thats an incredible deal to buy something like that in parts you would be looking at 2-3 times the price or to buy the equivalent new from dell it would be around the €2000 area.

id be tempted to pick one up if i had the moneyz "resting" in my account

Buying those parts seperately would not cost 2-3 grand. Especially since it doesn't include a monitor or at least it doesn't look like it does.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 674 ✭✭✭jonny72

    Theres no monitors..

The 8800GTX is about 450 euro new from komplett

The processor costs about the same..

Its a good deal if you need a good gaming PC.

    Whats the warranty?

    12 months standard warranty.

The price looks great but the Dell ebay site is notorious for attracting tools who don't know when to stop bidding and go way over the odds.
A few of these systems have come up in the last week or so and the starting price was the same but they all ended around the 1600-1800 euro mark.
Maybe this time supply will outstrip demand.

Yeah I noticed that unreal some people just don't know when to stop. I've seen people getting into a bidding war about 2 hours before the close.

If that's the case, then good thinking on Dell's part.
They're getting top dollar for the machines.
Not great for the "punters in the know" though.

have another look, some estimates of the price to buy some of the
parts below, and these are estimates based on the lowest from a site like
komplett, obviously ur a punter not really in the know!

if some one got a machine that like for 1200 euro its a bargin
considering an quad core QX6700 and 8800 GTX gfc alone
would cost you a grand and if someone could provide a link to
with cheaper prices then pls feel free.

These are "reconditioned" PCs and may contain scratches etc.

If you dont mind that then they're a bargain but expect to pay in the region of €1500 for the cheaper ones and €2000 for the dearer ones.

dont forget that the Video is 'Dual' so would that be about €900?

When I was comparing these PCs to the Dell site I noticed that two of the XPS 720 machines with Vista will allow you to change to a 3.0GHz for free. Should be 1100+. Unfortunately I just realized that I have no wish to buy a new machine.

Wow, nice spot. I didn't even notice that. Exceptional value for money. As long as you know when to stop bidding.

    Awww F*****CK!

My XPS just arrived today €2,250. Same spec, but got the 24" Delll monitor for free. Why did I have to look at Boards.ie right at this moment.

Is it too late to cancel!? :(:o

Theres the proper link to all the auctions. Keep in mind they are all refurbed systems, the original problem may still not be addressed. Still a great deal on some.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,459 ✭✭✭T-b0n3

last two just went for a grand a piece.

Really tempted to get in on the action.

Although its a little bit expensive and over spec'ed for my needs etc.

Some of the XPS's are 710's some are 720's.. the XPS 720 is watercooled, and has some faster parts, will go for much more.. 1500 - 1700

There is still a huge load of 710's for sale today, do not bid more than 900 euros for them (I usually put a bid of 906.99, don't put round figures) it will be 30 for postage, that is a brilliant deal if you want a top of the line gaming PC. One has already gone for its minimum price

I've been buying PC's off this site for years. These are the best value pc's in Ireland bar none IF you know what you are looking for. Some go for higher prices, but after awhile you can spot the ones that go for very low prices.

This site only supplies to Ireland, so that means there is a limited amount of customers.

Learn how to bid, pick a max price that you would pay, put that on in the last 10 seconds of the auction (or 5 seconds). If you miss it, move onto the next one. Never get into a bidding war. I have won plenty of PC's at disgustingly low prices by doing this.

The seller is 'Dellfactoryoutlet', no others, I have never ever once had a problem with any of the PCs.

This seller is very erratic, sometimes there's no PC's for 2 or 3 days, then there is a huge glut or laptops or core2duo desktops. Today it just happens to be a glut of XPS's.

The brilliant thing is, the average layman doesn't know how fast PC's are now, because of the core2duos and AMDs being all different clock speeds that are confusing to someone who is not in the know.

Finally if you don't know how to bid on ebay or don't know much about PC's just steer clear.

The 720s are a much higher spec than the 710s yet only have have the same starting price.

bought a decent spec dimension 9200 there 6 months ago
was in perfect condition and no problems with it

Starting price is a little higher (over 1000), but I wouldn't imagine you'd get one for less than 1300 anyway. The ones for tomorrow are already being bid on. They're beasts though.
