Swabs have outrun announced cases in recent days so expect a nice hefty number tonight to give everybody that Friday scare and coincide with MM speech about being careful ahead of Christmas.

They might even scrape a 6,000 type figure today, that will make those new restrictions a little easier for the public to swallow.

It is hard not to be cynical at this stage, apologies.

Would we not usually have gotten sub committee/cabinet leaks by now?

Likewise Goldengirl. Labelling anti Vaccine to someone who’s fully vaccinated asking valid questions is another attempt at not debating. You mention ‘dodgy websites’. Which ones are they? I usually quote mainstream media but I did on ONE occasion post a mask survey from a website I didn’t know the background of. Funny RTÉ & mainstream media are full of misinformation and pure crap of late - fake polls on Claire Byrne, planted audience guests asking ‘questions’. No journalists are actually asking any proper questions of the politicians or NPHET, they’re just baying for more restrictions and hysteria with leading questions.

I’m opposed to covid passports when 95% of adults are now vaccinated. It’s unnecessary and seems to be more aimed at dividing people and segregating than actually suppressing Covid. Otherwise there would be test requirements on it.

I’m opposed to use of coercive boosters on Covid passes - it will never end if that comes in. We’ve the government now talking of changing the vaccine definition to ‘3 dose vaccine’ instead of booster to try and make them more mandatory.

I’m opposed to vaccination of healthy children ages 5-11 until proper data comes out. I don’t think the data is sufficient and this group are not adversely affected from Covid most of the time. It should always be a choice.

I’m completely opposed to mandatory vaccination, it should never be an option. Head of the EU dropping that yesterday plus Austria & Germany’s actions should be ringing every poster’s alarm bells. Instead we’ve posters suggesting we ‘discuss’ this option.

I make no apology for any of these views - they are not anti vaccine.

15,000 cases a day is a lie. Not even possible for our population.

    Tony's last hurrah.

Sorry GG you are obviously not at all informed on whats happening in Germany. Germany has been a total sh1tshow for months due to the election and every whacko needing to demand or say something every single day. This week the Bundeverfassungsgericht has in retrospect approved all of last years lockdown measures. Regardless of any evidence or lack thereof. Apparently the government trotting out a few experts declaring doomsday was good enough reason to suspend civil liberties and will be in the future. No evidence for the actual emergency necessary or the measures or even their effectiveness not even in retrospect. Strangely enough no one expected much else since Angela has installed her crony as chief justice in June 2020 who had never worked even as a judge before. The playbook is now confirmed and of course first thing the new chancellor (in waiting) declares is that there are no more red lines (in terms of oppression) and that he supports a vaccine mandate but he will let the parliament decide (isn't he a real democrat). The government and practically the entire political scene (no one opposes this, only the mad AFD) has only one line and that is permanent escalation, framing, segregation and authoritarian pressure. Covid measures have been brought in and still are by the Ministerpraesidenten conference with Angela. This is a political entity that doesnt even exist in the constitution. Just made up on the spot. This is before I get into the manipulation of information, the actual reduction of hospital/ICU capacity over the last two years and the list goes on and on. I could write an essay here.

I can genuinely hand on heart say with full conviction that the German government does not appear in any way committed or even motivated to end this pandemic/situation. At least in Ireland I still get the feeling the government hates this as much as we do.

Germany is not on a very slippery slope, Germany is going down that slope full pelt following Austria.

They went straight from a sub committee meeting to a Cabinet meeting so no time for that. Usually there is an evening and morning before, which is plenty of time for leaks.

Yeah I'd be expecting a 6000+ in the next few days so NPHET can say they got their 6000-15000 prediction for January spot on..just out by a month.

Could it be every 2 wks?

I saved a report from the 13/11 and haven't seen one since although I've not been looking.

The saved one includes a section 4.0 Vaccination status that's not in the most recent report

Using our current 7 day positivity rate of almost 15% that is nearly 100,000 tests a day!

Hypocrisy is a great trait to possess in a debate. Trump made a very successful tactic of this, as did the Brexiteers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Well, it is at a positivity rate of about 40%!

You'd have to get to a situation where you were only testing people with symptoms for that and that the actual amount of cases was huge to even allow for that testing practice really.

If you had a positivity rate of that, you'd actually be saying we could be pushing 80k cases a day id reckon since you're missing everyone asymptomatic.

Anyone affected due to government orders, should be compensated with the exact same salary, as well as payment for distress caused by this rubbish.

They can tax those unaffected to pay for it.

I actually can't deal with seeing Martin waffling on again.

It really is incredible to start firing out figures when you have absolutely no idea what you are dealing with. Even if it ends up being right which they very rarely are it's still so unprofessional .

Imagine this kip closing down night clubs yet again.

The country has abandoned younger people again, as it regularly does.

NPHET are now modelling numbers based on a variant that little is known about. This is basically free reign for NPHET to make up any old nonsense. Lost for words.
