Not sure if anyone's mentioned it yet, but the mighty Inception is on RTE1 tomorrow night. Incredible movie, perfect filmmaking, Christopher Nolan making up in advance for his horrible 3rd Batman movie (If i dare call it a Batman movie, the end credits lasted longer than all of Batman's scenes put together). Anyone who hasn't seen it, you must.

Ah, but the end, the bloody end. Ruined it for me. I don't want to have to fill in blanks.

The ending is to signify that although we think it's all fake or a dream, it is actually real, watch the wobble in the last second.

    Is that an actual wobble?

    For sure. In the movie,
they point out that the top would remain in spinning motion within a dream, but the wobble at the end suggests that a few seconds later, it will stop spinning, which means he's back in the real world.

Hallowe'en III The season Of the Witch is on SYFY now.

Originally a screenplay by Nigel Kneale who subsequently disavowed all knowledge,it is still quite a disturbing film in parts ( a scene in a motel and a woman unwisely fiddling witha a halloween mask comes to mind).

And with added Dan O'Herlihy as the crazed toy genius Conal Cochrane.

12:25am Sunday night, BBC1: Hooper (1978). A film that's basically an excuse for top stuntman-turned-director Hal Needham to put Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and a bunch of insane stunt sequences on the screen. Hooper (Reynolds) is a veteran stunt man who has to work on a movie with a young reckless stuntman (Jan-Michael Vincent) and a megalomaniac director. So, it's a film by a stuntman about stuntmen, as well as an interesting look at the 1970s Hollywood stunt business.

If you're after a post-pub movie tonight, you could do a lot worse than L.A. Story on RTE1 (12:05). Steve Martin wrote and starred in this weird comic love letter to Los Angeles. If you don't like quirky surrealism, it's not for you.

It's also the film that made people take Sarah Jessica Parker seriously as a grown-up actress, even though she plays a total ditz named SanDeE* and see if you can spot Patrick Stewart and Woody Harrelson in small parts, as well as Rick Moranis getting mildly Shakespearian:

    * no, there's no footnote - the star is part of her name, she says.
