Yeah just had my heart set on this guy - its kind of rat pack/ Michael Buble stuff. Anyone any suggestions of good reception entertainers?

Yeah stickybookmark, himself designed the invites and he's really proud of them!

I really really hope it doesn't last two weeks. Our RSVP deadline is the 28th October.

This is a bit disheartening after our drinks reception singer sent us an email saying he was cancelling our booking and returning our deposit because the hotel requested details of his insurance and he doesnt have any. I sorted it with the hotel and they will cover him under their policy but he hasn't responded to two emails and I don't have a phone number for him.

Just feels like one thing after another...and I just want an easy life!

Our RSVP deadline is the 10th, so I really hope it doesn't go on all next week. I'd say we've about 20 RSVP's out of 120 invites! I thought I was doing alright until I wrote it down.

Sorry, can't help with the drinks reception singer. Hopefully your original guy gets back to you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 439 ✭✭CBFi

I'd say just start ringing people once you're coming up to your deadline to give numbers to the hotel? I'd worry that things would get lost in the post anyway with all this so I wouldnt rely on the post. we'll get there.

I was just coming on to write about the postal strike...raging! We have our invites ready to go, the ones that are going away foreign were to be posted yesterday n I'm hoping by midweek that it will all be ok for posting of the rest.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭kildareash

I think they're just threatening 2 weeks to get a reaction. A one or two day postal strike wouldn't have the same effect.
I'm saying that out loud to reassure myself and then quietly panicking on the inside.
I'm half thinking of scrapping the evening invites and just texting/emailing or facebooking any one we can't hand deliver an invite to.

I can't belive the wedding is so close now. I'm really starting to get excited when the rsvp's are coming back. I met some of my relatives last night and everyone is just really looking forward to it. Give you the warms and fuzzies that people are genuinely so excited about it.

Got a few DIY bits done and I've changed my plans for other stuff and simplified it a bit. Pinterest fail is a good wedding theme though isn't it.....

Id be with you Kildareash id say they are just threats like all else and that the post would be fine id say give it a week max and start posting.. There is always emails too just incase..

Invites sent and getting RSVPs. Yippee!!

Update on wedding singer - he went and made another booking although i had got back to him 10 mins later. so more money for drinks!

I'm surprised by the amount of rsvp's we have back and by the people who haven't so far.
If I'm ever invited to a wedding in the future I'm confirming by txt when I receive the invite and then sending the rsvp card back to be nice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

I think we got most of ours very quickly. And the ones who didn't were close relations we knew would come or who confirmed in person.

Hi all, hen party at the weekend was great. It was just a really great weekend. I was a bit bummed when it was over. Never expected that. Wedding is 7 weeks from Friday. I can't believe it. Not even sure what I should be doing at this stage!

RSVPs are coming in slowly but surely!

Between range rovers and prosecco vans... I am glad we got married already this year. The tiger seems to be waking from its sleep. Id say costs will climb now too.

Its all coming back Fits even the tut tut's :)..

It is mad and when the day comes itself none of it really matters that much

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭kildareash

Where did you go for your hen cbfi?

I was so depressed for about a week after mine, it was such an amazing weekend. It's just the people you want to be there and everyone is up for the crack. I'd love to do it again!

But in another few days, serious wedding mode will kick in!

We're just three weeks away from the Big Day now and it's all go! I feel like my to-do list is just getting longer and longer! There is nothing major to be done...most of it is admin/follow up. I'm just writing every last detail down so the chances of me forgetting anything is small.

Left my engagement ring in this week to be resized and cleaned. It has to be taken down 2 sizes!!! But I feel so naked without it. I keep having mini panic attacks every time I look at my hand and it's not there.

2 sizes? Crikey! What have you been doing?

We went to Cork. 1 night in spa with my bridesmaids and 1 with everyone. Usual dinner and night out. I just loved having all my closest friends in one place. Bummed it's over!

    7 weeks from tomorrow!

I've lost 2 stone through slimming world and bootcamp. Mainly from bootcamp and his diet...which was no carbs and no nice food and no alcohol . Would have liked another half stone but I've been finding it hard to get back on track after the hen.
I'll be avoiding carbs especially rice and pasta like the plague, I've realised I just can't digest them. Feel so much better without it.
Even my kids who are super eaters and love their fruit are benefiting as my little girl will take a bit of lettuce on her sandwich now and she will eat onion and peppers because they see me eating them so much.

But the strange thing is that even though I've lost so much weight my dress only needs a tiny but of alteration. It was a little but tight when I bought but still comfortable, but the waist doesn't need to be taken in just the top part of the dress. But it does look a lot better when I compare pics.

    Oh that's great faith!

Did anyone give a list of shots they wanted to their photographer? I've been looking at some online and it looks like an awful of shots.

Just three weeks to go now...getting so excited now! Had final meeting with hotel yesterday... We were only on their basic package but got a few upgrades because of the numbers!

Got a trial spray tan yesterday too and it's perfect, everything is falling into place!

Yes we et with our photographer a few weeks in advance and went through a good few things. He had a whole form he w filled in.

He clarified the style of photos we wanted. I said I preferred shots where the couple might not be the focus of the photo, didn't want hair and makeup photos. Told him which posed family shots we wanted and a few other things.

Ah, they're only asking to be polite I suppose. But I've been sorted for weeks. It's a small wedding, so I found there was very little to actually organise.

Haha I'm getting it non stop too even though it's 6 1/2 weeks away. I just say I hope so! It's amazing the amount of people that take an interest!

I've lost just over two stone as well Kildareash and ideally I would lose another stone before the wedding but we'll have to see how I get on!

Well done CBfi...you can easily loose that other stone (or the best part of it), in six weeks.
I'm a little bit disappointed with myself that I didn't get another half off, but I've been finding it really hard to get the time to exercise lately. Only getting to maybe 2 classes per week, whereas before I was going 4-5times a week.

I have literally made a note of every little thing I have to do in the next few weeks. So it could be as simple as give directions to hair and make up people. It's good to see things being ticked off though!

Great news on the spray tan trial. Makes such a huge difference to the photos.

Definitely give a list to your photographer!! Mine made out like it wasn't necessary as they would take ''all the usual family shots''

    But they didn't !!!! :mad::mad:

I know ours is a more informal arrangement, because he's a relative.
So I just sent him off an email yesterday with any 'extra' pics we wanted other than the 'standard' shots. But I think I'll have a list of shots I want printed off for him for the morning of the wedding. It won't do any harm.
    Thanks for the advice.

Right so I have narrowed the 500 photos the photographer sent me down to 230. It's only taken me several attempts across a few months to do that.
Now just have to get that down to 85 for the album :-) At this stage getting it and the thank you cards out before Xmas will be an achievement. It's very enjoyable going through the photos though I have to say. Definitely one of life's nicer jobs!
My package also included 60 six by four prints. I got an idea to get all the ones taken of guests (laughing during teh speeches etc) printed so I can include them in the thank you cards (if I have a photo of the person I'm thanking, I'll enclose it) I mean it won't cost me anythign to do this as I have paid for it as part of the photo package anyway so why not!

Hands up who enjoyed doing their seating plan and wants to do mine???

On the 3rd draft and still can't make it work. I didn't think it would be this difficult.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 30,657 Mod ✭✭✭✭Faith

Sorry, absolutely not, the seating plan was the hardest bit by far!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭kildareash

I'm going to ring the hotel today to see if they can change one table to a bigger table. If they can do that I'll be able to get all my tables in, I don't know what plan b will be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,150 ✭✭✭✭Malari

I'm doing the FFA table plan. Free For All ;-)

I think with 23 guests and two tables it'll be fine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Milly33

Remember to double check all the names and places on the table plans ladies.. I left this with himself to do and while we both went through it we left one name out on it as there were two people with the same names..really annoyed me.

A free for all with 23 people will be great perfect way for doing it...

So appealing right now! I think our plan of not inviting plus 1s has backfired on me and I've too many tables of 11 and no one I can move around.

After 2 drafts I realised I had left one of OH's aunt off. For some reason I have a mental block against the lady...I'd forgotten to include her on the invitation list too. Wouldn't mind but she's a nice lady!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,677 ✭✭✭PhoenixParker

I ended up with one table of 14 (including kids)I didn't want to split up so I had the hotel set up one long table down the back. Worked fine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 439 ✭✭CBFi

TBH I hurt my back two months ago and haven't been doing any exercise. So I'm definitely not as toned as I'd like but the weight will come off reducing food alone. The carbs are the worst thing for me. I love bread! Fingers crossed the final stone will come off. I'll feel happier then in my dress.

I work in PR, wouldn't dream of not having a shot list for an event so definitely do it!! It's worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Milly33

Are you still at it kildareash? or did you get it sorted. Might be an idea to get someone else to do it either himself or someone in the family. Takes a lot of pressure off you, someone will not be happy with wherever they are seated but that is the case with nearly everything... Still cant believe some of my family members are moaning about not been invited to the entire day, and one friend of a friend is actually fighting with someone else because they didn't get invited.. Two months on sad

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,531 ✭✭✭kildareash

I left it for a couple of days, but it won't take long now to sort it.

That's really sad milly, you think people wld be glad not to have to shell out for pressie, drinks and whatever else is involved.
We had one relative turn down our invite because they cldnt afford to come, we totally understood and feel really bad for them.

I know one of my sisters is not going to be happy with the table plan and I might have to seat her in the second row of tables which will no doubt annoy her also. She didn't like my invites and wldnt even hide the fact! luckily I wasn't asking for her approval!
