34+1 today...yesterday when I was out a woman passed me with her tiny newborn in a buggy and said to me 'enjoy your sleep while you can'. I smiled but after she left I was like, wait a minute, I haven't slept since January..!!

Since day 1 of being pregnant I've been up minimum 3 times in the night to use the loo, and wouldn't go back to sleep afterwards. Now it's still the same in the third trimester and I read somewhere that this may get even MORE frequent, agh. Roll on next month when I meet my little girl who I'm sure will be totally worth the millions of midnight toilet trips :D

You poor thing, I'm 22+4 and already using pillows to get comfy. I got the leg support on in Lidl and then its prop prop prop.. different most nights depending where I most need it. I was a lot thinner this time (4st lighter) than my other 4 pregnancies and I notice the difference in bending down and turning over in bed. The only saving grace is I'm strong from the weights in the gym.
All my other babies were small. 5lb8, 6lb8, 7lb10 and 6lb10. My partners were all 9lb+ with one over 10llb :eek: so I'm not sure if its a bigger baby or a smaller mammy thats causing the problem :D

Can you get a day or 2 off work maybe close to the weekend to get a bit of respite, maybe try a pillow between you knees at night, or one or 2 under your thighs, it can take some pressure off your lower back by pressing it more into the mattress and giving more support, more pillows behind you keeping you more upright will help with the heartburn. I recently got a band for €14.99 for when I'm in the gym, it straps round the bottom of my tummy where the ligaments pull a lot and give me great support when I'm walking. Its just elastic and is adjustable, it may give you some pelvic support, I'd also ask your gp about getting some physio..
    www.emma-jane.com
click on the support belt icon and you can watch the fitting video
Swimming is great for relaxing and taking the weight and pressure off your lower body.. you don't have to swim, you can just float for an hour :) bliss in the very late stages. Also for a bit of relaxing at home if you get some epsom salts.. you can buy the 500g box for about €3 or €4 (or order a 4kg for about €13)and use the whole lot it gives you a great buoyancy in the bath and will ease sore muscles. Just don't drink the water :D
I've had 4 and it just some things I picked up or was told about, you never know, it might help ;)

I have a pregnancy pillow already and it does help thank you. I'm just moany today I think because I'm quite tired and a bit fed up.
My appointment went really well thankfully. Baby is doing great, got a mini scan this time again and the doctor spent ages showing me how much the little one has grown since list time and the baby was waving away at the screen which was lovely.
Each time I've gone they've said that I'm measuring two weeks ahead and so today's scan estimates the baby at 30 weeks not 28. I'm not changing the dates in my head though as I'm hoping that by not thinking two weeks ahead if I do go over in real life in my head I'll still be on schedule if that makes any sense?
BP was perfect, urine clear and all that stuff so it's business as usual. I did get a physio referral but I'm not holding out much hope of getting that any way soon. They said they'll call me tomorrow with an appointment as soon as they can but it could be a minimum of 10 days. If it's any longer than that I'll just go locally to my physio here where I live. I don't care about the cost at this stage.
I'll try a bath this evening and see if that helps. Also I got a voucher for Harvest Moon for my birthday and they have a special flotation tank and massage for pregnant women so I think I'll book that for myself soon.
I must try swimming. I used to do it a lot and quite liked it so there is no reason to think I wouldn't still enjoy it especially if it gives some relief.

Has anyone had extra discharge during pregnancy? I seem to have more after a busy day at work ( I work in retail) I've googled it and probably scared myself with what I read, I have a doctor app made for Wednesday but what if they think I'm just being a drama queen??

I get piles of extra discharge, especially later in the third trimester :) I use tena lady party liners, they're bigger than regular liners but not as big as period liners. Never be afraid to ask for a second medical opinion though, there's piles of stuff during this pregnancy malarkey that comes as quite a surprise :D

I'm only 16 weeks, so everything is getting second guessed, and this is my second pregnancy, damn leaving 9 years between the two, I can't remember a thing! Is yours white or what colour? Mine is very gooey I'm just nervous that it's the plug or waters leaking!!

Oh I know that feeling well :o Google is a blessing and a curse at times like this!! Mine has always been milky and sticky, very similar to my normal discharge, just more of it. Anything discoloured or that smells off is definitely worth education attention. (I'm 39 + 1 so I'm at the other end, I'm willing mine to be gunky and blood streaked :D). It's highly unlikely that you're losing your plug at this point, but it's always worth seeing a Dr. for confirmation when you're worried.

Yep extra discharge for me too. Does anyone remember the scene from The a Snapper when Sharon took a book from the library to learn about her pregnancy.....reading through it she came to a but about additional discharge and the camera zoomed into her face as she looked up and said " Jesus me fanny!!!".
Every so often I remember the scene and laugh a little.

I am just exhausted today. 31 weeks tomorrow. Not sleeping right for ages and 2 "late" nights at the weekend (bed at 11.30 sat and 11 sun ) have me shattered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,214 ✭✭✭cbyrd

The discharge is very normal.. extra cervical mucous caused by raised progesterone levels.. :D I laughed at the Snapper reference!! I love that movie.

It's quite astonishing sometimes to realise / be forced to accept (grudgingly) the new immovable limitations that we are now operating under isn't it?
I was in Brussels for the weekend and was destroyed last night when I got home and it wasn't even a hectic mad weekend I was on. The early flights and tying to see something of a new city despite no alcohol and early nights still had me floored.

I can sleep at will.. I have trained my 2 year old boy to nap with me in the afternoon and his 15 year old sister will mind the 4 year old.. i sit on the couch and wave his dodi at him, he grabs the blanket and off we go for about 2 hours :D I'd never cope without that nap.. 4 kids are hard work... wonder what 5 will be like

Actually, I'm not minding the "no alcohol" thing at all, as I feel fine the next morning despite being tired. I was thinking of keeping up not drinking for a while when I can actually drink again, but I doubt that'll last long!

I thought I'd really miss a glass of wine (or five!) while pregnant and I haven't at all. Would like to stay off it a while longer but we'll see how long that lasts!

Made it to 12 weeks tonight so I was delighted with myself. 1hr was all it lasted before I vomited at night for the first time (usually only every odd day in the morning and I had already thrown up twice today). I am wildly unimpressed baby!

Edit: make that twice. I want to sleep!! I don't even feel better after throwing up again

Congrats on getting to 12 Weeks! Sorry to hear you are having a rough time.

Me neither. I have had a glass or two (well ok 3) of wine during the whole pregnancy (one at my sister's wedding when the pregnancy was still a secret, one glass of bubbly to celebrate the pregnancy and one fabulous glass of ice cold white wine when we were on holidays in June) but haven't missed it much really.
The odd time when it got warm I'd have liked a cold glass of cider in the back garden when we had a BBQ but it hasn't been a hardship by any means.
The limitations I find I mind are being able to bend over easily to tie my shoe laces or pick things up off the floor and turn over with ease in bed.
Still and all I've had a few good nights sleep since the weekend and I'm feeling a lot better and more positive about the heavy lifting end of the pregnancy now.
I'm also getting increasingly excited about getting to meet my little baby.

I love wine, I love it when I eat, when I'm relaxing, with friends etc but I actually missed coffee more. Once I got some decaf for my machine I was grand.

Recently though I've really been craving a glass of red, especially after a stressy day (and I've had a few of those recently). It won't do me any harm to stay away from it, not only for babies sake, but because a stressy day isn't a very good reason to have a glass. In saying that I could be tempted by a glass of low alcohol sparkling wine or something. :)

With BBQ's and the likes I found that taking a non alcoholic drink and dressing it up up a bit helps me feel less "deprived", a big squeeze of lime in a glass of cranberry and ice is my current fave.

I haven't touched a drop but have a few little 'trick' drinks when socialising or if we're sitting out the back. One is elderflower cordial which is delicious when chilled, another is non alcoholic Becks lager which is perfect for BBQs and tastes identical to the real thing!

Funny, most of my friends and relatives with babies say you lose the taste for booze a little as minding a baby and having a hangover is not something that will happen ever again once you've been there once!!

My moan today is an itchy belly! I'm 38+5 so I think it's just stretched to capacity!!

I craved beer in pregnancy so non-alcoholic beer sales shot up! I also craved anything citrusy - lemon/ lime /orange.

And developed an aversion to rashers. :(

Becks, or Holsten have an alcohol free one. Erdinger too have a wiesbeir one.

Becks n/a is lovely, just like the real thing! I didn't like the Erdinger much, it reminded me of liquid bread...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,230 ✭✭✭Merkin

Haven't tried the Erdinger one, tried the Holsten one and wasn't so keen. I think Becks might be the best :)

I feel like a whale. And can't get comfortable, have PGP, physio and the pelvic support belt have been a life saver, but still can't walk much/drive/sit comfortably. Only 12 weeks to go!! But anyone having hip/back/leg pain ask about this, my mam happened to say it passing to her friend who's a physio in one of the maternity hospitals, and she came to see me and told me to get referred to the physio in the Coombe ASAP.

and to top it all off I have a glandular infection and am on antibiotics for the week!

I never used to drink that often before I got pregnant, but now when I'm fancying something on those hot days, I have a glass of lucozade pink lemonade with ice in it and it reminds me so much of Smirnoff ice which I drank when I was a teen!! Ah the good auld days

I'm tired and really want to lie down and have a nap. It would be a bit odd to do that at work though! I think I'll take Friday off all the same as I am exhausted and need a rest.
The funny thing is that I've actually been sleeping well enough over the last couple of days and nights but still I'm tired.
My SPD is back in a fairly significant way and thankfully I remembered to mention it when I had my ante natal appointment on Monday. I went down to the phsyio department before I left and I got an appointment today for July 29th. Hopefully it will do something to alleviate the constant discomfort.
I had a bath last night for the first time in ages. I'm generally not a fan of them but gave in and had one last night. It didn't do a lot to ease the SPD but it was relaxing. The baby was going through a pretty active phase while I was in it too and it was cool to look down and see the little one dancing away and making waves in the water.
29 weeks today and can hardly believe the time has gone by so quickly. I always thought that a pregnancy lasted for AGES and that 9/10 months was an eternity but these 29 weeks have gone by in the blink of an eye.
Now I'm at the stage where I'm getting more and more excited about seeing the baby on the outside and looking at what a wonderful little thing myself and my husband have made. He is super excited too which is lovely.
Bet you anything these last 10 weeks will drag now!!

Had my docs app for my discharge issues today, she took a swab, and sent it for analaysis in the lab, results back next week, she said by the looks of it that it's some kind of infection, but is unwilling to do anything until the actual facts come back.
On a side note today heard juniors heartbeat for the first time today, on cloud nine since :)))

I was thinking the same, hoping I go a bit early a week or two would be grand, i'm 31w on Sunday but I have a lot of pressure and shooting pains down below, head is down etc means nothing though really all common symptoms for the stage we are at :) I would love to take the day off on Friday, I haven't slept right all week. Fading fast today!!

My moan today is that I have another kidney infection and have been signed off work again until Monday. I imagine my boss is ready to disown me altogether at this stage!
I knew I had one and I ignored it as long as I could but my heart was racing, I was dizzy and could barely pee at all. So I'm glad now I went and got checked! Baby's heartbeat sounded perfect today :)
30 weeks on Saturday - I wouldn't complain if I went at 37 weeks (provided baby is ready and healthy!) because 10 weeks seems like aaages away now!
