Mark Ryan (Rathfarnham) had an excellent run in the M35 category in the World Masters to win a bronze medal. The Irish M35 team also won bronze thanks to support from Peter O’Farrell and Paul Fleming – all three scorers are from Rathfarnham. Martin McDonald (North Laois) won bronze in the M55 category. Good man Climbhigh. Promotion works.

    Lads and Ladies,

The masters trip away is a fantastic weekend in it's own right. Getting organised enough to bring three or four lads to make up a team simply adds another layer to the onion of fun involved.

In our case (Rathfarnham/M35) we knew we had a potential high scorer in Mark Ryan and put the word out in the club/IMRA that there were medals to be won. This was Paul Fleming's first masters hillrunning event and he took home a medal. Paul is a very talented road and track runner who will no doubt go back to the track next year as he will be at the "good" end of a new age category. John Kelly from Cappawhite came which provided competition for the scoring places, this drives performance upwards. Barry Minnock if available may have helped translate bronze to silver and alchemists the world over would be queuing at his door :)

    The message is:
It's in Wales next year. Get a strong team together and head over. It's gonna be awesome, it's gonna be emotional, there will be Lego movie songs to be sung.

Live streaming of World championships: http://www.teleboario.com/tbonair-diretta-in-streaming/

For an uphill race, there is a lot of technical descent! Junior men's race is at 10:00 Italian time

At the AGM the committee announced that they were planning to put together a complete calendar for 2015 and then show it to the Nationl Parks and Wildlife Service to try to get one permit which will cover all races.

So I'm not sure if they will put the calendar up before then but it does probably mean that it will go up in one big bang rather than dribs and drabs.

    Can't wait!

Its a wee while before the next IMRA race so a wait before any calendar is finalised is no harm.

And thanks to the committee for their hard work and dedication. Couldn't make AGM to give appreciation in person.

Please see new IMRA rule RE mandatory kit:

    http://www.gaelforceevents.com/skyrun/en/event_details/the_course_22km_event.html

and here's the mandatory kit list ;)

The course route is entirely off road so it may take a while for medical aid to reach you. Therefore it is essential that the following kit is brought with you from the start:

VERY IMPORTANT: Trail running shoes must be worn. These must be shoes with an aggressive thread. Large parts of the route have no trail, only soft ground. Anyone wearing road runners will not be allowed to start the race.
Hooded waterproof jacket must be carried with you regardless of the weather. The weather in the mountains is changeable so this item is essential.
Headwear of some description, eg. wooly hat or buff
Whistle to attract attention in an emergency
    Space blanket
Bottle that can carry minimum 200ml of water.
Food, particularly to provide you with fuel in an emergency.
Mobile phone that has the Race Director's and emergency numbers pre-saved into it plus enough battery to last your estimated race time.

Although the following is not mandatory kit, it is recommended to bring:
    Gloves to keep heat in
Extra thermal layer in case it gets cold
Waterproof leggings light enough to carry with you
    Compass
