Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have adaway but not 100% sure on how to run it,must look at youtube (my browser doesn't crash again)

PopcornTime was the latest app I installed and the ads appeared,I uninstalled it so I'll check later if that was the cause.

I had Popcorn on my laptop before. Read a lot of bad reports about it, spyware and stuff. Got rid of it sharpish. Don't miss it.

I'm sure this has been asked a load of times before, so I apologise in advance! Can someone recommend a decent android box? I already have all the sky channels, movies, sports etc through an internet sky box. Works perfect, picture perfect etc. So i want something with the same quality. I don't know much about them...do they come with everything loaded on them? Want it more so for watching box sets, movies etc than sports and RTE etc. Will connect it up to another tv in summertime in sunroom so will want sports etc then. Are they hd quality? Any help appreciated.

Mx RTE player on Xbmc gives RTE1 HD RTE 2 hd RTE news and RTE junior

Edit....seems to dead add on after a quick.Google

    Whats an internet Sky box?

Ref Android boxes. I have a couple of Minix X8-h boxes and for streaming movies and tv series etc they are amazing. A lot depends on whether you are streaming already downloaded content from a NAS or direct from the internet (in which case you'll need an excellent broadband connection) but I use both and am very happy with them.

Try the Gigablue, much much cheaper than a Vu. There are also other linux boxes out there. And a lot of it has to do with the image you use, eg Blackhole or Vix for example. Look at all the linux boxes Vix supports: http://www.openvix.co.uk/

    Thanks IBA,

I've been toying with this idea for a long time but even the Gigablue, when configures with the extra tuners, a HDD, Wifi capability etc comes in at £375 or €480 which ain't cheap, see http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/GiGaBlue-HD-QUAD-PLUS-Linux-Enigma-2-HD-PVR-Digital-Satellite-Receiver-2-DVB-S-S2-2-C-T-T2-cable-satellite-terrestrial. I do know if I take the plunge I'll be joining the Vix community but I just can't make the €500 commitment when there is so much work involved and from the reports I've read I'm likely to be constantly fiddling with it to keep it running smooth.

Not very techie so thats what I call it anyway! Got it on donedeal a year and half ago..paid €250 for recordable box and all the channels for €100 per year sub. Used have all hd sports etc, but can;t get them anymore.
Ok what do you mean about streaming from a NAS. I have 3-4meg internet speed.

Can anyone tell me if there is any real difference between a Mag 250 and a 254? Im debating getting one of these boxes and trying to decide whether the 254 is worth the extra few quid

I don't think you'll be able to stream content from the Web with just a 3-4mb link, there will be a lot of buffering.

NAS = Network Attached Storage. Fancy name for a hard drive where you store all your downloaded content so you can just stream it from the NAS locally without having to worry about Internet speeds.

I'm currently using THIS on many devices. It's neat & tidy, works great, backlit and much more. It's very pricey in some places,I picked up mine on adverts secondhand for about €40'ish.

Seems like quite a lot of you know a lot about these :)

I tried installing on my laptop to see what the interface and quality was like before looking into buying a box and I installed xbmc and then the navi-x add on. The movies selection was brilliant and really good quality very happy with that. the thing I couldnt get working though was the live stream tv. I tried different links but everytime it would just displaying the loading but never load anything, no error or anything.

have I set up something wrong or could it just be that the particular link i tried just wasn't working at that moment? if that's the case could anyone recommend addons that do have reliable live streams?

I dont need one but will still get one I'd say. 2Gb MXIII is still en route so might build that and sell it for a few quid profit, buy the 808 and MXQ then!

I let the MXQ go because I wasn't sure when codesnake would release OpenELEC for it....then of course I got a PM with a version of OpenELEC that works

My mate hasn't bought it yet so might try and get him to take another box

Also forgot I have MX2 on way in from UK, should be here today:D:D and will build with OpenELEC this week....

    Link: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_80704.html
Coupon: MXQBLG, which will bring the price to €37.18.

Mx2 with Official OE should be a great set up you'd imagine.

Tempted to buy 3 MXQ and sell them with OE, is it stable? Hard to know how to put a resale price on them, €50?

It removes Android and allows faster boot time, more efficient use of your system for streaming HQ files. Very quick through menu and add ons I find.
Very little lag and you can use torrent add ons like P*****r.

Some OE come with Helix or others with Gotham so make sure you know which one you want or works on your box.

Codesnake and Just me have Open Elec builds, both are easy find on Freaktab.

The MXQ version I havent tried yet and not a codesnake version. Just something to note....

I asked my mate and he hasnt even installed the MXQ box:eek: Might build the 808B and swap it with the MXQ and then try OpenELEC version on the MXQ

I went to some crowd there before Xmas for the laugh doing a demo it was a €125 for a CS918 with just the tvaddons.ag installer, told me it was on special down from €150

Its no surprise, I thought for ages my setup was second rate compared to the seller on Adverts/Ebay/Done Deal etc who where charging up on 100 euro for there set up....or you can download there set up for a nice fee of 40 UKP....

But have looked at majority and you will find most of them have just run TV add on's wizard and that is it.....absolute joke....but then again people are paying them for it so who is the idiot here?? :P

I have seen boxes with just Mashup added to XBMC, nothing else. That was it....

Its very attractive telling people you can get this box for €150 and you will have every movie, tv show and sports channel available for nothing. Most people aren't going to question the hardware or value.

Its exactly why there is a market for expensive sandwiches in convenience stores. People could easily knock a ham, cheese, tomato and onion sandwich together for probably less than €1 at home but they are happy to pay €3.50 for the convenience of getting someone else to do it for them.

Where there is demand it will be met with supply.

    It's capitalism at it's best :p

Ok so MX2 arrived and happy days it is system board G18REF so need to check what my "preinstalled and set up" XBMC will be like and then scrub it for OpenELEC

Is anyone running OpenELEC 5.0 RC3 with Kodi 14.0 Helix RC3???

It is still in test but is it stable or should I go with 4.2.1?

    Hey BN,

Happy New Year and all that.

I'm planning to wipe my 2 x Minix X8-h's and my Minix X7 over the weekend, install the latest firmware, add KODI, add TVaddons config wiz and Vdubt25 add on, hook up to my NAS and I should be sweet. (I'll also add Chrome, the box of shows which can't be mentioned and one or two other apps/widgets e.g.

Any suggestions as to anything else I should be doing / adding on?

I read a lot about Openelec, is that a road I should be looking to go down?

    Hey,

Make sure to get 002A on the x8-h which will allow you to update OTA from now on. I am not sure on the X7 which versions are running on it

For the X8-H get XBMC for Minix 13.3.3 Beta 8. Available off Minix. I installed this and was impressed with the performance. I think it is also running on the X7.

I have not stopped using the Wizard and build myself...just didnt like having so many addons which I dont use on box.....

OpenELEC on the Minix at this moment is very much in the test phase, wouldnt touch it....if you get to 002A on the X8 with new XBMC for Minix I am very impressed with performance

Anything else you will need to PM me:eek: :P

Is that the g box midnight mx 2? Have one of these myself that got relegated to the bedroom when I got the Minix. Hate the box as it gave me nothing but trouble and played feck all in xbmc although many would disagree with me here. Would openelec be a good upgrade for the stock firmware and could you link the version you use
