A chance for Ireland to look good on the world stage and McGregor brings out that mentalist.

I agree with the first sentence but the second is nonsense. MMA fighters have too many weapons in their arsenal. Knees, elbows, kicks and grappling.

A boxer couldn't hold all that off with fists and footwork alone

I disagree because, IMO, a good, quick boxer, cognisant of the weapons he's facing, would have little problem getting any of the guys i've ever seen in this sport off balance, moving inside and then it would be over.

    Anyway, it's all just conjecture..

if that was a boxing match I would say it was fixed
mendes hardly tried, sat off mcgregor to make him look
good, oh well its better for business if mcgregpr wins
    and they say boxings fixed

Plus the fact that McGregor could throw a few punches and turn around and fix his hair in the mirror before Mendes bothered to respond.

Mendes was probably told to put on a bit of a show then take a dive for a nice payday. Months of Aldo/McGregor ****e everywhere now, even worse than the last time.

Is this the thread for all the posters who'd be banned if they tried talking rubbish in the MMA forum?

I don't know who are more plentiful in numbers, the people on the bandwagon who probably don't know who the Gracie family are or the begrudgers hating this fella for making serious opportunity for himself. He said he was going to do it, he did it. Same as always. Whether you like him or not, it's time to admit he's the real deal.

I've been unsure about McGregor for a while. Watching him tonight I can see now he's the real deal, he hurt Mendes badly with kicks to the body inside the first 30 seconds and that restricted Menses. To get up from that grapple though and just knock him out the wah he did was special.
I'm going against the popular thing in AH here and I'm going to be happy for a successful Irish person and not begrudge him.

Mendes to clinch it, McGregor is not able for a top wrestler IMO. Hopefully it'll be a good scrap.

    I think your wrong :)

    Conor looks weight drained.

He really did. I thought he looked weaker than Mendes, but Mendez looked well nervous.

I thought I'd watch it all sleepy eyed and calm, but it's very hard not to shout at the telly a lot during these things :o

Yep. Once his period was delayed the jig was up for the yank.

Couldn't disagree more about Mendes looking nervous. The week leading up to the fight he seemed genuinely excited and calm. He was pumped up right before the fight, he's a really laid back fighter .

Conor can say what he likes about being calm and in control during the fight, he was losing up until he dropped him with the left. It wasn't just happiness when he won, there was definite relief. Mendes is a complete gent, came off really well in the post fight interview and press conference. I'd like to see Conor move up to 155 and have him take the belt at 145.

McGregor now qualifies to use this as his entrance theme.
