A real pity the ladies lost yesterday, a 5 in a row would have been very nice for them to do.
Monaghan played very well to be fair to them and deserved it on the day.

Seen there was a big score in the Nemo Bishopstown game, is Jack Ferriter still playing with Bishopstown?

Dear god yeah - some scoring in that game, would have been great viewing I'd imagine.

    Anybody at it?

    Tip 1-10 v 0-09 Cork

Tip - as predicted - proved to be a bit good for Cork tonight in the minor footbal.
Cork missed a fair few scorable chances apparently and an injury time pen but it wasn't to be.

Lack of a free taker at county level is unacceptable imo

Hurlers to beat Kilkenny in a thriller semi final. Cork to meet Galway in final and win narrowly.

Footballers to beat Kerry in semi also and bury a few past ghosts in Croke park. Dublin Cork final and Cork winning in the last 10 mins.

Boards(CORK GAA DISCUSSION) don't do dreams but if they did they would be the best dreams in the world. :D

Still though destiny is a great word. :D

They would meet in the final this year isnt it the way the draw works every second year?

Now that would be a sweet victory :D

So, Kerry in 2 weeks, no surprise there. They will of course benefit from the runout, even though they were far from convincing.

Tip in the hurling, who got a right scare from Limerick and I reckon we will have a right crack off them.

Tipps record in Pairc Ui Chaoimh is shocking. Think they have only won twice in 80 years in Championship hurling and 2008 been the most recent. So I fancy our chances when we meet them. They weren't that impressive today but can improve.

How many times in last 80 years have Tipp played in Cork ? Tipp were off form last day we met them in cork, some lucky goals from o halpin

I don't care what Tip were that day. Cork played them off the park and if they didn't change their tactic of dropping the ball onto Ó'Halpín's head at the edge of the square, to driving it into the corner, Cork would have won by more than the 10points they did win by!

However, that result will have no meaning in the next game, but I have seen enough of both Cork and Tip this year to believe we can certainly take them!

Cork V Tipp in the U21 hurling tonight is live on TG4 from 7.15, throw in 7.30.

This has the makings of a very good game but we've had torrential rain in Cork in the last hour in particular, so I expect underfoot conditions to be fairly crap.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,170 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Ft Cork 0-17 v Tipp 0-18

Cork were 2 or 3 points ahead for most of the game and were 4 points up with 8mins left. Tipp got 3 fast scores and were apoint down with 5 to go and with injury time approaching took the lead for the first time in the game.
Not a bad game of hurling given the conditions. It didn't rain during the game - actually looked quite sunny - but the the sod was wet enough. Tipp's subs made more of an impact than Corks and that was the difference in the end.

Cork were brutal from puck-outs, especially from our own.The tactic was to drive it down Lehanes throat, while it's understandable to do it, you have to vary it somewhat. You can't win matches being so one dimensional. It's a problem that seems to be plagueing Cork hurling teams at the moment, that we have no ball winner on the 40. Sweetnam was a big loss tonight and it's just a shame that it coincided with his exams but obviously they take priority. Two positives on the night were the performance of Christopher Joyce at center back and Jamie Coughlan in the corner.

Cork team to play Kerry on Sunday was named tonight.Same team that started v Mayo with some positional changes.Knowing Counihan though, there will probably be a few more come Sunday @2pm.

I do like the look of that team. There are alot of possibile switches that can be made also. Cannot wait till Sunday!!

Can see maybe Goulding coming in for Goold and Kerrigan pushing out to the wing. It's obvious the plan is to run at them when you look at the half forwards. Can't wait either as long as this rain stops!

Cork will need there asses kicked if they loose this one. We badly need a win over a less and convincing Kerry team that struggled against Tipperary.

Forget about the Tipp game, Kerry always raise their game for Cork.

The Tip game was really only a training match in truth. Kerry looked poor enough but they got over the line in first gear.
Cork really should be winning this one and I think we are capable of winning by a few points aswell. Surely we won't give them a big lead in the first half and spend the game playing catch up. Hopefully we'll get ahead, pull away and stay there!!

Wishful thinking but I'm a Pool fan.....next year is our year! And hopefully this is Corks year to put in a good 70 min performance and beat Kerry, well!

    Strange thought but

Cork footballers remind me of France in rugby. Always underperform when they face the old enemy England but could hammer every other team even the best teams. Cork can do the same but struggle against Kerry most times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,551 ✭✭✭SeaFields

Cork V Kerry in munster. Anything is liable to happen and usually does. I'd say forget everything we have seen up to this year so far from both sides.

A tight match but hopefully home advantage will play a part. With the long ball option as well that they developed of late hopefully they can vary things a bit if things start getting bogged down.

I'm off down the pairc :D

True - Kerry have a knack of grinding out results against Cork in recent years despite their form not being great.

That said, with Sheahan missing it's hard to see past Cork this weekend, looking forward to heading to it :)

A beautiful sunny morning in Cork. Leaving now for some lubrication before the game.
I reckon we'll get the bones of 30,000 down the páirc today.
Feeling confident of a good win..... strange even saying that...
    Love Championship days!!!!!!!!

Well you have this is in the bag now. 1 minute left of ET, 5 points in front.

Kerry were lacking some spirit, and Sheehan but a very good performance from Cork. Based on this ye'll be there towards the end

As a Corkman I'm happy we won but I wouldn't be too sure about Kerry not making it through the qualifiers.
If they get handy fixtures like in 2009 they could get to Croker and we all know how well they play there.
Donnacha O Connor showed great leadership again today and Goulding made a difference when he came on.

Just home from the match. A very solid and consistent display by us. Even when Kerry looked like they were getting it back into the game at the start of the second half we regrouped quickly and closed down the threat.

The full back line did well on any of the goal chances Kerry made. Canty was solid and the Donaghy high ball tactic was dealt with consistently. Cadagan did well too but really needs to watch his discipline. It's going to come back to bite him in the arse eventually.

Nick Murphy didn't do too badly in FF. Won clean ball a couple of times, pity it didnt turn into a goal, but he looked caught for pace when Kerry broke out from their full back line. Goulding very good when he came on and Kerrigan was on fire too. I think all our forwards scored from play bar Nick Murphy?

The negative tho. It would have been a lot closer only for Kerrys lack of a free taker. JOC is going to have some thinking to do if he cant get Sheehan back from injury before the qualifiers. In a scrappy game it could prove crucial.

    Overall, very pleased. :)

Happy with that. Cork needed a win badly over Kerry since 2009 and they got it. Surprised of how poor Kerry were, I thought there would only be a kick of a ball between the both sides. Still though Kerry will be around and if they meet us again I don't think we would beat them.

While we were good today there is still massive room for improvement. We had a lot of unforced errors and wayward passing that you wouldnt get away with in August or September (and to be fair, you shuldnt get away with anytime against the kingdom.)

We'll wait to see if they get through the qualifiers before worrying about beating them again ;)

Well this Kerryman was at the game but only because I didn't have to travel :pac:

Well done on the win lads and best of luck in the final - Kerry weren't there yesterday from what I can see - Cork never looked like losing it tbh.

True, Kerry missed Sheahan and his frees could have made it a tighter contest but tbqh the way Cork powered on in the closing section was very impressive - not many teams would stick with them in that form imo

The last time Cork played Dublin was the semi...2 years ago I think...Cork played for the last 10 to 15mins - and won!

That Cork team have nothing to fear from Dublin, make no mistake about it.
