It might be a good idea, if the road were to remain the N17, but traffic volumes should decrease a large amount once the bypass is opened so there should be no issues for turning right into their driveways. If I was living there i wouldn't be happy.
Seems to me there will be an increase of traffic using that section, all traffic going to Dunmore /Ballyhaunis will have to use it when they come off or enter the bypass

Hey Lazy:D. Due to finish in Spring 2018, but they are ahead of schedule and it could open as early as November next.

Ten years of the forum. Hard to believe.
Whatever about the obvious frustrations regarding opening the scheme to traffic, wasn't it a stroke of good fortune that the project got out of the traps back in 2007? A little bit later and we would be looking at at TII website with GortTuam categorised as suspended if not abandoned! Thanks once again to all who provided updates and especially M17 for remarkable 'coverage'.

They will put up a sign distance sign for Shannon airport on M18 but not Ireland West Airport on M17. Irl West is 55km from Tuam, don't see why it shouldn't be on the signs

Shannon is a terminal destination of the N19. Knock isn't a terminal destination.

Yep, the M18 out of Galway on the M6 is signed as M18 (N19) at the exit as well.

There could be a case for signing Knock alright, Knock has more flights to UK destinations than Shannon.

Somehow Marno, I don't think thats the criteria for putting airports on signs.

    I didn't say it was.

Knock will be closer to Galway with the new motorway time wise, and could be an attractive alternative to trundling across the country to Dublin. It has a case for being signed given the volume of flights ex Knock, it isn't a Carnmore type operation to be fair to it.
