Slammiversary will be in Arlington, Texas this year (on June 15th), same place as 2012. It was an awesome crowd there then.

Not a fan of what they did with the six man tag. Think it would have worked better as the one long match instead of splitting it in two.

Otherwise, I'd just be repeating myself in saying it was another strong show. I think all the shows from the UK have been of a high standard so hopefully they can continue that when they go back to Orlando next week.

Davey Richards has said he wasnt that interested in signing for WWE and wanted to go to TNA instead. He went through the development thing because Eddie wanted to do and they only had a chance as a unit.

Davey has been known to talk crap but if it's true, it would likely explain the six man on this week's show. Eddie out first and Davey looking like the star.

Davey talks a lot of ****e and is extremely hypocritical however I strongly believe he only did the WWE tryout for Eddie.

Why wouldn't WWE want Edwards on his own though?
Btw I haven't watched the last 3 weeks of impact & have them taped on Sky+ Are they worth watching before Lockdown on Wednesday nite?

I don't know about that. TNA still push Angle who openly said he would go back to WWE. Eric and Hogan never seem loyal to TNA. The company built around them. For someone who been with the company since day one and important asset they didn't show much loyalty to AJ. So don't know about Davey (Who never mention wanting to go to TNA in any other interview) getting a push because of this.

According to various newsletter Triple H has said NXT has "too many Tyson Kidds" - colourless, good wrestlers who will never headline.

However there were openings for tag teams. This was before WWE broke everyone up after doing a 180 on their tag division revival.

The same Angle who is being used to put over EC3, right? He feuded with Bobby Roode before that and lost nearly every match. Angle hasnt been pushed as a top guy in a long time. Not even sure when his last title match was.

Hogan and Bischoff were running things, thats why the company was built around them.

Styles wasnt an issue of loyalty, it was an issue of finances. He was the World Champion until his very last appearance and was allowed take the title and defend it in other companies. Not very many people have gotten to do that.

I only said the Davey thing because of how strong they booked him. I was expecting MVP to be the last man standing, not Davey. Considering how new he is, bringing himself and Eddie to TNA could be the reason he looked like he was getting the push.

They are worth watching. They are mostly very good. Only a couple of down bits.

My point is yes TNA was built around Hogan and Eric . Eric was working on pint size brawlers (Another wrestling show during his time) and Hogan was only there because he fell out with (One of the many times) with the WWE. Neither seem pretty loyal to the company. So let's build the company around them.

I would say having watching the shows Angle is still very much a top guy (I'm not sure how the match with EC3 would have went at Lockdown.) Angle has been very open about going back to the WWE it just more if they want him. But TNA will take him if the WWE don't want him.

AJ has been a stable of the company since day one and been there through thick and thin. Yes he left due to money, and neither one of us know his contract details, but my all accounts AJ was asking for crazy money. My point is being loyal to TNA doesn't seem to mean anything.

I knew their contracts were coming up for renewal. Bad Influence are set to miss four weeks of TV:

Bad Influence seem to be done with TNA:

    At least they have Lashley

It's four weeks, TNA are back in Orlando on April 10th. But yeah, hopefully they can come to a deal.

Hopefully with a commitment to do something more substantial with them, they have been keeping themselves entertaining for a long time now.

Damn you rovert for reminding me the irredeemably bad Bobby Lashley is back.

Not at all surprised if they want to leave. They know they will be in high demand so dont need to hang around for the scraps they have been given for the last year or so. The Jarrett stuff is probably also on their minds.

Did they have a proper match with the Wolves yet?
I am waaaaay behind on Tna at the minute. Typical of Tna with 1 step forward straight away its (at least) 1 step back.

A few weeks ago on Impact but it was too short to get going properly.

There'll be a former KO champ returning tonight. Tara, Winter, James, Kong, Love and Wilde? Am I missing anybody? Unless of course they're counting tag champs.

Rosita, Sarita, Hamada and Lacey are the only people missing if it's including tags.

Tara has said she wont be going back while Wilde has been retired for quite a while now. Kong is unlikely due to how she left. Think Lacey is retired too. Hamada was never used so dont see why she would go back, likewise with Winter.

Mickie, Love, Rosita, Sarita are what I have left. Hoping Angelina Love but think Rosita is the most likely.

Slightly related: Assuming Madison keeps the title until Sacrifice, she will top the chart for most days held. She is currently 24 days behind Gail.

Could always just be Tessmacher as well I suppose.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

She's still listed on the roster.

"Former Knockout Champion expected to return to TNA tonight "

Sounds like an outsider to me.

You'd think so (and it should be so) but TNA have always been very loose with their language when it comes to these kind of things (stuff like frequently referring to former tag champs as former world champions) and Tessmacher hasn't been on TV since October.

I agree but the fact that she never actually left is whats throwing me. They dont usually advertise stuff like that as a mystery. Maybe I'm just being too optimistic.

Watching Lockdown the last day, I have to say I don't like Abyss without the mask like that. He looks like Abyss with Joseph Park's head stuck on. Very weird

It's crazy how quickly things have turned around since Hogan and Bischoff left. Something that has been flying under the radar is the rise of the Knockouts again. They used to always have several storylines going at any time, Hogan and Bischoff reduced them to bit part players in favour of Brooke, last night three separate stroylines were promoted and the champion wasnt even included in a major way. Hopefully it isnt just a one off.

I enjoyed this show more than the England ones. The only complaint I have was the Rockstar Spud bit went a bit long. They could have cut it down and included something with Aries, Sabin, The Wolves, Storm or Gunner instead. None of them featured on the show while Spud got far too much time.

Fair point about the Knockouts getting more of a focus. But man that Beautiful People was something else. Total porn acting and verbiage scripted by a man.

Best things I can say is that I watched this Impact end to end without skipping forward too much. Totally on the Willow train and parts of Spud's remembrance of Dixie were sublime.

Maybe it was a decent night's sleep and the Bank Holiday weekend for me. :pac:

The tapings for the following weeks look crap though. Donning my tinfoil hat the belt stealing angle they run seems to be right out of the Vinny Roo playbook.

They didn't seem to tape enough for full shows, they taped four matches that are supposed to cover a show and a half. The last few months have been straight out of Russo's playbook, if he's not involved with them at the moment it's actually quite bizarre how similar it is. Maybe John Gaburick is just a huge fan.

TNA's next attempt at losing their arse:

Dot Net TNA News: TNA running three high-priced nights in New York City
    Mar 17, 2014 - 06:25 PM

    By Jason Powell
TNA is scheduled to run three shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City this summer. A source with knowledge of the situation tells Prowrestling.net that TNA is paying $300,000 total to the Hammerstein for building rental and production work. The TNA shows are slated to take place in June, July, and August. A message left with a member of the Hammerstein Ballroom management team was not returned before this story was published.

Powell's POV: One source theorized that this is a desperation move to impress Spike TV, which is located in New York, as the two sides have yet to reach a new television agreement. However, it is unclear whether Spike TV is paying a portion of the bill or if this is being funded entirely by TNA, yet it is believed that TNA management negotiated the deal with the Hammerstein Ballroom.

I can only imagine that this will be a controversial move in the TNA locker room. I'm sure it will be positioned as the company spending money to make money in a big market, but that might be a tough sell to the wrestlers who have taken pay cuts in recent months. If nothing else, this may help explain why New York native Bully Ray is now cast as a top babyface.

How much does it cost ROH? They run the Hammerstein a good bit.
