Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We've probably all seen this so many times, but everything cipollini is a thing of beauty, he's also got big strong italian arms.

Love that Urgestalt thingy. Name doesn't exactly trip off the tongue but I like the Handarbeit fur Beinarbeit tagline :)

Here's my new (to me) posh training bike. Thinking it might stand me in good stead for a multi-Alp assault like the Marmotte next summer.

Ernesto was good for a few pics at his stand when asked...

The stand made Cipollini, De rosa, Pinarello and most of the rest look fairly average...

Not a painting but certainly a work of art :-)

Edit - can't believe it actually is a painting!

When I ordered my bike I didn't spec the custom Selle San Marco saddle to go with it and despite the cheap saddle they sent being fine I just had a niggling want for the proper one. Thanks to CRC I picked one up for a decent price and it arrived on Friday. Looks much better than the one that came with it IMHO. Vanity ftw.
So here's the first customisation (kind of)

This beauty arrived yesterday. Please ignore the dork disc, as I'm removing it as soon as i can :)
Canyon were a joy to deal with and the delivery via UPS was quick and painless.
Maiden voyage this morning proved that it is a light, stiff and very comfortable steed :) Let's see how I feel after a longer ride, eh??

Lovely... how does it ride? I'm undecided on whether to get the SLX or just go with the SL.

Hi Diggabot. I haven't tried the SL so can't compare, really. Re the ride quality of the SLX, I couldn't be happier. It's solid as a rock under load and rolls nicely, but the comfort is where it excels. I'm coming from a base carbon model Trek Madone and the difference between that bike and this is night and day. There's some fancy fandangled properties of the in-house seat-post that make this bike such a joy to ride and, paired with the surprisingly (to me, anyway!) comfortable fizik Antares saddle, I foresee more hours per week being spent out on the road.

I was between the SLX and the SL; with the sale, and getting the full Record groupset (which is fantastic), I found it better to push that little bit further rather than be asking "what if" a few months down the line. I'm a happy camper :)

If you have any more particular questions, fire away!

    Wife's new winter trainer.

New frame, old dura-ace bits transferred over. A new saddle and bars are in order when funds allow and the wheels are mis-matched, but the frame is a lovely shiny metal-y thing.

I love the Genesis bikes, they are all beautiful, currently looking at one myself. What are peoples opinons on the 931 range. I don't like the paint job compared to every other Genesis (in fact its pretty ugly compared to every other Genesis) but I have one at a good price:

i've always liked the silver paint jobs, not a big fan of the black fork but it's not enough to put me off...

Still very pretty IMO, I like the bare stainless steel look. I prefer the paint job on my Equilibrium, but would still swap it for bare 931 if I could just to have the longevity.

I love the Genesis team bike. Gorgeous machine. But Genesis themselves have finally had to roll with the times and go carbon fibre. Very nice machines now and fair play to them for persevering with steel for so long, but .... the times they are a-becoming quite different.

My understanding is that they have the CF (Zero) and the Steel (953) at races from now on so they have a selection depending on conditions.

I do love the race paint job as well. As above, also not a fan of the black fork but I can't justify the price jump for the 953 but I wish I could.

I found the silver paint on my Cdf is soft as puppy sh!t, its marks so easily compared to my other bikes.

Do you find the ride dampened as a result, does it affect frame stiffness or is it just the coating thats soft?

That's who I was looking at, incredibly cheap for the Volare 20. Anyone know if they have any in their Kilmacud shop. Would love a test ride.

I phoned up a week or so ago and they said they had a 54cm in stock.

According to their stock list, only the 58cm left (which is my size), how long it will stay there though is another question.

Yeah, there was a bunch of lads in the club bought up those genesis's's's'. Half price essentially.
I was very tempted myself by the team issue with dura ace wheels and 11 speed mechanical dura ace. - A bike for life.

They also had a very good price on the top of the range Team frame with ultegra- not sure if it's still there though (it wasn't on the website, they guy mentioned it when I phoned).

I think its the coasting tbh. I've had problems with cables & even a bar bag rubbing the paint away.

    Bought a 931 volare a month ago..,
    Bare stainless steel
Fitted it with 11 speed Athena and eurus..
I'm lucky enough to have a Colnago eps for my good day bike but the genesis is constantly being picked these day for the spins...
It's got so much character ...
Reminds me of my old steel bike as a teenager but with way more punch..
Granted when I do ride the eps it is a touch( and I mean a touch) livelier ... But the genesis is more fun..
Handles like its on rails and not hard to climb on..
And being a naked steel finish has no paint wear issues!
    Couldn't recommend it high enough...
P.s had an equilibrium briefly - also terrific
