Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TUF 19 - Penn, Edgar + Pendred & Fields! **Spoilers**

Didn't spot a TUF 19 thread, apologies if I missed it. I know there is a discussion about Pendred trying out but given that he and Fields are now both a factor I thought it made sense to start this thread.

Just saw confirmation that both Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields have made the house and are on BJ Penn's team.

Fantastic news for Irish MMA, if they play their cards right they will both get a contract out of this, and at worst will surely get a fight at the Dublin card this year.

Fingers crossed we get an Irish winner though!

Good news. Pendred would definitely have enough to win it and I just get the impression hes in the final.

Cant say the same for Fields.

Who knows, Pendred would be the favourite of the 2 but he's also fighting a weight class higher than his own isn't he?

If you look at the history of TUF the winners nearly always fight a weight division above their normal weight division.

I think Chris is too at L Heavy.

I'm well aware of that. My point was that Fields is not doing that, so it's perhaps not fair to suggest that Pendred is more likely to do well than him.

Pendred is the better fighter, but Fields will have the advantage of being at his best weight.

Is he? I thought this season was MWs only.

    I stand corrected if so.

The 2 Irish guys are almost the most experienced in the house.
Wouldn't it be great to see someone like RTE or TV3 broadcast this season seeing as it has 2 well known fighters and with the ufc coming to Dublin too.
I'd say pigs will fly first though

Tbh outside of serious mma fans not many in this country will have a notion who they are.

Cathal will be grand at his size. He wasn't a small MW when he started out and is a massive welter

Pendred tweeted earlier he wanted the winner of Shields - Lombard in Dublin. Think he'd be more focused on his finale fight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 294 ✭✭Kieran81

you'd go a long way to find two better guys to fly the irish mma flag ,particularly chris, i'm struggling to think of an irish event i've been to where he's not there . and to think he was competing in the mma league only a few short years ago if that doesnt inspire any young guys setting out on their mma journey i dont know what will

If he honestly thinks after a season of TUF that he's in line for the winner of Shields vs Lombard, he should be more focused on getting off the drink.

    Stop talking sense.
Big achievement getting the two lads on there. There's some serious momentum behind their team now.

But the BT package offers everything a UFC would want....dana said so...its the perfect deal.

Makes sure all of us in the UK can get coverage of 70% of the ufcs content plus gareth A(hole) davis fat face on our tv, plus some rugby guy and a token woman who bless her heart is trying to remember the fighters names. I dont see how we could want more!

Sure if Dana White told you it was raining you'd have to go out and check to be sure he's telling the truth

You're watching The Ultimate Fighter: Nations, are you not? If so, that's not TUF 19, which is the subject of this thread.

    I'm fairly sure it'll be on BT/Setanta.

TUF Nations has also been mentioned in this thread. Fairly obvious which series I referred to.

    From McGregors interview on SevereMMA
“It’s gonna be June or July, there’s no sense in rushing back, I’ve got to do this safely,” said McGregor taking a clever approach to his recovery. “There’s a card in Las Vegas around then that might have an Irish interest and I don’t think they’ll mind me fighting then even though the Dublin card is looking like it will be in September.”

    The TUF 19 finale ??

Possibly, but that doesn't really say much as he could be saying either of the lads "might" be getting a fight on the finale card as most TUFers do!

That being said, I fancy Pendred to be in the final!

Spoiler Tags are for spoilers in the week after it has aired guys.

Don't be a D1ck and post results until after it has aired.

Airing March/April finale June/July. I was told but I've an awful memory.

Seems like finale fight and a potential Dublin September card was definitely an option; if any of the 16 guys from the season fancied doing something like that for whatever reason.

Unless I'm mistaken the finale always airs immediately after the end of the series so if the series is on March/April, then the finale will be on days after the final episode and not in June/July.

What may make sense is that the coaches fight (Penn v Edgar) could be scheduled for a June/July PPV so that might fit in with what you were told.
