Gonna head into The RAGE on Monday or Tuesday and see whats left.
Hopefully the have a few bits of interest.
I won some Swarovski vouchers in work, wonder can I trade them for retro things:D

I've stuck them on adverts so hopefully I can get an old beat up console instead of some shiny crystally thingys.

Super Mario Sunshine is vastly underrated by gamers, it may, perhaps, be the weakest of the 3D Mario games but it is head and shoulders above anything appearing on the PS2 and Xbox at the time.
I started it up again recently and was pleasantly surprised.
Now the setting still grates a bit, the pursuit of the shadow Mario is a drag at times but other than that its a blast.
The water and mud effects are very nice indeedy.

Mario Sunshine is massively enjoyable. I loved it. It had it's flaws, some of the shines were a bit too hard and the blue coins were a stupid idea and since there's no way to keep track of them you need a faq to find them all. It gets unfairly criticised due to being not up to the same standards as the rest of the mario series. It's far better than ratchet and clank, Jak and Daxter or any other pretenders to the crown.

Went to Rage earlier got me some Gameboy games.
Terminator 2 by LJN:eek: (has to be garbage)
    Gargoyles Quest
    Waverace
    Missile command

Ah ****e didn't know gargoyles quest was there!

Terminator 2 on GB is indeed one of the worst games ever made. AVGN covered it.

Did any recent RAGE visitors notice if a)Shenmue 2 Xbox was still there and b) how much it was?

The guy says he isn't selling Shenmue 2 until he beats it himself.

As far as I'm aware a Mega Drive 2 PSU differs from a Mega Drive 1 with regard to the connection on the console end (I think it's smaller), and your Mega Drive sounds like it's an Asian PAL model and not a Japanese model and will display at 50hz.

Here's my latest acquisitions this past two weeks:

    NewPSOne.jpg

SNES game is Turtles in Time
    Gameboy game is DuckTales
    and
GBA game is Crash Nitro Racing

I loved the Syphon Filter series when they originally came out so I'll enjoy replaying them. I never owned any of the games, just rented/ borrowed them before.
Deathtrap Dungeon I remember to have been pretty hard, not just in terms of AI but also figgity controls... should be fun.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,843 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Syphon filters aged quite badly. Hope you're not too disappointed.

Visited Balbriggan market this morning, looker pretty poor but then found a saitek snes fight stick, tunnel b1 for the ps1, the Go Ape music cd from around the launch of Donkey Kong Country and, the best of the lot, a perfect Nes Four Score multiplayer adaptor, all for a fiver. Saw some PS controllers but they were very grubby I'll get some again.

Feck it, strolled back and got two grubby PS controllers and an Xbox memory card for 3 euro. I couldn't resist!

So, what the heck is that in the last photo? A pokemon game before it was called pokemon? A knock off? I am entirely ignorant of the whole field so forgive me, please...

It's just the Japanese version of Pokémon green. We got Blue and Red over here and instead of Blue, they got Green in Japan! It's the exact same game though

It's a weird one. I bought a Snes in a charity shop years ago with about 20 games. All the games came with their booklets and any other documents which were in the boxes...just no boxes.

You think if someone was freakish enough to want to keep every single bit of paper that came with the game then they'd have kept the boxes too?

For $899 you could own one of the two known Atari Jaguar 2 prototypes!

I'd quite like to buy one of those AVP sample carts.

    Yeah, A bargain indeed :D

I have the Catbox at home but it looks different than the one he's selling.
My one is stealth black in colour instead of the metalic silver on his one.

Did they make more than one type?

Haven't a clue about your Catbox. Is it made by ICD?

I didn't realize those things were so expensive.

    That's not freakish at all.

I did that as a kid (still would if games weren't DS-small/optical discs).

You keep the manual because it shows you how to play.
You discard the game box because it's just worthless nuisance.
And you keep the console box because it's big & you can store all your crap in it :)

Nice! I loved Starblade. If I remember rightly it had a gimmick cabinet screen no? Wasn't it 3D or something? I forget. Not like the Sega Time Traveller hologram game I mean.

Something about that FZ-10 design I love too, one of the better looking consoles I think.

Congratulations on a fun purchase. :)

A few nice items this week

First up, most recent purchase at the car boot sale this morning. Not much at all at it but did come across a lady who was selling a bunch of random controllers and accessories so picked up a Dreamcast VMU, SNES controller and Rumble pak (I think) from her for €2. She had lots of DC controllers and a few GB games but I didn't really want more.

    IMG_0122.jpg

Not really a purchase but was clearing out my nanny attic for stuff she wanted to sell at the car boot sale and came across a honeybee MD adapter that I thought was throw out long ago!

    IMG_0123.jpg

Then picked up from a fellow boardsie the Jap Pokémon green. It's in great condition and every leaflet it with it! Also the Jap GB game boxes are amazingly cute.

    IMG_0125.jpg

And then finally the Jap Pokémon channel. It was brand new and sealed but I want to play it :P Comes with the game disc and then another disc that has something to do with pikachu. But the actual plastic case is in this cool translucent yellow :D Also comes with some e-reader cards inside too! Anyone know if the cards are region locked? I've a US e-reader.

    IMG_0124.jpg

So yeah! That'll be the extent of my purchases for a while :P

Pointless yolks. They are akin to cutting the tabs on the cart slot. They dont do any region bypassing at all. Just physical.

Regarding Starblade, it was not in 3d but was on a large curved screen via projection, filled your peripheral vision so appeared more.immersive.

In Balbriggan market just now, picked up a bunch of gba games for a fiver and also, at another stall I got a PS multitap, a PS2 multitap, a playstation mouse and a Malcolm negcon all for a fiver as well! So a good trip out.
They also have a complete original Xbox there as a firstgen PS, easy to run backups on one of those, I have 3 ps' already so to buy another would be greedy!

Not really, digimon racing, some scooby doo games, an xmen2 game, I'll have to have a look through the bag when i get home.
Very pleased with the multitaps and the mouse though. I can play Alien Resurrection properly now! And play 4 player Crash Team Racing on the tiny psone screen!

I picked up some GameBoy games yesterday in Gamesexchange on Talbot street. 3 for 2 offer so I got Final Fantasy Adventure, Contra and Pokemon Red.

Shop Keeper had them in a box behind they counter and if he hadn't said it to me I wouldn't have known he had any. He said he has a few boxes of SNES and N64 games loose behind there so just ask if you're ever in there.

I did have a look at the SNES games but they weren't great.
