Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

His short irons were the real problem. Too often having 150 or less in and hitting it to 30 feet. Just not getting it in tight enough. Any birdie putts inside 10 feet he holed.

Whilst you are right about his irons not being nailed in, his putter was definitely very cold this week. In fact, I rarely saw him make a putt from outside 10ft and he said the same himself after yesterday's round.

Elsewhere... poor etiquette from the marshal asking for his autograph as he walked off the 18th... let him fulfill his obligations and sign his card first.

Of course, but to kaymer, hard to see.

You know he will go and sort it.

But, there is a worrying weakness somewhere in him, as at his age he should have won more (imo) - yet at other times he looks perfect almost robotic.

was surprised how he showed how upset he was.

2 weeks in row now that the final round leaders have had a disaster and lost the tournament.

That's true and to be fair, I'm sure he will be taking a lot of positives away this week. He actually didn't do an awful lot wrong today, he was just severely punished when he did make a mistake.

When you look at it, there were only 2 holes today which cost him the tournament.

It is only golf . But not for them.
    A pride
    Their Job
    Their life.

Yes . Not a big tournament. But if you seen interview after. The most impressive thing is how shaken he was.
He said he needed to reflect.

Great to see as wealthy as him care .

He knows these things are little tests for learning to close out and win.

We know kaymer has and will do that.
It separates the great from the good.

    To expand my earlier post...

He finished Top 3, played great stuff for 70 holes and all in all a very good result from a deep field.
Rory had a very similar week and finished just one shot ahead.
Why concentrate on the last holes of the round and take negatives away?

He sounds like a broken man in the interviews and 99% of golf fans understand why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,958 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I just felt Kaymer . From a young lad was going to dominate golf at a now Rory level.

He has at times, But seems so up and down.

But he looks like a man who is ready to take his place.

He should be way more important than a Bubba Watson / Rose for example. .

But at least he has 2 to his name.

Hoping he is a key man in 2015. Not too many people looking like being the Rory rival. Perhaps Speith. But early for him.

You might be surprised by a 14 time major champ. Watch this space. Also, Dustin has apparently been doing great things during his "time off to sort his personal issues out".

To be honest, I'd be more worried about him if he wasn't upset about what happened today.

I see Peter Lawrie's connections are working well for him.

Invite secured for Qatar this week and the next 2 tournaments in Dubai and Malaysia as well.

Just needs to get it going on the course now.

Hoey and McGrane in the field as well this week.

Wednesday to Saturday tournament in Doha so it all gets underway early doors tomorrow morning.

Decent starts for Mcgrane and Lawrie.

Decent starts for Mcgrane and Lawrie.

68 for McGrane, currently tied 5th, 70 for Lawrie tied 17th. Hopefully Lawrie will make the cut this week after a couple of near misses.

I think this wins the most pointless ugly event on the "European tour", yes it is the money the weather all that.

On a separate note still can't believe this place are getting world cup.

    Still watching :)

Whatever happens to Grace as season goes on. The guy is a money machine but sort of on the off-piste season. Whilst the big guys build up a season , this part of the season can be very important for other tour players.

Shot a 77 today!, his previous worst round in the last 4 years was a 70!

It wasn't vintage stuff for the Irish, but very glad to see Peter Lawrie make the cutt and earn himself 10K.

Peter picked up another $15,000 on Sunday in Abu Dhabi Invitational. Obviously doesn't count towards the rankings but nice to win a few quid when you've been struggling to make cuts with the last 18 months.

Definitely a pick up in his form, just needs to bring his game into the weekends now.

It was a European tour sanctioned so I guess that means world ranking points were on offer?

there were some serious prizes on offer, just a pity nobody got a hole in one for a Bentley and a yacht worth $1.2m

Oh yea, and it was interesting to note that team JP beat team McIlroy :D

Yes, good to see his form improve. He won't get many opportunities this season, so hopefully the makes the most of those opportunities.

Unfortunately this was taken a few weeks ago, I came home the day before Abu Dhabi started

Anyway I was on the Metro just pulling into the station right outside the gate of the Emirates when I took this. They were getting set up early! Keep your eye on the tele over the next few days and you should see a few of the driverless trains whizz past. They are up on stilts, excellent service with futuristic stations. Was interesting when you sit up where the driver normally does!

Finished on -6. good round. Darren Clarke was going well (had an eagle), but finished on level par. Scoring is lower than I would have thought. McGrane going nicely on -2 after 14. Lawrie only starting - level par.

What a ridiculous back 9 from Grillo. 7 birdies in a row to finish his round and shoot a 67.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Lawrie finished on +1. He'll need to do better tomorrow.

So Nick Dougherty is on commentary - I have had mixed feelings about him in the past, but he seems to be doing good job today.

GMac getting good coverage - -4 coming up the last.

The man is a machine, really growing into his role as best player in the world now. Needs to start adding a few Ws though to start causing his opponents to melt going down the back 9 on Sunday.

I'd love to have seen Gary stahl playing the fearless golf he did last Sunday if it was a 2001 Tiger breathing down his neck. Maybe if Rory can convert his good start this weekend and pick up another win on the Pga tour before the Masters that extra aura can help him eek out a few 'handed to him' wins besides the blow outs.

Nope. She did the intros for the Ryder cup, and that is all I've seen of her in recent years. I thought she was excellent.

Not too sure about Rory's pink shirt but he is playing very nicely. In complete control of his game at the moment.

Funny listening to all of nick dougherty's advice on how to construct a good golf round. He should probably listen to it himself
