Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Bailey rarely does it since the stinkbomb arrived lol!! On her very first walks as a puppy she rolled on a shore outside the park - like even at that young age she was a stink connoisseur! :p

For some reason it was the fact that the harness/lead/collar also got covered in mouldy bird feathers/ decaying fecal matter/my other dog's wee that used to bother me more. I miss the little terror now, but I don't miss having to bath them every time I come home from a walk!

My old dog was like that - would find something revolting to roll in no matter where we went - I spent a fortune on KETCHUP (skin allergies, couldnt wash him with so many things) - eventually got a friend to buy a case of ketchup in the cash and carry  Funnily, the old dogs nephew (!) never rolls in anything! He does find something revolting to EAT though whenever we leave the house (i.e. twice/day - without fail!!)

Noooooooooo!! I don't like ketchup....and have gagged before when it splashed onto my dinner lol! I'd rather the poo! :D

Anyone elses dogs allergic to the rain??? Opened the door to let them out to do their business when I got in home, I ran back out to the car to get something and there were the two of them sat in the door way looking out as if to say 'that one is mad of she thinks we're going out in that!' needless to say a walk was off the cards so we did some extra training to tire them out.

Home from work yesterday evening & still a bad smell in the house. Convinced it was still the dog despite me washing him, but no he smelt good...well as good as a dog can smell.
Walk time & went to the cupboard to get lead & nearly gagged with the smell as I opened it. He had been wearing his hi viz vest/bib when he rolled in whatever he rolled in. I just put it straight in the outside bin.

The trials & tribulations of dog ownership!!

We went to a charity dog show today. We didn't place in any of the classes but won 1st prize in the raffle. A Brandy dog food hamper, now I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Mine are only allergic to the back garden rain, smaller one doesn't like walking far in rain, but will walk unless its really heavy, bigger dog doesn't give a ****...
Few drops out the back and they act like it'll melt them.

Drama this morning! Bailey was asleep on the HiK9 next to my bed..he stretched out and his leg went between the two beds. I thought it looked a bit dangerous because it could get trapped so went to free it for him. Of course he immediately tried to pull his foot away assuming I was going to cut his nails or worse his fur , then realised it was stuck and screamed the place down! My mum heard him downstairs and thought his leg was broken (we always assume broken legs in our house lol)! Always he was completely fine but I was expecting sirens outside with police thinking somebody had been murdered!:p

I know cheeky pup! He's had so many blood tests etc and often has sore toes so he assumes if I touch his paw I'm must be going to kill him - he won't even shake hands with me unless I show him a treat first! He'll shake with my mum no problems lol!:p
I was actually quite calm - I think because I saw it all happen! I'll block the gap later anyways - could have been a lot worse because he just panicked!

You'd think that as I do this so often, I'd be really well prepared and efficient at packing the van up to go away, not so. Planned leaving time was 2pm, thinking I'd get away at 3, I am now hoping for 4pm and yes, I know if I got off the internet I would get going quicker :p Heading off to the IFSS European championships in England this time, only running Ghost in bikejore, hopefully another Irish team will win gold, as they have done before, we will take part and have fun.

Peach was lying across my shoulders this evening, which isn't most unusual, she likes to be a scarf especially if I'm walking around somewhere and she needs a lift. However tonight, my mam sneezed and my dad coughed at the same time, poor Peach freaked out, lost her balance and sliced down the back of my head and neck while trying to hang on.
It hurts like hell, but I feel worse about the fact I screamed and accidentally hit her while trying to unhook her embedded claw from my neck :( she forgave me and sat back up on my lap for the evening...after washing my blood from her claws!! :o

Coco made me laugh the other morning. She started barking and pawing at the curtains in the bedroom. I thought maybe a ball had rolled under the wardrobe or something so I asked her to show me and she looked straight up to the top of the curtains. We had got new curtain poles a few weeks back and the balls on the end of the poles had caught her beady eye. She wanted it thrown!

Hahah, my GSD does something similar in our local park, there's a bridge with a fence going across one side that has these metal balls at the top... 80% of the time he will stop, sit and whine. :D

Anything spherical is fair game for Coco, if it's not one of her many toy balls or footballs, it's the tumble dryer balls or the apples on the trees which she'll pick on request:D, she even used to get fixated on the towbar cover if it was on the jeep, so we ended up leaving it off.

Pup had a sore paw for a while and I used a 'No Chew' cohesive bandage. Turned out she couldn't read and rather liked the flavour. I'm not sure what that says about her constant enthusiasm for my home-cooked meals. The paw recovered and I put the bandages and e-collar away.

This evening when I thought she was chomping on a piece of antler, she had actually taken a roll of bandage (No Chew, remember) from the box it was stored in and was chomping away.

I was out for a walk yesterday evening with Lucy..we were strolling along and the street lamp in front of us turned off - it took me a second to cop that the power was gone on the road. Now I had her little flashy collar on her in case I let her off lead so turned that on and used the light on my phone to guide us down what's usually a short walk down this stretch - well the road seemed to be miles and miles longer!! Very very spooky. I had been listening to a thriller where a couple are being followed so it didn't help matters lol ! :P

my doggie used her new bed last night! had it for months and she just ignored it, preferring to stretch out on her blanket. So last night i brought it into the sitting room and put her blanket on top of it. She looked at it for a while....barked at it...got angry and attacked it...then in the process of attacking it kind of went....oh..hold on...this isnt half bad....then fell asleep :P

Our cats (four now, was five) have never needed to go the vets for any health issue for as long as we have had them and they range from the ages of 4 years old to 9 years old, but ever since Sox died in March (and we had the house re-done) a month after having his eye removed, all the cats with the exception of one have needed the vet this year.

One broke her toe, another ended up with an infection in his eyes and glands, now our other kitty has gotten a bad (what appears to be) hotspot... just one cat left who hasn't needed the vet, she still has another month left if she wants to make it a full house...

Old neighbours are back. When they were here before they had two unsocialised docked Rotties and an aggressive Jack Russell. I just walked past on my own and their gate is open. There was a massive mastiff type dog with cropped ears sat at the back of the drive watching me walk past. just sat there stock still. I clicked my tongue at it and got no reaction. I was trying to figure out if it was friendly or not. it was still in the same spot on the way back, following me with its eyes it was some what unnerving. Now I'm wondering if it is actually a real dog. Has anyone heard of a dog statue that follows you with its eyes that's used as a burglar deterrent? It was freaky the way it just sat there looking at me.

My dog has lost her most recent toy and I'm holding off on giving her the new one until Christmas.

So today I heard her scampering around like she does when she invites me to play the 'catch me, catch me!' game. The game is I chase her, I catch her, she gets lots of cuddles, and then I throw the thing again.

She had picked up a leaf. "In my day, we were so poor we walked six miles uphill each way on our daily walks, our lead was a bit of string, and we had to play with leaves."

She later stole a sock out of the clean laundry and that was much more useful for the purpose.

I'm unnerved just reading about it. Personally, I'd be very nervous walking by that gate and would be looking for alternative routes as it doesn't sound like they've a great track record in training dogs!

I'd hope it's not a real dog from your description of the neighbours but unfortunately I don't know of anything like that...

The tongue clicking actually made me answer - I used to do a lot with horses so I naturally use a lot of horsey noises/sounds with my dogs. If you'd tongue clicked one of mine they'd be trotting up the street after you in an instant. ;)

There's a German Shepherd next door to us. I know he's real and not a statue because the minute our dogs are in the garden he charges the fence and has kept me awake for the last 6 months. But, if myself or my OH are going in or out to the car especially at night he sits so still in the middle of the garden and you can just feel his eyes watching you but he doesn't move a muscle!! It's incredibly unnerving, I think I would prefer him to bark etc at least I know where I stand then.

Shattered after our club Santa run today, scootered 5km then cycled 5km, then cycled it again to chaperone the juniors round, then delivered Santa by husky, then stood around chatting to people. Very proud of my dogs though, 3 of them ran canicross today with other people, winning 2 classes and coming 2nd in one, not bad at all for dogs that were unwanted by previous owners. Except Vince of course, he was born here, and has always been wanted, but he is such a superstar, he is running with an 11 year old boy in the junior competition, and they have won both races so far this year, they are so cute together.

What were we doing? Ripping velcro. I squish the two pieces together, he pulls them apart... and repeat. Never seen his tail wag for so long before. :o
