No harm in questioning why he didn't enjoy working there?

Absolutely not but your post suggested there was a number of posts saying it wasn't a good place to work. Any thread with feedback unanimously one way or the other should set off alarm bells.

My opinion, for what it's worth, not perfect but I'm yet to find a workplace that is.

Yeah it's pretty thorough tbh, however once you didn't blow up the building you'll be five presuming everything else checks out

    Ahh ok :) thanks

BE WARNED - NOT ALL IT IS CRACKED UP TO BE!!!

I'm in retention since February this year and it has not lived up to my expectations...
If you like change at short notice then this is the place for you..
Shifts are rubbish and lately they are changed on a daily basis to "suit business needs".
Example is been given a days notice to go from early to late or vice versa.
Management are a joke and still after 3 months they do not know what is a save or not which is how you make commission. This also changes daily...
They ask you to be flexible, but you get a warning for been late, but if you are stuck on a call for an hour after shift you get no time in lieu etc

In summary, if you like change and poor management then this is the place for you...

Completely agree with this. Retention sucks. Poor management who are clueless. Very hard to get a TL who knows anything or even willing to help you.

TLs are also pretty new to Sky (relatively speaking)

You guys have other resources available (which i wont go into but you know what they are) so use it.

I is very much a two way street, if you learn something new/interesting, email your team and TL, knowledge gets disseminated and overall you have a better experience if you have a challenging call

Also, as myself and others have said, this a new contact centre for Sky ireland, everyone is learning that includes you, the TLs and the management

You can be sure they arent sitting there not giving a fcuk about what is going on, they are there trying to fix things and make it better for you and the customers.

Well said Helimachopter, it's a learning curve, but you get back what you put in and you'll enjoy (speaking for myself) doing it.

I understand its all new and appreciate that. Even between departments the calls I get transferred from other agents are a joke, things other departments could take care of for a customer and take owenrship of. I feel there's a lot of ppl passing the buck around.

Retentions deal with cancelations if your getting any other calls transfer them

    Hi,
Have round 1 interview coming up and was just wondering could someone please give me some advice. Is it a group interview or is it one on one? I wouldn't be a great public speaker in front of a group so absolutely terrified. I have read through the thread about doing a presentation but is this just to 1 person or is it in front of a group?
If someone could pm some info that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just got an email saying I wasn't successful. Feel very hard done by to be honest. Nailed the first part of the second interview . It was about a customer who had 3 packages and was threatening to leave due to competitors prices she does not really use two packages so u just downgrade her slightly and so fort. Did out savings percentage wise versus the competitor and explained that she was saving more with sky ba bla ba......and did youre best to met customers needs

then I had the phone interview which was a basic sky reset...I was very polite and then had to make small talk durin 4 mins of the reboot and try to sell add ons......to be honest it was a bit nerve racking....the customer left happy and I fixed the problem...I was brought to a room after the call and asked if u would be happy if you where the customer ? and I replied that the problem was fixed and I was polite but I was a bit hesitant because the packages where quite a new thing for me and that I would take advantage of the 8 weeks training to improve this....was just being honest ....my phone manner was exceptional......bit dazzled to be honest .....

I'm going to be quite blunt sorry. Sky look for a certain personality - I'm not in their HR department or high up in their structure so this is purely from looking at the people around me. They look for a type of person that is fairly pliable, nice, happy go lucky type person. Your post doesn't seem to suggest a fit with that. That's not a criticism just an observation.

Thanks for youre opinion. But I couldn't of been a nicer individual on the two days just disappointed and I think that kind of comes across in the post. Just want to give others heads up because I looked at this thread for pointers for my first assessment which I got and I though I would try to return the favour .................maybe I should of not try and put my leg around my head when they asked if I was flexible, and wearing the gimp mask might not of went went down as well as I would of liked jk :D

Hi all, I have my 1st round interview next week and am a tad nervous tbh. I don't mind public speaking and enjoy socialising with other people a lot. I've read through most of the pages but I wonder if someone would be so kind to PM me with a few pointer's/tips. Thanks a million in advance for any help.

    Hi :)

I have a 1st round interview next week with Sky and I am hoping one of you lovely folks would pm me with the details of what happens on the day and what I can expect.

    Thanks so much

Hey all. I applied for the service advisor role in December. got a call yesterday inviting me to an assestment day next week. Only thing is ill be out of the country and cannot re-arrange !! I'm raging but the lady who called me said she will try rearrange and if not ill be called in with the next hire. Im hoping she can but i'm in a job at the moment so it would be worse if I had no job and couldn't make interview!!

Does anyone know can you get the free sky installed in your parents home if your not living there? I already have a tv package and my parents would benefit more from it than me.

Yes. One of my colleagues got hers into her parents house in Galway. Clear with the relevant department and should be grand.
