Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aldi 'Savour bakes' Crispbreads are basically ryvitas. Only 79c per pack compared to 1.50 for ryvita brand.

Thoroughly delicious with some butter slobbered on them.

Thanks a million, just bought these crackers tonight. You're right! They taste exactly like Jacob's crackers.

Their washing powder is the best powder detergent you can buy (bio and non bio). I do not rate their conditioner at all, it is not a patch on comfort/lenor/fairy IMHO.

Almat Bio with Stain-Lift (Aldi) gets 89% and comes third in the best buy table on Which.co.uk

Well it is the only one that gets mucky rugby kits clean after one wash! It used to take me 2 washes with all the other brands!

So as a big tea drinker who has always bought Lyons tea I decided the try McGrath tea bags from Aldi. 80 bags for 1.50 - having my first cup and not bad at all

Anyone recommend the own brand chewing gum from Aldi/Lidl? Taste, texture, mintiness etc

I dont like either, find the taste goes after about five minutes. A waste of money imo.

Have tried some of these and found the flavour disappears very quickly compared to Wrigley's Extra.

Aldi Mcgraths reserve tea bags, Tikka Masala sauces with spice on top, basmati rice, tin os beans, frozen peas all nom nom, their Milk is a1 too, infact 90% of their stuff is brilliant imo.

Aldi's Bourbon (Clarkes) is basically re-bottled Jim Beam by far the best of the own brand Bourbons.

Yeah I have to agree with the other posters. Both texture and longevity of the flavour were very poor.

I just stick to buying the 5-pack of Wrigley's extra from Dunnes/Tesco etc. They are a lot cheaper than buying a single packet in a shop.

Aldi own-brand 'Bailey's' knock-off- is very very nice. As is their vintage Clontarf Whiskey (though its not cheap).

Aldi seeded gluten free brown bread, €1.89. Best gluten free bread I've ever eaten. :)

Pretty sure their Gluten free bread is baked by Gallaghers Bakery Ardara Donegal.

We've just moved our main shopping to Aldi from Supervalu, and to be honest I find the Aldi stuff pretty good.

Lidl have two - I find the Deluxe one fine, the other one (Dun Dealgan branded I think) is the cheaper one.

I've posted this in the beauty forum, but the SuperValu own brand cosmetics "Pure+Kind" are excellent, and around the €4 mark.

The mint crisp sweets from Aldi are better than sex.

99c for a bag but there isn't enough in them so I get 2 or 3!

You should try the Aldi mint thins. They're similar to after eights but half the price. Initially I thought they weren't as nice as after 8s but, having tried and tested them extensively, I prefer them now!

In general, Aldi dark chocolate products are excellent - as good as or better than mainstream brands - but I don't like their milk chocolate.

I have an addiction to Lidl Helado Huracán. These are seriously way nicer than twisters.

They went out of stock in November...a sad day for the parish indeed. But since about 2 weeks ago they are back. Happy facking days!

Aldi essential tea bags are most repugnant.
Whoever let them retail at all?

Aldi 2 litre milk that claims to be Irish is I think actually from UK.....Northern Ireland.
The branding all over the container leads you to think it's Irish milk but the oval tag at the side says UK NI which as far as I know means the milk is actually from the North.
    Very very misleading.

ROI flag means nothing. Can mean it was poured into a plastic carton made in Ireland or the label was Irish etc.. The litres are Irish though.

For milk or other dairy products look out for the NDC (National Dairy Council) on the label. Only Irish milk will have the NDC emblem.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you get NDC signs on cheese?

Forgive me- its on Milk and Cream- not cheese.

Any of the following suppliers are Irish and use Irish ingredients in their products:
    • Arrabawn Co-operative Society Ltd.
    • Clóna Dairy Products Society Ltd.
    • Donegal Creameries
    • Dawn Dairies (a division of the Kerry Group)
    • North Cork Co-operative Creameries Ltd.
    • Centenary Thurles Co-operative Society Ltd.
    • Connacht Gold Co-operative Society Ltd. t/a Sligo Dairies
    • Glanbia Consumer Foods (a division of Glanbia plc)
    • Lee Strand Co-operative Creamery Ltd.
    • Wexford Creamery Ltd.

Yes...that's the strange thing. I have the one litre as well and it has the NDC logo on the front and IE is in the oval tag.

aldi double cream is from Strathroy Co. Tyrone but does that mean we whould shun it ? good product good price made on this island. Perhaps staunch republicans/perhaps not but should we care ? Who cares if the financial benefit of this product lines Westminster pockets not Dail Eireann but once its not shipped to hong Kong repacked and imported its better than French/ Spainish / etc etc air miles and co.:)

That's not the issue. The issue is the higher standards beef and milk production is subjected to in the south but not the north . Nothing to do with religion.

No need for a rant. I was merely making the point that the labelling is misleading.
By the way does it make someone a staunch republican just because I'd prefer to buy goods produced in my own country if at all possible?

my post wasn't aimed at anyone or anything.. it was more for discussion on goods made a few miles up the road vs other imports. apologies if it sounded like a go. BTW religion wasnt mentioned, political persuasion was mentioned to highlight the point i was ( badly) trying to make.
