Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Biblical rain and thunder in Navan during the past hour. I was in Gaylord's Indian restaurant and one of the thunder claps was that loud I thought something had crashed onto the roof. My wife says that she saw the glasses quiver at the bar area during each of the claps....

this unsettled weather is introducing much higher temperatures over the next 4 to 5 days, could be something to do with it.

    From ME:

Tonight: Further outbreaks of rain, heaviest across the eastern half of the country, with the risk of thunder.

Was out a short time ago admiring the sunset as the cloud opened up and in flat calm conditions managed to spot a distant funnel ( camera phone only so a bit gritty ) No sferics showing up anywhere yet ( except for earlier today ), I saw over on Convective Weather that if there is it would be most likely be in the North of the country.

Yeah Id say there be some fairly hefty flash flooding in places that have the train of heavy cells going through... a few strikes also already.

Clap of thunder here in north east Kilkenny, about 6/7 miles north east of the city.
Knew it was thundery before the thunder as the satellite signal went.
    Rain rate was over 79mm/hr.

Rain tonight heaviest in Leinster and Ulster with a risk of thunder. The rain will clear eastwards by morning with scattered showers following from the west. Mostly fresh southerly winds, but strong and gusty along the west coast. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees.

Looks like a nice cell building at Edenderry.

Dublin airport temperature up to 20c at 10pm too. Something to note. (It was 17c at 8pm)

  • Registered Users Posts: 69 ✭✭Mez1982

Edenderry getting some fairly frequent lightning and thunder with a very heavy shower of rain in the last 20 minutes. It seems to have tapered off a bit now so I think it's moving away.

Sure I saw a large flash in the very far distance from clonee. Looking at lightning radar there looks to be some out the n4 west direction.

Thought I saw flashes to the west of Dublin. It is seriously warm outside, the breeze reminds me of the Canary Islands on a warm night!

ME radar suggest that the cloud is drifting eastwards. Wind has picked up somewhat too here in north county Dublin. I'd say on balance that we wont have storm unfortunately.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,415 ✭✭✭Trebor176

Very warm and very quiet in west Dublin at the moment, bar some wind a while ago. It doesn't look like there will be much else weather-wise. I'm sure the rain, if any, for this neck of the woods would have hit by now.

Ye lucky git, that's the heavy thundery rain that was here a while ago and brought 2 measly flashes and rumbles !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,697 ✭✭✭ciaran76

Dublin 15 Clonee had 2 to 3 flashes in last 5 mins.
