...for the recent deaths of black men at the hands of the police.

The killer is dead also, by his own hand. No doubt about who it was, he announced it on instagram before doing the deed. He was already on the run after murdering his girlfriend on Friday.

This fills me with dread, both for copycat cop killers and for heavy handed police retaliation from the small percentage of thugs in uniform. An all out race battle is only going to make things a thousand times worse for black men over there.

facts speak for themselves. black men only make up 6% of the us population but around half the prison population. there are ten times as many black males in us prisons right now per capita than there was during the height of the apartheid regime in south africa.

If someone came at me and tried to use my gun to kill me or with a knife I would do anything that would have to be done and I guess you all would do the same or else would be happy to die.

Latest Twitter gossip (absolutely not confirmed) is that the cops were female, non-white (Asian/Hispanic) and the attacker was Muslim.

This hasn't been contradicted by any mainstream reports.

If this is true, it will not calm tensions one little bit.

If it isn't, it's a good indicator of the crap people will make up to try and stir up trouble.

An off duty police officer was shot at yesterday in St. Louis:

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-An off duty St. Louis city police officer is recovering Saturday morning after being shot. He came under-fire while simply driving his personal vehicle north on 25th Street near Breman. That’s in north St. Louis.

Police say that the 28-year-old officer was fired upon just before 4:00pm. He was shot multiple times in the lower extremities. His wounds do not appear to be life threatening. The St. Louis Municipal Department says the officer is in critical but stable condition.

It is not clear if that officer ever returned fire.

Police are not sure exactly what prompted the attack on the officer. Police recovered physical evidence at the scene and they have the officer’s car which was struck several times by bullets.

“We don’t know what transpired but the occupants of the other vehicle opened fire. He was struck a number of times. He drove a short distance where someone else took over his vehicle. We think it was someone who was not inside the car with him at that time. They then drove him to the hospital where he was taken into surgery.” said Capt. Michael Sack of the St. Louis Police Department.

There is no information about a suspect at this time.

The incidence does put into perspective though the dangers cops face every day and might explain why a very small percentage of them resort to, what some people in the cold light of day would claim to be, excessive force.

It's sad what's happening to what should be a great country and I only see it getting worse. There's a very adversarial climate there at the moment and any more incidents like Ferguson and things could go down the rabbit hole very quickly.

That's not where the executive summary comes from though, is it?

It makes it sound as if all African-Americans are collectively responsible for the crimes, which is not language that the NYC government would use.
