Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thought it a bit strange to kill the younger kids and let the older son live, surely he would be more of a threat to Ragnor in a few years?

    Question
Did Ragnar's younger sons all die?

So, I see Season 3 has started. Kinda stopped near the end of the 1st season, as it started to wane, but wondering is it worth keeping with it, and did it pick up again in Season 2?

It could get very interesting as it develops, strange that he didn't mention one of the most important Viking colonies, the one he's working/living in!.

"According to actor Clive Standen (Rollo), future seasons may feature characters such as Alfred the Great, Leif Ericson, and Ivar the Boneless, as well as travels to Iceland, Russia, France, and across the Atlantic.[17]"

They'll have to do a bit of a time leap to include Alfred the Great (Ecberts's grandson). He appeared in last week's episode in nappies (or whatever babies wore back then).

i take it Ragnar is going to have wild sex with that nymphomaniac english princess

btw - is it necessary to use the language of the day its kinda irritating, wouldn't it be easier for the viewer to have them all just speaking english

They normally do but I guess it was difficult to portray the language barrier without using two separate languages!

I watched the arm chopping episode, is there any actual story in the series? It just seems to jump from one character to the next with no story.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,066 ✭✭✭✭neris

this series seems a bit more all over the place and alot of it seems to be shot in a darker light. last nights episode seem to muddle on from 1 sex scene to the next without any story at all

I thought season 2 was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed it.

This season so far has been very poor/boring though. It's been a glorified soap so far to an extent without a whole lot happening. I expect it to pick up though!

I want to try and google to fill in some of the gaps and the characters (plus mythology) but I know I'll end up spoiling the show considering season 3 is long over if I try to figure out who some of the people are.

So it gets the benefit of the doubt for now but my interest could start to wane soon.

Was Lagertha suggesting to Rollo that he is Bjorns father when they were talking together?

I presume to silence him so nobody could find out about everyone being wiped out in Wessex. Thus enabling him to pursue Paris without criticism. Or well that's what I took from it anyway.

Yeah I though that as well, doesn't make sense on the other hand though seeing as Floki knows it as well.

Speaking of Floki I can see why he killed Athelstan, shoving Christianity in their faces and throwing his bracelet in the water wasn't the smartest thing to do.

    Sorry to see Athelstan go......

The timelines are stretching without any character aging at all.

The very obviously 30-something Fimmell & Winnick (Ragnar/Lagartha) are now grandparents.

    C'mon Kattegat..... you aren't Darndale!

i just watched last weeks one on the player yesterday. the story line seems to be all over the place and things that are meant to happen months and years apart are happening in one or 2 episodes. as for the characters not changing the only thing ragner seems to have changed looks wise is his hair

Well, the vikings certainly got their comeuppance and about time too

*a pity the French didn't show the same courage centuries later when the nazi's arrived on their doorstep

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

This episode was certainly a big step up in terms of scale.
A lot of money must have been spent on it had some impressive use of CGI & props/models.

in history things went a little better for our heroes.....
They got paid literally tonnes to go away after a successful pillage.
The Franks could not assemble any effective defence against the invaders, and the Vikings withdrew only after being paid a ransom of 7,000 livres (French pounds) of silver and gold by Charles the Bald, amounting to approximately 2,570 kilograms.

we'll see what happens next week.... maybe they will have another crack at it.

brilliant episode with action from the start, up to motion picture standard

can't see how that will be possible as half of them were wiped out

Ragnar seems to be badly hurt, doubtful he will be fighting for a while.

The French princess is Roman Polanski's daughter I think.

must say i'm enjoying this current series, brilliant battle scenes...did they really have that giant rolling pin weapon in them days??

Ragnar turning Christian won't go down well with his cohorts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

Yeah, his buddies seemed pretty shocked at him joining 'team christ'.

The interpreter is the weirdest looking thing.
I was certain he was just a very ugly woman until this episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,248 ✭✭✭✭BoJack Horseman

And I wonder will the season finalé be Rollo's big moment, or will that be left till season 4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,066 ✭✭✭✭neris

I thought it was a woman aswell. weird mouth and gnashers on him. last night and last week were 2 of the better episodes this season although I don't like that french king or the princess, hope in true french royal style she looses her head. speaking of loosing heads that scene with your man getting his hand chopped before the viking lost his head was fairly gruesome
