Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Our sys admin was tinkering with trying to get one of our machines back online and behaving like it used to. Should all have been reversed and stable again.

I know after the ddos attack boards.ie have introduced more safety measures but I access boards on Opera Mini 4 which is the most handiest thing if one is after reading. Because it's compressing contents the Opera servers must be sending more request as usual so the hated re-captcha or whatyoucallit comes up and the Mini doesn't handle that. I still want to use Opera Mini and read boards.ie. I wonder could be anything done on your side to enable access? Thank you!

do you use the m.boards.ie site?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,666 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

Well one thing that the site has done now that it didn't do before the DDOS attack is keeping me logged in! Before the attack, I always said keep me logged in and it didn't which was annoying. But now I just go onto Boards.ie and there my account is logged in! THANK GOD....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,195 ✭✭✭padyjoe

No, I'm using the desktop layout which is a lot nicer to read on a small screen. (Don't laugh now, my main phone is a Nokia E72, sometimes android, that's why this Opera Mini thing. Probably not many of us with this setup this days. :) )

Go to www.b-static.net, it should bring you to the 'proper' main page of Boards. If it doesn't work the first time, just refresh the page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,823 ✭✭✭✭bear1

I've tried over and over and it just gives me the 404 error.

Clear your DNS cache, "ipconfig /flushdns" on Windows. Then try the site.

I've noticed that posting a reply using a quote from a double post wont work, the quoted text doesn't show up, if you try and quote from the first double post..it has to be from the second. Its like the first double post is blank.

I'm finally whinging... Ever since the very first attack months ago this site just hasn't been the same. It has become slow and frustrating to use. It's not a fun experience anymore.

I'm getting some site unreachable errors in my browser for the touch site where Cloudflare should have kicked in and indicated the site is offline. It's fairly frustrating when I've written a post and the site is unavailable when I submit the post.

Some come through no problem. Mainly from the talk to section then absolutely nothing from others.

We're trying to get our email back up and running today - we keep getting blacklisted after turning it back on because we send so much out and because things are now hidden behind CloudFlare, Spamhaus thinks we're sending fake emails and so blacklists them once again. It's proving very stubborn to get sorted, but I'll keep you as up to date on it as I can.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,031 ✭✭✭✭Johnboy1951

Just a stab in the dark here but is your SPF record configured correctly? You may need to add the CloudFlare IPs to it.

Thanks Niamh, Dav, and the systems folks for all the hard work they have done to fix our login and functionality problems.

OK Folks, we're going to be pushing out both a code and DNS change at 12 o'clock. For those of you in the know, you'll understand that this means inescapable down time whilst we wait for the DNS servers to flush and so on - with CloudFlare, this is really quick, but still not instant. For those of you who don't know what DNS is, it's basically the service that tells all the various hardware that the internet runs on across the globe where to send requests for data from any website.

So, what all this will mean is that we'll be offline and/or our static content (b-static.net) might be broken again. There's no better time for us to take care of this as Ronan and Andres are trying to get as much as possible sorted before Lunch so that there's still time to correct or roll back after lunch in case of emergency (again, anyone who's worked in this sort of environment will be well aware of the sorts of task they're facing).

If you want to see if any of your threads or threads you've posted in have been replied to then hit the number up in the top right to see a list of them, not ideal like email but Id have forgotten 20+ threads I was watching without it:
