Still looking for my huskies, but not much luck. A few more questions for you. How Much should a healthy siberian huskie pup be, i know that over priced dogs are a sign of bad breeding, but how much is too much?? Also any information on where i can find pups, would be great.

    Cheers :D:D

p.s Thanks for the tips Guineapigrescue.

    Stunning aren't they?

I thought "wiener dogs" normally referred to Dachshunds? From what I remember, some American cartoonist didn't know how to spell the proper name, and couldn't be àrsed looking it up, so used "wiener" dog instead.

Anyway, found this site: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com - has a huge listing of dog types, with photos, sizes, characteristics etc of each breed. May be of use to some people.

Could someone tell me if it is possible to own a Siberian Husky while having two half lion-head rabbits?? Will its Instincts prevail?? Will it kill them?? If i got a young Siberian Husky and it grew up with them would they be ok?? And how much should a good quality pup cost?? Also any contacts for breeders would be great

    Cheers :D:D

we have always had alsations and cocker spaniels at home in my mam'd and about 10+ years ago we got a black and white rabbit. at first we kept her in her pen and the dogs down in theirs during the day and in the house at night but one day she let herself out of the pen and we were all frantic, running around trying to find her but it turned out that she was sitting in the sun with the dogs in their pen and none of them had touched her. after that she had the run of the garden and quite often paid the dogs a visit. she was quite a character and could well and truelly handle herself. so dogs and rabbits can get on, you're probably in a better situation because if you're getting a puppy then it'll be easier for them to learn that rabbits aren't food, they're play mates!!

there is a girl in the northern Ireland kennel club she shows huskies.
but she does breed timberland wolves if you ring the kennel club the will put her in contact with you

i also have to say your list is out of date.
if you want a certain breed of dog you are better of coming to one of the Irish kennel clubs all breed shows many of the breeder will be at it and you get to see what there dogs are like. The Irish kennel club show grounds are just beside Dublin airport.
the next Shows i no about will be on the st patrick's weekend.

    Hi,

I was planning on getting a little yorskhire terrier as i would send night and sleey time in my room. but I work 9-5 and have to leave him out doors for the day so i need a dog that can stay outside as well.

I am sectioning off most of my garden and buying a large dog kennel so it has plenty of warmth and shelter. when i get home from work i have lenty of time to excersie it and play with it. there is a young family next door with a baby so i need a dog that wont bark.

Can you please help me find my new best friend?

Contact a rescue in your area about adopting an adult dog. I don't think a Yorkie would be the best choice for outside living plus they can be yappy.

I have not the time or the energy cos I is knackered to read it all but PLEASE BE CAREFUL..always when buying a breed always insist on seeing the father the mother and the place they are. NEVER meet someone in a car park, or let them come to your place to show you the pups, these are common situations that occur with Puppy Farms/Factories

    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/hopeuk/puppy_farm_capital.htm

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3296091.stm

see these links, so please be careful, also there are specific rescues that specialise in breeds it would be great to get a specific breed get a nice home

I am sorry but why would anyone want a hybrid? I have taken in several over the years (and their parents) and I really hope that Ireland will be like mainland Europe were the cross breeding of Timberwolves is banned in most countries. If you cross a wolf with a dog you don't get a better dog, you get a half breed that doesn't know exactly what he is.

    Hello ^^

I'm looking for a Siberian Husky, I'ved tried going over the Net to look for Breeders and the like. But I've only found them in other countries, If anyone could direct me to the relevent people, Sites, Etc. It would be helpful -

I know this may not be the Thread - but Just wanted to ask on a Side note, This will be my first Dog / Pet , Since my Last Dog wasn't technically mine. My Father had an Alsatian -
Can someone link me to Tips on how to Care, Train, etc - for Dogs?

-- Side Note - : I live in Dublin , so any relevent Info around this location specifically would be Good~

I got a Siberian Husky in January. Can't remember the breeders name but was here in Dublin and will Probably be heading bak to her soon. So if she still there i'll get you the info. As for the training etc. we take her to obediance and social classes in the kennel club near Dub. airport. But I will say 1 important thing. a Husky is not the kind of dog that u can let off the lead cause if it catches somthing eg a person or dog, animal its gone and will not come back. without you chasing it.. Any of the trainers we've used have all said the same.

I would recommend an Alaskan Malamute to anybody. They are well worth the money to pay for a pup. I grew up with 2 and they are very gentle with kids and do not have that "extended" puppyhood that Labs have. Only be warned as they are very big dogs and very strong so need a strong person to handle for walks and plenty of space to run.

    Hi all,

I come from a household where we always grew up with dogs usually springer spaniels. We have a wee shih Tzu for the past sixteen years as a house dog. He unfortunately has died and my dad is distraught. We would like to get him a new dog for christmas and ahve thought about a king charles. Has anyone know of anyone that currently has puppies that will be available for christmas time. This puppy will go to a man who loves dogs and will not just be a dog christmas but one for life.

    Please let me know
    Kay

While xmas might suit some people to get pups because they are home during the holidays please don't encourage breeders by buying pups over the holiday season, also in a lot of posts there seems to be no mention of wether people are looking for a genuine breeder, people seem to be in a panic to buy pb dogs over xmas. Not saying there aren't genuine breeders out there but people please be careful especially at this time of year. Also pb dogs are being stolen left right and center, keep an eye out in case anyone offers you an adult or puppy in case it has been stolen.
Mods move this if you think it's no fitting but in the mean time please be careful who you buy from.
Btw rescues are bursting at the seams.
