous creature pounces for a follow up, only to land in a puff of smoke. Before he knows what has just happened, he is hit in the back with a small explosive projectile. Smoke rushes forward from the shadows, delivering a brutal kombo of ninjitsu moves to the stunned monster. Man-Bat staggers to his feet, battered and bruised. Smoke finishes him by somehow turning into a hedgehog / porcupine hybrid and firing spikes at him until he explodes.

I'll assume that Rasputin still lingers in quasi-retcon limbo, and that Spike is not implanted with any psychological or physical control mechanism preventing him from giving Catman a shoe-ing. Oh, and that he's actually corporeal today :D:P

And did I just hear boomy swoon? ;):P I think we all know who she'd vote for! :D

Catman is in many ways almost comparable to Spike. Almost. He's incredibly fast and strong for a human, a consummate martial artist, with incredible senses and a powerful if mercurial health regen (his cape).

Spike is also fast and strong, but inhumanly so. He has centuries of armed and unarmed combat experience, and is a practitioner of multiple martial arts with a tendency to throw them all together to create a powerful and versatile freestyle technique that can catch out other fighters with its rapid tactical shifts not to mention punch people clean through walls. At close range his breadth of experience combined with his analytical skills makes him a stronger, slightly less refined version of Taskmaster. And he is also blessed with regenerative capabilities like most elder vampires.

I can see Catman hearing his own ambusher coming and quickly trying to end things with a well-aimed BCatarang to the spinal column. Alas, Spike also had boosted senses and also knows that, universally, Fast-Approaching Whistling Noise = BAD. He hits the dirt and promptly counters the Catarang flying overhead with some well-aimed sarcastic one-liners, although not knowing Catman his usual psychological attacks are eerily absent. Smelling the blood in Catman's veins makes evasion useless - Catman can't hide, let alone outrun Spike. After that its a predictably sorry tale of a talented real-type trying to go up against a boosted Taskmaster-alike, one that mitigates any relative reduction in Taskie-ness with superhuman speed and strength.

    Spike FTW.

Spike has been told that Catman has been riding Buffy, thus his pursuit of Catman. The revelation causes Spike to go into rage mode and he goes on to destroy Catman. Spike FTW.

    :pac:

Spike is on another power level compared to Catman. He'll drive his fist clean through Catmans chest or some other such gruesome finish.

I going to buck the trend here and throw my vote to the cat. He is in element on the Serengeti, while Spike is more of a city boy. Also given Blake's close affinity to the big cats in the area he is going to notice their unease when some dead thing starts stalking through their turf. This gives him time to prepare and show Spike why the dead should stay buried in the past.
Catman to win and feed the corpse to the hyenas.

    3-1 to Spike

Catman is well aware of Spike approaching, he does have the home field advantage afterall, and it's a home field his tracking skills are atuned to. Spike also knows exactly where Catman is, the heightened senses being put to good use.

It doesn't matter if Catman knows he's coming, Spike is careful enough to avoid any life threathening traps and Catman abushing him gets the two close and personal, just like Spike likes it.

In close combat Spike has him owned. Spike has him for speed, strength and experience. Plus Spike is well used to going toe-to-toe and taking hits from far stronger opponents. Catman is just an above average human. Spike will be drinking on his blood in no time and not even 9 lives would be enough for Catman to win, after all how many lives has Spike already lived through and gained experience from?

Also - Spike is hawt while Catman looks the weiner.

    Catman is on the ropes...

    I hate Spike.

Spike is stronger than Catman, but I don't see Spike's knowledge of martial arts etc as a problem for Catman as he was able to go toe to toe with Bronze Tiger, and BT is a high end martial artist.

    I also hate Catman.

Also Catman has gone one on one with a number of wild animals and did so without firearms or swords. He has fought and bested fully grown lions and bears.

Plus he has that stupid cape/cloak that can heal wounds that would normally kill a man.

    I hate Spike

Spike whilst fast strong and highly skilled has been stalemated by humans in the past in one on one bouts.

I think that no matter how stealthy Spike is in his approach, a dead thing moving around in a place free of artifical scents to distract will stand out, and even if he is careful enough to stay upwind of Catman's Wolverine like sense of smell, then the local wildlife will react to the smell of dead thing. Spike may even attract in hyena and lion looking to find the meal they smell.

I think the cape/cloak is what is going to tip it for me, as Catman has a way to survive a normally killing blow with it on, and by the time Spike realises that the cloak has to go, Catman has rammed his Wolverine rip off claws right into Spike's heart.

Crappy Catman for the win. :)

Catman isn't likely to be caught unawares by Spike. He'll use the envirnoment and the big cats to his advantage to take down Billy Idol v2.0 :P

    Catman wins

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

Catman's souped up senses catch Spike coming from a mile off, not that Spike cares. he knew well surprise wouldn't be an advantage he could use in this one. This fight will be settled mono-a-mono.
It's a gruelling slugfest between two highly competetive athletes. One small mistake could spell doom for either. As the battle rages on Spike becomes increasingly frustrated, not at all helped by Catman's increasingly boorish taunts. Time to finish this!
Spike rushes Catman in an attempt to overcome him with sheer brute force - just as Catman wanted. Super quick, Catman snaps a big pointy branch from a drying tree and lets Spike's own momentum impale him through the heart, leaving only dust.
A drop in the ocean on the Serengeti plains.

Witch King has this in the bag. Vorhees just doesn't have the weapons or know-how to hurt the Witch King. Witch King gets the easy kill and has the power to reeeeeally kill Vorhees, suck his soul to hell or whatever one needs, I'm sure the Witch King has plenty of tricks up his sleeves.
