    From my log:
    Monday, May 5th, 2014

    Distance Run

    9km in 1:01:54
    Pace: 06:52/km
    HR Avg. 153, Max. 167

Furthest I've ever run anyway. Not exactly Wile E. Coyote but I'll take it for a 120kg guy with too high of a BF% who pulled 250kg yesterday.

Finalized the biggest thing I've done with RevFit yet :)

-2 nights in a 4* hotel, bed, breakfast and dinner
-3 training sessions each day in their high performance gym which has 7 platforms, prowlers, sprint track etc (morning = mobility, afternoon = strength/power, evening = beastings)
-2 cryotheraphy sessions after the afternoon/evening sessions
-option to have custom meals cooked by the chefs

    Can't wait for July :D:D:D

Sounds epic. Is this just for trainers or open to all?

    Squat week 5

Finished my 5x5 squat routine on 100kgx5.

  • Registered Users Posts: 939 ✭✭✭chriity139

    35kg x 25 db chest press
45kg x 12 db chest press (4 more than last week)
50kg x 6 db chest press (1 more rep than last week)
55kg x 4 db chest press (1 more rep than last week)
130kg paused bench (easy enough, had to fight it 2 weeks ago)

Strength is coming along nicely. I think db are great for bringing on your strength on the bench when your stuck at a number

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭arse..biscuits

Did the first half of my strength test after 6 week program

    Bench 3 rep max - 97.5kg (up from 95kg)
Chin up 2 rep max 32.5kg (up from 27.5kg)

    Delighted with the increases

130kg x4 incline bench... 1 rep off my all time 5RM and probably had another rep in the tank :)

    Happy Tuesday b*tches!

    Tonight Back Squat@76bw - 90 kg 5x5 followed by 80kg x 20 with a 2 min rest and 70kg x 12. (All below parallel).

5x5 was nothing new, actually dropped weight from last week because I'd physio work done on my psoas' at 5pm and had to train at 8:30 and my psoas' were fairly fired up when I started squatting so though it best to take it easy on the heavier stuff. Then I got it into my head to go for 20reps. So 80kg x 20, then 70kg x 12. On the 70's had a short pause on the 10th rep, 11th flew up and I stopped dead in the hole on the 12th for what felt like an hour, got it halfway up and was spotted to the top. Nearly puked after it.

    2 x 28kg KBs for 10 swings.

Very tough to control the two KBs at that weight!

Hoping to get up to 2 x 32kg bells at some stage

I have started doing block deadlifts again. Straps, double overhand, no belt, sumo stance, about 3 inch of a raise. My best effort so far is 300 kg x 1 and 280 kg x 4 @ 77 kg BW

IIRC I have done better than that previously but that was with a slightly higher raise. I used to use thick bumper plates to raise the bar now I use stacks of rubber mats that I got in Woodies DIY. They work well and as the plates make a "dent" in the rubber the bar does not roll around or fall off the mats.

Also am doing conventional stance block deads using the same setup and then shrugs after lifting the bar. My best is 250 kg x 1 followed by 5 shrugs. The ROM on the shrugs would likely not be acceptable to some.

I was doing something similar for a while last year to help with lockout problems on conventional pulls.

I was probably using slightly higher blocks than you (the ROM on the bar was ridiculously short) but making sure every inch the bar moved came from hips and glutes rather than back.

Was able to move some ridiculous weight (relative to my 1RM pull at the time) and definitely found it helped with lockout.

    Bench week 7

105kg 2x1 new pb this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭arse..biscuits

    Front squat - 3 rep max - 102.5kg, up from 97.5kg - delighted

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,221 ✭✭✭A_Sober_Paddy

Tested my Bench press today, only managed 87.5kg for 1 rep.

Very unhappy about it to me honest, only a 2.5kg Personal Best.

On the bright side at least a new PB, really should you have 90kg:(

Same happened me after Smolov Jr, chief. Only time I've really been píssed off after the gym.

But sometimes you just have those days. Temporary glitch, that's all!

Yeah and failed it twice, got it down and up off my chest by 3 inches and just couldn't push it any further:o

I bet you would have got it if you had jumped to 90kg instead of 87.5kg.

Got a 113kg clean and jerk PB yesterday. +5kg on my previous best.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

Nice Dylan, clean looked so easy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭DylanJM

Nice Dylan, clean looked so easy.

Cheers! I don't know if I can say it felt all that easy. Standing up doesn't pose much of a problem but getting the bar onto my shoulders at all is a whole different story.

Any desire to dip back into weightlifting yourself?

Front squat PR: 120kg at 70kg bodyweight. Previous max was 110kg at 81.5kg about a year and a half ago. Not the prettiest squat in the world but still. Happy with that!
