Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm new to UFC but really enjoying this year! I think getting a few scalps under the belt should be Conors priority now, i was looking at mendez/aldo there and it's not the type of fight you'd rush into. The hype has been working for Conor so far, but aldo looks like he'd enjoy it! Will Siver be a decent test?

Siver ia a step down in competition (they are saving him from wrestlers and keeping him busy until his title shot).

Siver is a decent striker so it might make for an interesting contest but a first or second round finish for Conor is to be expected.

Yeah Conor could have sat out, made a scene after the Aldo fight and build hype. maybe interrupt the presser like Tito did to get fight with ken Shamrock

Conor deserves respect taking unnecessary fights, he walks the walk

Siver! 35 year old Siver. Wow. That's a terrible match up for Siver.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,615 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

I agree that Siver is stylistically a good match for Conor. But I think people are going over the top with regards to how "easy" it'll be for him.
It's almost undermining the scalp before he's earned it.

Siver is no walk over, he'll be the toughest opponent other than Porrier. At one point, before losing to Cub (and his layoff) Siver was ranked in the top 3 at FW. And before Conor passed him out he was number 8 or so.
Look at it this way, if Siver stepped in for Cole Miller in July, or he fought Siver directly after Brandao people would talking about the match in a different tone.

Obviously I'm expecting a soon kick KO like everyone else. But I think it's wrong take it as a given. All this talk of whose next us premature.

Why bother probably paying more for a package when you could book it all yourself?

Check the prices for last years boston event for ideas

It is scheduled to be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 directly after the NFC Championship Game which is one of the biggest games in NFL. Should generate a lot of exposure for McGregor.

I had completely fogotten that Siver was one of the fighters on the first UFC Dublin card in 2009. McGregor was probably sitting in the stand watching and thinking "I could beat that German midget". :pac:

I went to a previous Boston event Randy vs James Toney few years back.

A word of advice, dont buy the cheapest tickets. The venue has some nasty pillars blocking your view if your up the back!

Keep an eye on the UFC site, usually about 6 weeks before the event. They will have details of where to purchase tickets when it is announced. I'm sure someone will up date it on this forum also

They give plenty of notice in the newsletter too.
If I hear the date, I'll pass it on.

They said it last week,...also Id presume fightpass members will get tickets a day or two before general release

The kid on the right there is Nate 'the great' Kelly. Seen some other pics on conors facebook. The lad with that tattoo is gas, has stubble drawn on his chin and all with marker

Rory MacDonald on Conor McGregor: “He’s on the cutting edge”

Two of the most exciting up and coming stars in mixed martial arts today, Conor McGregor and Rory MacDonald, have struck up quite the mutual admiration. The Canadian welterweight number one contender is currently waiting in the wings for the title fight between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler to produce his next opponent while McGregor will fight Dennis Siver in January with Jose Aldo a possible summer opponent.

“He’s on the cutting edge of some stuff I think.” MacDonald said about McGregor on today’s edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

“His movement, his striking It’s got my attention for sure, I want to emulate some of it.”

“He’s doing the right thing to get noticed quick but I think he would have done it anyway with his skill-set. I’m more a fan of his skills. The way he talks is the way he talks but I’m more a fan of his work”

He sounds like a big fan. He also said that he'd like to train with him and will even come to Ireland to do so.

Dustin Poirier will be on later, should be interesting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,273 ✭✭✭EuskalHerria

Poirier is a laugh and a half :pac:

Sounded like he had real trouble dealing with the loss, feel for the guy he seems ok. Still young tho he will bounce back

Assume this is the thread to ask Boston related questions?
Many heading over? Anyone found any decent deals. Assume tickets will be easy to come by once they are on sale?

Prob should of rephrased that. I mean like being at the ready to buy tickets when they go on sale. I would estimate they would be available a few days anyway.

A lot might sell to fight club members and pre sale so a lot of the tickets might gone, plus cards in Boston and Conor headlining.Tickets go sale the 20th.

    hope you get some:)
