Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Every single northbound trip?

Mine hasn't beeped 3 times now.(both sides of the road) Checked my transaction page on eFlow and it shows 3 passings where they didn't get the tag but got my reg.

It's been reported that there are a few bugs in the system.

And I use the word 'few' pretty loosely there.

I have just received not 1 but 2 more payment notices from EFlow this morning, even though I have paid for both trips. I dont use the M50 much so I dont have any tags. This is getting beyond a joke now. I have made about 7 or 8 trips on the road and been incorrectly billed for 3 of them now. I am just wondering should I bother my arse ringing this crowd or will the phone lines be jammed? I have all my receipts so I am fine. I might just call and go off on a rant.

Maybe they are trying to scare me into getting a tag by doing this... well it wont work.

I haven't paid for any yet and wont be until they ring me back like they said they would.

    +1

Let them waste their time and money sending out letters and threats. If they dare take you to court you will have the last laugh.

My mother got one today telling her that because she ignored the last one, she now owed €40. She didn't ignore the last one, I rang up on her behalf, explained that she had a tag with another company, and asked for it to be charged to her account. No problem, they said, but obviously there was a problem.

When I rang up again today to find out why she'd been fined, I was basically told "I'm very sorry, some staff here have absolutely no idea what they're doing, I'll fix that now."

And the guy, while very friendly and (hopefully) helpful, had absolutely no explanation as to why my tag beeps going southbound but not northbound in 3 separate positions on the windscreen...

I've a feeling the whole thing will fall apart soon enough... Barrier free free m50? :D

i recieved a letter yesturday to pay a €3 toll. the letter had 5 pages in it..
so i type the notice number into the website and the times/dates dont match up nor does any of the 'tick' boxes work.

the website the a heap of ****e.

so i rang this morning and the guy on the fone (who was trying his best to be fair) said that i shouldnt pay it until the head office clears the fine to be paid and that i should wait on a phone call

nuts to that im never paying another toll again. absolute shambles. it will fall apart within a year!

One of my colleagues used it about 2 weeks ago and when she went online to pay the toll, the amount owed was showing as over 3 million quid!!! :D

I actually don't know if she even managed to get through to them to query it yet...

its a joke system for me. didnt use the M50 at all. sold my old car on 27th/09/08, then sent the logbook away weeks ago. but got a letter YESTERDAY said I 'used' the M50 on the 29th/09,I got 14 days to pay the 3 euro otherwise a further 40 euro will be fined. good,I dont care. got another letter TODAY said another trip on the M50 on 30th/09. another 14 days to pay the 3 euro. although I sold my car so I wont care about those letters. but if u give people 14 days to pay the 3 euro. why ALL LETTERS arrived after 15 days? U offer a time machine to back to the past?? haha.
rang the EFLOW and was asked 'do u know the new owner's name?' OTF, is it my job to put the new owner's name into their system??

i doubt your are legally obliged to give them the details of any new owner of a vehicle,
Dont give them any info, tell that that you cant under the Data Protection Act,

Or .. Tell them the new owner is John Gormley

I just got another letter in the post for a trip I made on the third of October.
Its getting annoying going to the hassle of checking my bank account records to confirm what I already know.

Why don't they send a confirmation email to an address of your choice when you pay, instead I have to copy and paste the reference number on the confirmation page of the site into my gmail so I can dig it out later when they botch the friggin process.

Also, check out the wicked witch of the westlink!

Breezer, I've had exactly the same shíte happen to me. I called them up and in fairness the guy who helped me was very helpful. He said he will 'dispute' the fine and I wont receive any more notices. Although I have two more ones I need to sort - both paid for. Apparently I was cruising the M50 at 2:20 in the morning while I was asleep 250kms away. :)

I went into their site with the UTN number I received. And lo and behold there was another 2 "unpaid" toll passages (one of which I have not yet received a notice for). You have the option
of marking them as dispute... which I promptly did!

It seems the lack of a tag causes problems then its worth but I still refuse to get one as I dont use the M50 often enough.

After 3 weeks of chasing I've gotten a credit for 2€ from etip for a charge on my bill for a trip I never made. In fairness to etrip they were most responsive, replying to emails and even calling me ! I kinda feel sorry for them as they would have had to chase after those clowns operating the M50 to verify the mistake.
It's not that I need the 2€ ...... but you gotta fight the good fight and not let them away with one cent they bill in error.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators Posts: 40,288 Mod ✭✭✭✭Seth Brundle

TBH I wouldn't bother chasing it up if they sent me somehting. As the AA say, its their error, let them worry about it! However, I still haven't gotten any fines from them - I'm starting to feel victimised now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭towger

Sorry, to be clear .... I have an etrip tab. There was a trip on there that I did not make. In this case you have to chase it up as they've got your money from your etrip account. I think people who have tags other then eflow need to look at their statments very carefully in case ( as I was ) you are hit incorrectly. This never never was the case before the M50 barrier free fisasco.

Well I used the M50 for the first time since the booths came down on Friday; and how pleasant it was not to have to sit in a 45 minute tailback at 2:30 on a Friday just to pay a toll. I nearly forgot to pay it on Saturday though:rolleyes:

    Nice job:D:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭towger

True ..... the traffic flow is generally much much better ..... nobody would want the booths again ...... but what a mess they've made of the billing system.

    Hi All,

I drove through the M50 on Friday night and forgot to pay (I don't have an automatic tag or anything).

I only remembered I had to pay last night.

I know I will incur a fee as its late payment but do I just pay the €6 now and wait for the extra fee to come in the post or what should I do?

Sorry there a probably millions of posts like this on boards but I couldn't find any good info on the net or here!

    Thanks,
    Eddie

    Wait for the letter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,343 ✭✭✭Sean Quagmire

Yeah wait for the 5 page document that will say you owe 3 euro and watch out for the code number that wont match the date you actually went through the toll.

id imagine the amount of wasted paper they go through is massive

Haha thanks...so I shouldn't pay a thing..not even the €6 I owe (no incl. fine) until I get the letter?

She then said they had a problem with other operators tags.........Obviously she missed the bit where I told her it had worked before.

Went up and down to Dublin in the day on Tuesday, no beep either direction, so I guess I had better advise the postman to beef up in readiness.

And as sure as night follows day, 4 pages arrive in post today. Stinker email duly sent to eFlow......

I did the same as themacdaddy, how much is the fine? I forgot to pay it on time and am currently waiting for the letter. Will I have to pay a fine or will they just warn me to pay the pathetic 3 euro I forgot to pay?

I'm on my 3rd letter in 3 weeks, i have an Ez pass, it works, I've been through the toll bridge about 15 times since barrier free tolling was introduced, the last 2 times I rang, explained that I was a Ez Pass customer and shouldn't be getting these letters, threatening E40 fines unless paid in 14 days.
I also told her to put a note on the account to stop sending bills to the house.

What will happen if i ignore this letter? I couldn't be arsed ringing and being put on hold for 10 mins again.I presume if I go through the motions again I'll just get another one bill in a few weeks again.

Anyone else getting these letters in the post?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭Orla K

I don't know what you could do but you are not alone. My brother has gotten a load of letters from them. The story is his car broke down and they sent him letters saying he went through the toll bridge during this time. They are making a load of mistakes. They told him they are freezing the account and "reviewing" it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,626 ✭✭✭timmywex

Id say ignore it, just their mistake, you have an account registered and all that so youve done everything you can!

Keep ignoring the letters. If you check your eazypass account, you'll find you've already been charged I would imagine. Eazypass sent out emails telling people to ignore the letters anyway IIRC.

they'll send you a letter requesting three euro only. the guy on the phone told me they are not fining anyone and they are not bringing any cases to court because the legal fee's are too high - all to get three euro.

let them do all the chasing they want.

Recently went through the bridge, or over the bridge, or whatever way one should phrase it these days, twice in one day. Don't have a tag or anything and completely forgot to pay the fee. Rang up a couple of days later and explained what happened and was told that there would be no fine due to various problems and difficulties in relation to charges of late. Said that should just wait for the letter (3-5 working days) and just pay the regular fee. No letter received yet, two weeks down the road (excuse the pun)!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,484 ✭✭✭username123

Went through twice this morning, was dropping someone to airport for 7.45am.

Began the quest to pay at 8.20am or thereabouts. Tried 6 different garages/local shops. In 3 cases system to pay was down. In 2 they used to allow payment but have stopped because of customer complaints from people being billed after paying. Last place just didnt do it at all.

I spent over an hour trying to pay. In the end I just gave up and came home. I refuse to pay online because I dont want to give them my credit card number. I dont want to pay by phone for that reason and also that its going to eat a lot of credit being on hold etc...

So what do I do? I think I made a reasonable effort to pay.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Feck them. You made every effort to pay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,838 ✭✭✭✭cormie

I'd a dream last night that I was billed for driving a 93 reg car through the bridge, haha. That's great about the garages not taking payment anymore. Would they not just open up the bridge for free and do a nice deed? :D

Same story here whiterebel. I received yet another notice on thursday for going northbound because my DirectRoute tag only works going southbound.
On the same day my mother received another €40 notice for a passage through the toll that i've already been assured by eFlow has been dealt with twice. I'm considering not bothering ringing them again, it seems to make absolutely no difference.

At least they're now printing on both sides of the page :D

my brother is self employed, and basically never got around to registering his vans. he now owes about 400, most of these are 40euro fines, the cost for crossing the toll is very little. should he just pay this and be done with it or are there any sneaky ways around it? in fairness its his own fault, so i told him he should probably just take the hit and get it sorted out?? his van is registered to my mothers house, so he hadnt collected his post for quite a while to collect the notices. any thoughts??

True. But i was thinking if people keep wracking up these kind of charges they will have to start. I dont agree with it, infact i think its ridiculous that we have to pay a charge for for driving on a motor way which has been well paid for

Well also they would have to send a bill/invoice for payment via registered post before ever going down the legal route.... as they've no way of proving people have gotten the letters they've already sent out....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,838 ✭✭✭✭cormie

As far as I remember, they don't send court summonses by registered post, but this is no excuse for the consequences?..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Court summonses must be either served in person or by registered post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,838 ✭✭✭✭cormie

Not having used the M50 for years (but still got a letter:D) it doesn't affect me, but if the comment above is correct is there any reason why anyone should pay the toll?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

None at all. But if no one paid the system would collaspse within a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

It's only the people who registered keeping it alive now. If they all closed their accounts and waited for the letter the whole thing would implode under the mass of it's own paperwork.

The remains of it (a small quantum singularity) could be put on display in a visitor centre where the toll plaza used to be.

Think of the money the economy would make in tourism...

    :D

I wonder. Are we seeing here the birth of another of our government's advances into IT? If so, we can expect to see the whole system stored for the next twenty years in a warehouse somewhere while they try to decide what to do next. However, Bond-007, I would of course strongly advise against stresssing the system further by witholding payment.

The simple solution, which may appeal to ministers, is to introduce kiosks and coin bins in the interim?

Go the way they do it in San Francisco have kiosks, tag readers and coin bins but no barriers. The non payers are videoed and prosecuted.
