How many times have you heard the dismissive phrase "the deceased was known to the gardaí"?

    That's a euphemism

The cops and the media don't care about gangland crime, as long as the criminals are shooting at each other.

How many times have you heard the dismissive phrase "the deceased was known to the gardaí"?

This laissez faire attitude has allowed a culture to grow up of criminals settling disputes with guns.

The same police and media who have so little to say about this are horrified when civilians are, inevitably, caught in the crossfire.

All well as soft terms like "row" and "feud" which the media use to describe events leading up to the point of murder

The gick only hits the fan when one of the Garda gets hit. :(

How is the 'feud' term inaccurate? Most victims already know the person who shoots them.

Yet again Joe Duffy i accuse you of Grief Porn!

    You are a sick man.

"Noel Fitzgerald, sorry, I'm reading it out here." (i.e. it's the fkn researcher's fault, not mine)

He almost made a slip up there after the mobile was causing a problem - just started to say 'fire away' to the father of the shooting victim but stopped himself

There is actually no reason for this man to be on the radio...other than the grief porn needs of duffy and his researchers.

this topic should be discussed on a far more serious platform and chaired by a proper interviewer, not the liveline and joe duffy

  • Registered Users Posts: 199 ✭✭Conor84

Very tough on the families but why does the fact that a person doesn't smoke mean they are a better person?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,536 ✭✭✭AngryBollix

    Greyhound or Adoptions next?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,505 ✭✭✭baldbear

Knowing liveline they will have a inappropriate jennings funeral ad at the break.

  • Registered Users Posts: 741 ✭✭✭Stripey Cat

How is the 'feud' term inaccurate? Most victims already know the person who shoots them.

It is used as if it made sense of criminal murders, as if the victims were somehow to blame for being killed by belonging to a particular family or group.

It also paints the killers as if they were part of some sort of tribal society from the primitive past, who had less than full control over their actions.
