Hope you can get a decent break soon, Acoshla! You definitely deserve a holiday!

I was very upset yesterday because one of my friends belittled my essay result and implied that I only got it because the lecturer felt sorry for me*. He also accused me of flinging it in his face, even though he called me and asked me outright what I got (not even "were you happy with your result?" or something kind of neutral.)

*This was apparently because the lecturer knows by now that I didn't get schols and wanted to give me a First so that I wouldn't feel so bad when I find out in April, so there was also the "you don't have a chance at schols!" dig thrown in for good measure.

Probably sounds like a silly thing to be upset about but I was EXHAUSTED yesterday and really didn't need to hear that kind of thing. It was so nasty and completely needless.

I never ask what result a person got. It's rude and puts pressure on them in my opinion. I ask whether they are happy or not and they'll divulge the info if they want.

I'm cooking rack of lamb today too, going to put some garlic on it when it is cooking.

I'm gonna do some mash and garlic spuds with it and some veg too.

I've cooked and eaten most of mine, I used some of my garlic and herb butter with it. Had roast veg in the bottom of the tray. I only cook for me so all that food is just for me:o

Almostnever that sucks, ignore them, just trying to annoy you.

Mars Bar that's a nice way of asking, I might borrow that, I would just absent mindedly ask what someone got in an exam etc, but that's a much better way of asking in case they don't want to tell.

I never cease to amaze myself and my mother with how I dust myself off after disasters and mistakes in life and turn them around, just did it on a minor scale today and my mother's laughing at it, it should make me feel some bit better about myself and work but even that's not working today! Beer and nachos are the only answer I think.

It's so rude to ask somebody that. I still haven't told anyone what I got in my leaving cert, nevermind anything else, I just think it doesn't matter. I think if someone wants to tell someone that they passed then fair enough but nobody needs to know exactly what score was achieved in great detail.

I'm always saying that to my boyfriend. People won't remember that you got As, Bs or Cs, they'll remember that you passed everything and now have a great job because of your hard work.

Ditto. It's a dangerous question to ask, you have no idea what those results mean to the person you're asking, or what's depending on them.

He's so needlessly horrible to me sometimes, I was saying something a few weeks ago about researching law firms in the UK and he gave me a disgusted look. Later that day he started ranting about how people who want to become solicitors are inherently inferior to people like him who know they want to be barristers, because he'll be a professional and everyone else will be "doing a trade." He's very lucky I didn't snap his head off yesterday to be honest, my patience with him is going to run out soon!

On the plus side, next week is going to be awesome and I'll be spending time with the people who make me happy. :D

Avoid him, the less time you spend with someone like that the better.

Don't think it's jealously, just a need to feel superior to other people and the best way most people like that can only feel superior when they try to make others feel inferior.

God that's awful about that player.

Boyfriend just put nachos in the oven, had rugby on tv, opened a beer...and his beeper went off! Ha, God love him, hope he's back soon, there was much swearing as he went out the door :p

You're right Das Kitty, it's really not looking good at all. She's still talking to Kevin Keegan at the moment. They should really let him go, he's clearly very upset.

Not too happy with how my meat turned out, would have liked it cooked a bit more than it is, why is it, I can never get everything to turn out just right, even just once?!

    .

I actually ate this and I will say you cooked it perfectly. You have a psychological issue where it must be cindered and saturated in salt/pepper to consider it cooked properly :pac:. You need to try it rare and only with no salt/pepper added after it is cooked imo. Same applies to the steak last night actually. Twas only fab.

Rare = awesome, medium = good, well done = fail.

The meat was perfectly cooked medium and the garlic potatoes were delicious btw. Tbh I would happily have paid good money to eat it in a restaurant.

In regards to Acoshla and Racoon Queen's jobs discussion, add me to the 'I wish I didn't work with the public' brigade. :p

I've never been a career driven type. I just want a job where I have my tasks to perform, get left alone to do them, don't deal with too many people and go home. Preferably a nine to five job that pays enough to cover the bills and leaves a few bob to live off.
My dream is to one day have my own cubicle. :o

It's like those cheesy Vietnam war movies- if you've never worked with the public/in retail, you just don't know man! :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Acoshla

Posy that's exactly the kind of job I'd like, the next best thing is working for myself.

Boyfriend got home, put nachos on again, got beer...then beeper went off again. It's funny and annoying all at the same time.

That's always been my ideal situation too. But then I went and developed an interest in psychology. But I'm kind of leaning towards research, which can involve being left to my own devices a lot of the time :)

Feckin' beeper- it must get called some choice words! ;)
Both you and Racoon Queen are amazing to have had the nerve to strike out on your own though, fair play! :)

Would it cheer up any of the dealing with the public workers if i told you how a middle aged man called me a c*nt today for basically no reason? Charming fellow.
Boyfriend is in the pub and trying to persuade me to go down. Not a chance, beer and dvds in my pyjamas tonight, have another full 8 hours of being insulted by the general public tomorrow.
