Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Agree. Nice to see that following the one true religion is the best way to peace and stability for humans. Gotta love the hypocrisy early in the video - one of the letters was about wishing God would torture Dawkins and then ended with God Bless...? Dude, WTF?
I'm an atheist agnostic, I'm anti-religion, but at no point do I ever wish everlasting torture upon those I disagree with (unless they've actually done something clearly montrous like genocide or infanticide or something)

Awesome. I'd love to use that on one of them. When asked why we're still here mocking their god, if they mumble something about "respecting free will...", I'd respond with "Well...why don't you? Why do you get angry about us mocking your god if your god apparently doesn't mind?"

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

I remember seeing footage of him protesting the movie Dogma...the very same movie he wrote. No-one recognised him - the closest anyone got was thinking that he just happened to look similar.

^ Proof that humans go to heaven. After all, dog heaven wouldn't be heaven without frequent walks.

Of course, the humans have to choose between Dog and Santa. Difficult one.

It being heaven, the chickens will have to forgive you, so there'll be no hard feelings. Maybe a few awkward glances though, if you find yourself in the same harp classes as them.

Some relatively important and popular people who were burned at the stake were permitted to have a bag of gunpowder hung around their neck and tied around their waist. This would speed up the otherwise gruesome burning death.

Unfortunately for the ordinary Joe Soap who was sentenced to burn, no gunpowder and a much longer death.

I still remember the gory facts from secondary school history lessons! :D

Iceland to build first temple to Norse gods since Viking age

A word to the wise though - pick a better name than "Ásatrúarfélagið"

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/feb/02/iceland-temple-norse-gods-1000-years
Icelanders will soon be able to publicly worship at a shrine to Thor, Odin and Frigg with construction starting this month on the island’s first major temple to the Norse gods since the Viking age.

Worship of the gods in Scandinavia gave way to Christianity around 1,000 years ago but a modern version of Norse paganism has been gaining popularity in Iceland. “I don’t believe anyone believes in a one-eyed man who is riding about on a horse with eight feet,” said Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, high priest of Ásatrúarfélagið, an association that promotes faith in the Norse gods.

“We see the stories as poetic metaphors and a manifestation of the forces of nature and human psychology.” Membership in Ásatrúarfélagið has tripled in Iceland in the last decade to 2,400 members last year, out of a total population of 330,000, data from Statistics Iceland showed. The temple will be circular and will be dug 4 metres (13ft) down into a hill overlooking the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, with a dome on top to let in the sunlight.

“The sun changes with the seasons so we are in a way having the sun paint the space for us,” Hilmarsson said. The temple will host ceremonies such as weddings and funerals. The group will also confer names to children and initiate teenagers, similar to other religious communities.

Iceland’s neo-pagans still celebrate the ancient sacrificial ritual of Blot with music, reading, eating and drinking, but nowadays leave out the slaughter of animals.

Nowadays leave out the slaughter of animals? I wonder how the Norse gods feel about that.

"Ásatrúarfélagið" (thank you, copypaste) is what I want to shout when speeding into the heart of a supernova at nearly the speed of light while engaged in unspeakable sex acts with a four headed space goat.

Sadly, "ð" is pronounced like a softly-voiced "th".

    I think.
