Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeh seen mine today. I could download the app. But just said coming to Ireland soon.

Any sign of it coming soon on xbl? I just had a gander on the IE & UK avvounts and no sign of the app, however if you look here https://signup.netflix.com/ it seems o be offering it on the xbox

Dunno about 360 but its working on the PS3.

Selection of stuff is woeful. I genuinely wouldnt pay €2pm for as bad a selection as that. (let alone €7pm)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Not a huge selection, but some good stuff up there. They are still in talks with Sony and some other big studios I think so the collection will probably improve.

I could see myself using this to finally get around to watching Breaking Bad & Dr Who. Some decent movies up there but not a lot of them.

Can cancel anytime so I guess you could use it till you've seen all you want to see and then cancel. :)

I don't know - quick glance seems to show some interesting stuff on there! Better than I was expecting, anyway.

Gonna give it a whirl on PS3 now and see how it works.

Free trial is working for me on the PC, would be nice to get it going on the xbox, good addition to 4od

I just created an american xbl account to download the app to see if it will work for me.
Xbox usually release updates for stuff, including new apps, on wednesdays.

Go to: Hotmail.com and create an account.
Create it preferably in the region you want to have your xbl account set up for, US or UK.

When thats done head over to xbox.com and scroll to the bottom. Again, chose the region. In this sense, pick United states.
Now make a new xbl account using your newly made email address.
(for the zip code, i used 10017. Its central parks zip, ;) Dont forget the password you give the account.
When the account is up and running you will be given a randomised gamertag.

Now, go to your xbox and sign out. And chose sign in.
Instead of signing in with an account saved, go to the right and pick download account.

Put in your email address and password of your created account.
You will then download the profile and have a free membership in the region you made it for.
This means you can download apps such as 4od from the UK site and use it with your irish gold account.

Download the apps you want and then sign in with your regular profile. Go into your apps and it should be there. :)

Had a quick look at it and the selection of shows and films on offer doesn't look great. Even in 'recent films', most of them are at least 2 years old.

Annoyed as well that they made the effort to add a load of British shows and added a 'British Films' section, while we were just an afterthought with no Irish shows added and no Irish Films added.

Am I missing the rest of the available movies? The site says "1000s" but I can browse only 100 or so??

The kids animated section makes this completely worth it.
X-Men, Spiderman, Beyblade, Hey Arnold, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Sonic O_O

If you go to Taste Profile and Taste Preferences, the amount of sub-genres to rate is huge. Actually a pretty good selection of stuff I'd watch on my Home screen after going though all that.

According to this Netflix is close to signing Sony, Disney and Paramount so that will add a lot more content.

I hadn't signed up when looking around initially, and for some reason the "Browse" section shows a load of crap before you join!! Hardly a good advertisement. But everything is available now that I've signed up :)

I just signed up, kinda happy. Some shows on there that I have to watch to geek out on like firefly or doll house (shame to say I didn't see them yet)

And while I own Buffy and Angel in iTunes, WTH is it on Netflix!?

Also a bug on 24, Only showing seasons 1-4 when there are 8.

EDIT: Who owns the rights to Buffy for the european market?

US apps seem to be IP locked. So the likes of HULU wont work over here. :(
    Although, the UFC app works.
The 4OD app thats available through the UK accounts is a must though. Works exceptionally well. :)

I'm just saying I think over the week the catalogue should beef up as films are promised to be on there like Pulp Fiction, Lord of the Rings etc as check the Netflix press releases etc. And if MGM does James Bond... hehe!

It worked for me automatically I think, I watched an episode of South Park in HD and after a few seconds at bad quality it loaded in HD, I could be wrong though I'm sitting a good bit back and wasn't paying attention fully

Very pleased with the service, although there's a serious back log of tv shows missing from the service you'd expect to be there.

Hey CMpunkedI got it downloaded with my American account and I am on it now on my Irish one. When it loads it says are you a Netflix user - Yes/No. I choose no and it asks do I want a free trial and to go to netflix.com/xbox

Do I sign in with my facebook to do this? Do I need to cancel the service before the month as they will charge the credit card there after automatically?

    Cheers man.

    From here: http://www.gmrfm.com/3811

    1. Sign into your Xbox live profile. You’ll need a Gold account in order for this to work.

    2. Go to the “Bing” search engine on the left and type in “Netflix” into the search bar, press down to highlight “start search for: netflix” and press A. Normally video apps appear in the app marketplace, however the Netflix app will not be available there.

    3. Click on the red Netflix app (it should be the first result) and download.

    4. When the download is complete, you’ll find the netflix app in the “My Video Apps” section under the video header.

    5. You can then either setup an account online through a PC here, or you can create one through the app on your 360. I highly recommend creating one through PC as I definitely know it works this way. Also, your first month is free!

    6. Sign in using your login details. Enjoy!

How do I register online? I am trying to use the 1 month free trial with facebook but I cant progress any further than terms and conditions. Also I would prefer to create an account rather than linking one to facebook.

EDIT: Sorry nevermind I am in work and just checked my phone and there are more options available!

I am not sure what problem you are having with T&C. You should register on a 360, PS3, Wii or iPad if you can - it bypasses the Facebook option

Yeah all signup buttons are hidden/blocked in work! Checked on the phone and I can sign up with just my email aswell. happy days! Been waiting for netflix for soo long :D

No - there's a small hyperlink at the bottom of that 1-Month Trial box that says "or sign up using email". Would probably be preferrable if you aren't on Facebook, or you would just prefer to have the two accounts separate.

    Or use the link https://signup.netflix.com/home?country=1&rdirfdc=true#useemail
Adding &useemail to the end of the signup URL switches the signup form to the email one.

The site is pretty poorly laid out and not showing any sample content for users before they sign up is a bit bogey. What is there to encourage you to sign up other than a free month offer and brand recognition?

Does anyone have a list or decent link to the list of TV programs or movies available at launch? The US site lets you browse through some of the content to see what's available before signing up. Not doing that over here makes it look like they are a little ashamed of the selection that is available at launch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭heebusjeebus

Connected to it via Facebook. Had to change my password to get it to run on the Android app though. Really impressed with the quality of the stream on my phone.
When I get home tonight I'll try some movies and some of the hd content with my ps3.
