Having UPC HD, is there any real benefit connecting the stb to the revue, besides for pip? I don't mind having the revue as a separate unit to use for an Internet browser on a separate input.

you can control the box using the keyboard.

And do what exactly with the keyboard? Basically replaces the remote?

Has anybody tried various video formats on this ? Would be curious as I have trouble playing back my collection on most devices. Does it support NTFS disk drives ?

I got this one in post 5 of this XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874299
It connects fine and control's the Revue at set up but then fails before set-up is complete and un-pairs from the Revue.

I did a bit of reading on this yesterday.. Would I be correct in saying that in order to stream content (wirelessly) from my laptop onto the TV via the Revue, all I need to do is to install the Plex Media Server on my Laptop and then install the Plex Client via the Android market place on the Revue? Followed by a little bit of config on the media server and boom, Bob may possibly be your uncle?

My understanding of technology is fading as I age!!

What's the RAM of these boxes and processor by the way?
Basically a netbook/nettop specification: see iFixIt teardown of Logitech Revue.
Atom CE4150 1.2 GHz processor, 1 Gb DDR3 RAM, 5 Gb flash memory, separate 400 MHz GPU.
Would expect performance, particularly graphics, to be better than Apple TV, though ATV has more flash memory.

Set mine up there. No issues whatsoever. How can I side load apps? Install an apk from email? Thanks

Many ways to do it. Here is one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=h7n4_gf6580

Or you could use Box.com or load from USB.

It doesn't seem to let me install anything. I have unknown sources ticked. Says "cannot open file" on any apk. Plus, any apps I've downloaded from the market don't open. Just get a failure message. I've reset the market and no joy.

Edit: Just checked there. It sits "installing" but doesn't actually do anything.

Double edit: Working now. Had to reset the device

This may seem silly/simple but would faking the location of the box allow access to restricted things?

    Restricted things as in??

Some Market apps may not be available here in Ireland. Marketenabler is the only way I know to fix this and a rooted ROM is needed for that. But we don't have a rooted ROM.......

Lots of online content (e.g. Netflix) is also blocked but that is easily fixed with a fake IP address.

i was amazed as it was over wireless from my laptop (the logitech is connected through homeplugs)

as i tried it with my xbox (laptop wireless) (xbox homeplugs) and it barely worked

even if that is all i ever use it for i will be happy

    dunworth,
I just installed the logitech media server on my laptop.
The Logitech Media Player is already installed on my Revue
when I open it , it attempts to detect sources and then fails.
Any idea what im doing wrong?

    thanks

Right guys. ive installed the logitech media server on my mac,but the revue isint picking it up. My home network setup is a little weird so ill explain:

Revue connected via wifi to my router (A)
    Router connected to UPC

Mac connected via wifi to different router (B). This is on a different premises, but on the same power line.
This router is connected via home plugs to router A.
    Router A connected to UPC.

Router B connects no problem to the internet (via A) as does router A.

Is there any reason why the revue isint picking it up? Do I need to enable a setting on router B to push the data across?

    Thanks all

Just got my Revue today, so haven't had a chance to try yet, but have used Squeezebox Server (the forerunner to Logitech Media Server) for years.
    Suggest to start with:
    - Can you see the LMS home page? For example, if your Mac's IP is 192.168.0.100, when a laptop/PC is connected to router 'A', launch your internet browser and type 192.168.0.100:9000 as URL. This should pull up LMS home page. If you can't see this something (Mac firewall? Router port forwarding rules?) is blocking
    - Try enabling uPnP on both routers. May require this for DLNA to work
    - Connect Mac and Revue using cables (to be sure)
    - Is DLNA enabled on LMS?
    - Try fixed IP address with both Mac and Revue. If Mac is your server, better that this at least has fixed IP

I have found with Squeezeboxes used over Powerline adapters I needed to have fixed IP addresses to work in past, for some strange reason.

Let us know how you get on.
