Only reliably when the service launches. There is no launch date yet.

This is only an installation / engineering test phase.

I just wonder what they possibly have left to test.

Surely if they were working to the old time frame, all the testing should be completed?

Are the frequencies they are currently broadcasting on now, going to remain the same when they launch the full service? Anyone able to answer that question for me please?

At some sites they may possibly have new UHF antenna, with tighter directionality, that they may possibly not have fully calibrated against some UK sites which may have reported interference, along with ongoing testing at other pre-existing arrays at other RTENL sites.

No signal at all here in Cork City. I know it's only testing, but you get used to the better picture and the episode guide really quickly and its a pain switching back to analogue :(
Why can't they just leave the service on until RTE pulls it's finger out of it's ass?

What UHF frequency is this transmitter is using for digital transmission?

Maghera back but the signal down by at least 10% as against previously. I now get Cairn Hill and Maghera on virtually same strength. Maghera is my local TX and Cairn Hill im out of service area! I should add that C Hill is UNAMPLIFIED too.

    Regards,
They must've upped the power too, as I'm getting a stronger signal than usual tonight (usually hovering around 42-50%, tonight it's 90%) from Truskmore

  • Registered Users Posts: 788 ✭✭✭Souriau

Is it only me or are someone else gettting the same problem?
on TG4 the video and audio is out of sync
but the other three channels are fine...
    Cairn Hiill on UHF c.47

Can anyone tell me what frequency is it on Clermont Carn transmitter?

When UK switched off Divis transmitter for analouge their digital frequency will be change from 23, 26, 29, 33, 34 & 48 to 21, 23, 24, 26, 27 & 29 and the power will be boost up much more
I am glad to hear this new frequency as it would have clash if remain the same today.

As an aside to the reception reports, has anyone noticed how long a picture can take to lock? Are RTE using an extremely long GOP or something? Sound usually comes on instantly, video can take 5 seconds to lock.

I can't see Mt Leinster here as it is fighting with the UK freeview on ch 45 from presely coming in on my aerial for that.
However I do get Kippure which is very low and seems weather dependent.
I'm thinking that may be the cause of the power fluctuations people are experiencing.
