Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A bit of comedic value Chunkis.

Thanks for the donation. I'll get the details of where to send it early next week. Also, would it be possible for you to get in touch with Seth again? He hasn't responded to emails I sent him. I can understand he's busy but if you can, it would help :) Thanks.

The thread here is for people on this board.
The tournament information is CLEARLY STATED on the website.
We have a stand alone website for this, we also have an official facebook/twitter page pushing this. I really dont see the need for formality on the 4th page of this thread.

When you organise events you need to be professional and as organised as you can be, you never know who is reading the forum and thinking about contacting people like ayja to run a tournament or an event, so its important to always be professional.

I put an event page up on Facebook for the tourney but I cannot figure out how to 'invite' or 'make admin' the Street Fighter Ireland profile.

    Any takers? FB = Crapness

Also, people should pass it on FB to people I wont/dont know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

I think the event might have to be created by the SF Ireland page, I'll try when I get home.

Posted a link to the NE front page for you. If you want me to add anything tell me on here or ne.

Are there going to be side tournaments? I wouldn't mind running a ST side thing :D

There may be side tourneys, it all depends on the amount of consoles and the amount of people there. If the time constraints allow, then we will :).

    Thanks for the promo :)

    No prob :)

Can we get some specifics like times, locations, and nearby hotels and stuff? There's a deal on ryan air for a flight on 16th to 19th for 30 quid :D

Not a problem. The exchange is in the middle of Dublin in Temple bar. Here is a link to it on maps. From the map, you can see that its right in the middle of town.

As for hotels, anywhere in the city centre will leave you within a 10 minute walking distance. I will contact one of the hotels close by and ask about a group discount if there are a couple of you coming over? Let me know anyway and I will see about getting a promo code for everyone attending the tourney to get a discount on a hotel stay. I will then see about putting that up on the site but I would say to use this thread as you information source. :)

The tourney itself will be on sat 18th June, from 10am till 6pm. We will be beering afterwards I am sure at some wateringhole.

    Nice one.

If you use bit.ly or some other url shortener, you can see the clicks you're receiving and where from.

edit; also submit it to Keits as news, to get a front page mention.

This looks epic , fair play. Hope to make it too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

What's the maximum occupancy of exchange, by law?

I was there when i think there was mid 30's in the tournament plus quite a few spectators (including two incredibly argumentative self proclaimed biggest otaku in ireland types, ladies guard your loins) and while there was room, it seemed to me that to hold double that plus equip might be infeasible.

Since it's quite possible we might reach a 64 entries.. it might be good to know.

Oh and Tasty, I'll make sure to give you a few games of HDR or ST on a lappy, sometime during the day

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,237 ✭✭✭Owwmykneecap

    Also while I'm at it;

the evo page on sf.ie, needs a link to the sf.ie front page, as after you reg there's nothing to do on the page.

And here's a qr code for the evo page on sf.ie

    Hi guys,

This is a provisional timetable for the EVO tournaments.

9.45 - 10.15am registrations for tournaments. Create brackets and layout tourney. I will have a few people taking names.
10.30 - MVC Double elimination brackets begins and run on 8 of the xboxs set up. Dreddy will run this. (Thanks Dreddy!)
10.30 - Blaz Blue Double Elimination brackets begins and run on the other 4 xboxs. Joe & Voa will run this.

13.00 - SSF4 starts on 4 xboxs of Blaz Blue. (I need a volunteer to run this tourney for the pools/groups anyway. (Dan? Dan? Hey Dan, Dan?) As I can see this being finished first. Then, as the MVC winds down to final, other xboxs will be used for SSF4 tourney. This is the main event and as such will take over all consoles. I can run 1/4 finals of MVC to final on 2 machines concurrently if necessary. This tourney will be groups/pools through to double elim.

At about 4pm I will free up two xboxs for MK9 single elim tourney.

This is provisional and will take teh co-operation of the community to make it happen.

The setup will consist of 5 stations along the window and 3 more against the wall beside it. There will be an additional 4 stations along the opposite wall beside the toilet. This will leave the centre of the exchange free for people to be and view matches.

If anyone has multi plug extension thingys, label it as yours and bring it with you :).

The cost of entry will be €5 entry to the tournament and €10 euro for each tournament (This is provisional but won't be far off it). I have tried to structure it as best I can to facilitate people playing all tournaments.

On the day I will have 4 tourney reg tables and one at the main entrance to take event entries.

The timeline for this was always going to be tight so I would ask that people get there on time. It will make it alot more difficult if people are late etc. I appreciate that it it a tall order so some people coming from !Dublin. I might make a suggestion for couch crashing or the likes. I have one bedroom available for a weary traveler and two couches. Its on offer to people from afar if Zeus approves.

    Thats all for now.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

I might take you up on the offer of the bedroom there for the friday and the Saturday, AJ, would you be looking for anything in return? ( like a small sum of money and / or obviously helping with setting up the venue in the morning and tidying up afterwards. )

Balls, anyone know a good cheap hotel near the venue then? I think it would be a good idea if as many of us who are travelling for this try and all book into the same hotel.

    Hi guys,

I have finalized (mostly) the entry fees and tournament fees for the Evo Qualifier Event on 18th June.

    Event Entry : €5

    Tournaments
Super Street Fighter - Arcade Edition : €15 (Groups & Double Elim)

    Marvel v Capcom : €10 (Double Elim)

Blaz Blue : €10 (Double Elim)

Mortal Kombat : €5 (Single Elim)

    Prizes (So far..)
SSF4 - Flights to Las Vegas and Entry into EVO.

Marvel V Capcom - Madcatz Limited Edition Chun Li TE fightstick

Blaz Blue - 12 Month Xbox Live Subscription (Thanks to Gamesnash for this donation. Their on-going support for this community is greatly appreciated)

Mortal Kombat - Free entry to ArcadeCon (http://www.facebook.com/ArcadeCon) on 1st - 3rd July, 2011 in D4 Hotels, Ballsbridge. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056232804 . This has been kindly donated to us by the organizers of that convention. Thank you, Its much appreciated.

"Gentlemen….There are no points for second place." There is first and nowhere else! GET HYPE!

The SSF4 prize will be allocated as following:
The top 8 for the SSF4 tournament will all have until 22nd June to email me about whether or not they can make it to EVO in Vegas. (Remember, there are people who work, study, cannot afford etc) This will allow each of the top 8 to see if they can make the necessary arrangements to go. I will then, starting at 1st and working my way down in order, give the prize to the person who placed highest and who has confirmed that they can go. If I have no received an email from someone before midnight on the 22nd June, they will forfeit their option. In the unlikely event that all of the top 8 cannot go, it will goto the people from 9th-16th. Each placing will determine the preference as above. Rinse and repeat until we have a traveler.

    Additional Items
There will be a random raffle at the tournament for all those who registered at http://evo.streetfighter.ie. Anyone not registered for the event beforehand will have to pay a €5 entry for the raffle. The prize is another Madcatz Limited Edition Chun Li TE fightstick!

Not much else for now. I will update with more information as we get closer. We currently have 47 people registered on the website for the event. If you haven't already done so you are only taking yourself out of the running for a free TE! Only takes a second and helps us plan better.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Yes you can and your name will be entered twice/as many times as you buy. It is a completely random draw and a great prize.
