Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it the Sky Remote Record app by MeavyDev? OR am I looking at the wrong one?

    Has anyone tried Edwin. http://lifehacker.com/5596610/edwin-speech+to+speech-android-app-expands-androids-speech-recognition-skills

Its pretty cool. The best thing about it is that when you download the app it asks you to install a voice recognition app. I have a desire and as most of you probably know it doesn't come with voice recognition. However, it installs a voice recognition app to your phone very easliy.

You have the ability to long press the search button and the google voice option comes up. Not sure if this is the official google voice app. But it works very well. It allows you to searh google with voice commands.:)

No, that one won't work outside the UK.

Anyone know of an app that would allow you to block other apps from running?? Say like blocking the stock music app from starting up when I click my headphones remote. I have Tune Wiki installed and love it but want it to start only and not that other crap!!

    Cheers,

Is anyone having problems downloading apps from the Market today? I've tried to download at least 6 diferent apps at different times today and every single one of them returned a download unsuccessful error message.

I have tried on both 3G and wi-fi and get the same error on both and I know both are working as I'm receiving my emails, internet surfing etc

    Any suggestions anyone?

    Ben

Just installed like 4-5 apps from this thread using wifi, no problems here.

It's REALLY annoying me now. I've rebooted the device and tried downloading more apps but get the same download unsuccesful error. In the Market app it recognises the apps I previously downloaded and suggests updates etc but won't download any!!

    Suggestions anyone???

Is it possible your running out of space? I use to get an icon saying "running low of memory" in the drop down menu at the top.

Not sure if its related to you as well but I've recentley put a custum rom on the phone and it will find the app but when I go to install it "App not found" message.

    Good luck.

Whenever I go into the gameloft website on my hero, it brings me into this crappy wap site which would only sell games which could work on my old SE k750i. I'm looking for smartphone games. Anyone else found this problem?

Works perfectly on my X10 as well. No need to convert my video files, just drop them straight onto my SD card and play. Fantastic app.

That AndroidPit site / app in your link isn't bad either.
Install it. It shows you detailed reviews of the apps and if you want to download it there's a link to the Market.

    I haven't tried them so I don't know.

Based on the link below, it can play MKV files but it is very slow with no audio.

    Tricorder.

Scan some stuff (acceleration / sound / wifi / other stuff) in a Star Trek Tricorder like interface.

Edit: probably not a must have. Unless you're a geek:D

Excellent! Was just about to start a thread looking for an avi player! As Otacon said, no conversion needed, just drag and drop, perfect!
Only problem is, now I need a bigger memory card

I see some people here are using scan life ...when I go to download it, it says it has access to " services that cost you money"-" directly call phone numbers and send SMS messages"

    What that about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

I presume if you scan a number it can ring it etc etc.

    Chrome to Phone.

A handy app that, when set up, allows you to send web pages and Google maps links instantly from your desktop Chrome/Firefox browser to your phone with one click. I assume the technology is only going to grow and get bigge & better.

    http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/

The download links are on the site. It only works on 2.2.

Very nifty. Select text (eg phone number), click send to phone, shows up in dialer. :)

didn't send the route I mapped out though - only the start and end point which is listed as an issue so I hope that will be fixed.

I can't remember the name of an app that I had installed but then removed.

It enabled you to control when the mobile internet and wifi were turned on and off, kind of like a scheduler. I was searching around for something to do this for me, as I want the phone to connect t'tinerwebs once every 15 mins or so during the day, and less during the night.

    Any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,807 ✭✭✭✭28064212

Locale maybe? It's a paid app now though. I think there's a free one that does similar stuff, but not sure what it's called

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/boardsie-enhancement-suite/

It's worth getting Locale. Not free but it was worth it for me.

I don't use mobile data so that's always turned off (Locale can't manage that).

When I come home or arrive at work, WiFi turns on.
From 11PM - 7AM WiFi turns off because if I get mail in the middle of the night I don't care and the phone is up to date by the time I'm interested in looking at it anyway.
If the battery goes below 15% WiFi is turned off. If I plug it in, WiFi will turn on.

I use the phone (Desire) a reasonable amount (a couple of hours of music / podcasts and plenty of apps) and get two days out of the battery, i.e. if I unplugged it at 7AM today I won't have to charge it until bedtime tomorrow, so not quite 48 hours.

Yep, using it here I only have a few profiles set-up as yet, I know what else I want it to do but it is a little tricky getting it to work they way you want. There are few example profiles on the wiki but only a few.

I had a play with it and came to the realisation it's easier to adjust the settings manually. If I can think of a really good use for it, I'll give it another go.
