Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know a lad who mixes his protein with the whites and some milk...said it tastes just fine

Hmmm... mixing them in a shake isn't a bad idea at all! I use unflavoured whey though so id still imagine the taste wont be great but the shake will be gone in no time suppose!

Id say the taste it pretty grim haha! Still i will try anything... ill have to keep a look out do you know the name of the brand and about how much a carton costs?

They are called two-chicks. Unsure of the price, have a feeling they are around 3.50, but I do recall it is far cheaper to buy whole eggs and separate the whites...

Got my delivery from myprotein last week. One pouch had a small tear in the middle, not sure how/when it happened or what contamination occurred, so was planning on sending it back. Emailed them to see what the story is with returns and they just offered me a 20% refund, no return. Emailed back, will wait for a reply but could be my last order.

Not likely to get a refund from them. I had a similar incident, the only gave me a voucher code for about €12 even though a 5kg bag had been damaged. I argued that the contents could have been contaminated in transit and the bag was also unsealable and they said they would send me a tub !!
There was no discussion regarding the voucher, I was merely told that this was what I was getting, its like talking to a wall trying to deal with their customer service.

They're really cutting corners on the delivery packaging at the moment, I don't think any boxes have arrived undamaged to me, crappy cardboard and not enough of the large bubble wrap that they use inside to protect the contents.

How have they gone from such a good company to their current state ??

I had problems with an order with them a few months back and they wouldn't even entertain me.

But I got a refund through Paypal. I try to do all of these transactions through Paypal as the conflict resolution is straight forward enough and effective (at least in this case)

They're awful, bulkpowders or the proteinworks seem to be better alternatives.

Just spent a half hour comparing prices from bulkpowders and myprotein, BP are shockingly cheap on some items versus MP. What with all the problems we're having with MP I think i'll give BP my custom from now on.

I use bulkpowders all the time now, but Ironscience are also another good alternative! Good prices and customer support is great! I had an issue with taste with one of their whey proteins and they gave me a full refund and a free shaker with my next order for the issue! :)

Just about to order off myprotein when I noticed your post. Bulkpowders are cheaper alright.

Would they be as good as if not better than myprotein in terms of quality?
    and
Are they any discount codes or free delivery codes to Ireland?

    Cheers

I much prefer their products if im honest! Delighted i switched, MyProtein do stock certain things that bulkpowders don't though like tribulus and some other things that can be hard to find but overall i find them great and delivery is always bang on time too, usually about 4 working days!

    here's my referral code: DW41409

That will get you a 5r off your first order! :)

    Cheers Dude, much appreciated.

    No Problem :)

edit: Another thing, with regards to deliver if you use "parcel motel" for delivery i think your first 3 deliveries only cost 2 euro or something, i cant remember exactly i've been using them for ages now! Really great because sometimes these companies ship free in the uk!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭n1ck

Parcel motel gives the first two deliveries free then it is €3.50 per delivery after that.

That must be new, when i signed up i got my first couple of deliveries for free? i use the Antrim address so its still considered within the uk so even now i still only pay €3.50 for all my deliveries which is quite good imo?

Had a look in Dunnes on my way home this evening for the Two Chicks egg whites. They're 4.50 for a 500g carton. Far too expensive for what it is.

I know that 18 eggs from Tesco works out far cheaper than the carton of two-chicks...

    ....... But are they equal?

No they are not as te two chick whites are pasteurised which makes them far different. They also have thickener added ( makes them handy if you are making a cake but terrible if you are making a protein shake).

The two chick ones are pasteurised meanin you can eat then raw with close to 100 bio availability of the protein content. Same as any liquid egg white you purchase on a carton (bulk powders are far cheaper that two chicks for example).

To compare raw eggs while from tesco or also etc u have to include the hassle of cookin them into the equation. Egg whites separated from raw eggs have to be cooked to achieve the same bioavailability of the protein content of the egg whites bought in a carton. So compare like with like before you make up your mind.

    To conclude.

Liquid egg white is a great source of protein.
If comparing liquid egg whites to eggs bought and seperated from eggs then you must take the cost (in terms of financial cost and time/convenience cost) into account.
If you do decide to take on separating whole eggs as a viable alternative to buying liquid eggs whites then don't throw away the yokes. The egg yokes are full of protein, healthy fats, and all the vitamins and minerals ( basically if you are discarding any thing let it be the white rather than the yoke)
Eat as many whole eggs per day as you want if you want. "Popular" research is outdated ad misquoted.

Yeah fair enough, but the poster literally asked which method was cheaper and I responded. There was no reason for you to write an essay on egg whites and eggs. There are tonnes of threads on this forum with that kind of info anyway. This thread is about supplements after all

Anyone here ever use controlled labs greens? I got some the other day and it has a worrying warning on the back hah apparently it's some mad California law.

Say if i buy Unflavoured protein powders and add something like choco powder or a vanilla essence flavouring myself will it change the protein level of the shake?
MP flavoured shakes havee reduced levels of protein than unflavoured powders..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,911 ✭✭✭Zombienosh

It's very slight though isn't it? I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes If I get some horrible tasting protein I throw in some of that nesquik milkshake powder, stuff is a life saver.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,826 ✭✭✭✭dahat

5/6 % i think, slight yes but is it a few euro cheaper to get unflavoured, how stink is it?
Flavour doesn't bother me as i can skull the shake but if it tastes like wet sawdust that is just too much

The percentage of protein will drop but the amount won't.

If you take out two scoops of protein. Lets say 50 grams of powder which has 40 g of protein (assuming perfect wpc 80). No matter what you add to flavour it you will always be getting 40 g of protein.

The ma brought home an ice cream maker from work. Made use of the casein protein I've got here and made chocolate casein protein ice cream.

Find it very difficult to drink casein shakes, so this I'll see how this goes.

Might be of interest for a few here from Ironscience.

    Discount Code: VATFREE

    http://www.ironscience.co.uk/proteinpowder/wheyproteinconcentrate.html

£45 for 5kg of flavoured whey ain't bad after the code.

shipping seems expensive but Parcel Motel may be an option.

Also: this thread turned 4 years old the other day.

Any of ye buy the casein protein from either MyProtein or BulkPowders? If so which would you recommend? They both seem to have two types IIRC.

Used the last of the ON one I had here. Don't fancy forking out the blips for it again.

I only ever bought Milk Protein Smooth from myprotein. It tasted okay in chocolate.

They have Micellar Casein now. its 15% off with MCASEIN. Never had it though and haven't bought from them in ages due to shipping fiasco

    Bulk Powders: Complete Mass 5kg
    or
    Serious Mass 5kg

    Which would you recommend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,797 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

Here's a question: Are Nitric Oxide boosting (arginine) supplements cumulative or immediate in action? In other words, for say Animal Pump, should I be taking it even on off days, like creatine, so my body builds up a supply? Or is it purely something which is absorbed and used immediately following taking it?

I've never used serious mass before so cant really give an opinion on it but i do love bulkpowders chocolate complete mass! All the carbs come from super fine oats so you're not taking in all that sugar you get from most weight gainers, just protein and good carbs!
