Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a genuine ask, I only have a PS3 and have to wait a month or so (destiny *cough*) until i get a PS4 and this looks sooooo pretty

Took a few days , many doors , lisa and weird **** but I finally bet it

I put to many hours into a teaser thats not even a game

I may need to validate my life O_o

Well after playing that for a few hours tonight I find myself with a new found love for walking down a dark hallway on the way to bed. Opening doors into dimly lit rooms is now a pure joy in the small hours.

    NOT!!

Ffs, that demo was creepy. I still can't find the very last piece of the photo. Very middle one. Anyone know where the flip it is?!?!

    Press start then press r3.

Not exactly, it was completed by accident. It was only last night when all the pieces came together and the way to beat it was found on gaf

I just beat the final loop in 9 minutes, its easy when you know what to do.

So far it seems to be. But since they've been so tight lipped about the whole project there's no real way of knowing until they officially announce it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭Cravez

I'v heard that it won't be an Sony exclusive but wasn't an 'official' source so it's hard to verify.

Seeing this screenshot alot would make me 'NOPE!' the fuck out of there when playing the game, especially since it's rumoured that it may be Oculus Rift compatible...

Aw man, this would absolutely guarantee me buying Rift Morpheus although the cops might be called because they hear a Flanders-like woman screaming.

So does this rely on psychological horror or just cheap jump scares???

Definitely more on the psychological side, there was only 1 or 2 jumpy moments but they fit in well and didn't come across as cheap.

For the most part, everything is there already and you just have to discover it each time you walk through that hallway.

For me it's more psychological horror. The sound effects, the story on the radio. It was the first time I was playing a game and thought 'if someone was on the verge of being a psycho and becoming a serial killer, this demo could actually push them over the edge' Just really got that vibe off it :pac: The shrieking of the swinging light, baby crying, radio static with messages coming through, writing on walls, lights dimming and changing colour, the odd glimpse of a messed up image, all while in 1st person is very effective. Much more effective than Outlast imo.

  • Watched a few mins of it on youtube. Even it made me nervous, creepy.

Yupp that's in game. I remember walking around the corner, see your wan staring up at a light fitting and I just turned around and went back down the corridor I came from nope nope nope.

The graphics are brilliant, looks like a horror films, even though Hideo said he scaled back the graphics so people wouldn't guess it was konami's engine.

Ya I forget if it actually looked that good but the game definitely looked really good in general.

With that said.. Kojima did also mention that they turned the production values down a bit just so people wouldn't recognise it being the fox engine.

About five minutes into the demo and absolutely shítting it :o

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 10,518 Mod ✭✭✭✭5uspect

Yeah, it's pretty intense. I had an Eraserhead moment this evening. Really unsettled me.

I'm really impressed by how natural it looks. The lighting is excellent, the depth of field effect is really convincing and the mild fisheye effect works so much better than the distorting rectangular camera views we usually see in games.

Why does my hall have to look the god damn same as the one in the demo, I'm too afraid to leave my room now.

lads how do you restart the demo? I want to go for it from the beginning, mainly just so I can freak out my wife. I'm just stuck on an endless loop at the end now.

Went back for more pain :p

I made it to the final puzzle but couldn't make the baby laugh a second time. Tried countless times so I've given up again for the time being.

Bloody freaks me out hearing those noises :(

Agreed. Apparently Kojima has said they actually toned down the quality to make it seem more like it was an indie studio who made it. I expect the full game won't be quite a good due to much larger environments and stuff, but still, they did a hell of a job. It looks and plays fantastic.

The quality looked fairly brutal imo, so it's good to know that they gave us a toned down version, the jagged edges looked awful.

Huh? I thought it was one of the best looking games/demos on the PS4. It's ultra-realistic, the textures are photogenic.

Having said that I only played it for 2 min last night and had to turn it off.

Textures: Aw shucks! Thanks, you're only saying that! The FPS perspective takes a few pounds off though, I don't really look that good in real life.

The shadow and texture quality aren't great. The lighting and post processing are very good however.
