Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would give the benefit of the doubt to some though as bank transfer can be messy or difficult for some people. In years gone by paypal was available and was an instant transfer with no waiting periods. The lack of paypal this year has complicated things slightly.

In fairness, I probably would have set up a Paypal if needed but max four people out of the over 100 that pmed have asked about Paypal.

To be honest, I don't think anyone is gaining an advantage even if they know their score from two weeks. Its a 38 week game. Things change drastically very quickly.

In a competition like this where its just a bit of fun it doesn't really matter as long as people don't really start to take the piss! 2 weeks is a decent edge to have though.

It's not an edge though, they haven't cheated. They just had a better opening two weeks. As long as they expressed an interest before the deadline I say let them in.

Just because its not cheating doesn't mean its not an edge. Having two weeks to decide is most definitely an advantage even if its a small one. Not big enough to stop regular users in though I agree.

That's fair enough. But they need to pay pretty quickly. Anybody that confirms they are joining by tomorrow but still does not pay should be blacklisted. At this stage everyone knows the score and the deadline has been moved twice and people are still hesitant to pay up with indicates that people are waiting to see how their team fares first.

I don't think we should be breaking the rules to get the magical 2K. It's just an arbitrary number and i don't care if prizes are nice round number.

So what is the deal now, is the deadline set to 7.45pm tomorrow to confirm entry. If so i'm ok with that but i wouldn't be ok with people confirming entry after that. People have had over a month to join which was ample time.

I'd definitely give regular posters until 7.45pm tomorrow. New sign ups or zero post wonders should not be allowed in at this stage.

Is it just me but i find it very difficult to believe that so many have genuine reasons why they can't get €20 transferred to Lemlin's account in over a month. Surely it's a headache he could without.

I think with the pot so big that €40 for the monthly prize is affordable and worth winning and keeps things interesting if you do fall behind(we can't all win).

Just my opinion and i'll go along with status quo.

    Great job Lemlin.

Yeh being out of the country is only really an excuse if you've been gone for 4 or 5 weeks at this stage and didn't take the little card transfery machiney thingy (I believe that is what they are called) and anything else really isn't an excuse at all for anyone at home there's really no reason they can give why they couldn't spare 30 seconds to transfer some money and save Lemlin all this hassle after he's been good enough to put this on for us all.

Agree with this 100%. I think 40 euro monthly keeps those of us that aren't pros at the game in the reckoning. Also there should be a cut off of people joining by the start of gw2. Any longer just reeks of angle shooting.

General consensus (although I don't agree with it personally) seems to be:

People have until 7.45 tomorrow to confirm they have transferred the money to me.

Therefore we'll go with that. I will pm the individuals now.

I've 27 hours to decide if I want to join myself so.... one minute I think I should and the next I think leave it.

And before anyone mentions it, if I join, I pay. Please don't mention me having free entry because its only €20 and mrwillbeback did it for years and paid in himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,810 ✭✭✭✭jimmii

If anyone wants to pay vis PS then PM me for my SN and I will send via BT to Lemlin. Did the same for the UFPL league earlier happy to do it again if its something someone wants.

Given the amount of work its taken to set this up I think its only fair that you should be remunerated for that time in some way.

I may be in a similar situation, happy to transfer to PayPal but having some online banking problems. May have to drop out, unsure my boss will think it a good enough excuse to take a long lunch tomorrow, which has been the issue from the start really :p I'll know for sure tomorrow though.

A few pms coming in now. Looks like a few are having trouble with code readers and were putting off entering. I really think that we need the paypal option for next year to avoid this. Happy to take paypal payments over the next 24 hours for anyone that can't do a bank transfer for whatever reason.

I'll get to a bank tomorrow.

Sorry if the delay has annoyed people. I understand it's difficult to trust strangers on the Internet, but it's not due to looking for an advantage. Real life got in the way at the wrong time and I couldn't get to a bank whenever I managed to think of it.

Well I can either set one up or someone like yourself takes the PayPal payments and sends then to me when all are collated at the end.

That would work too. Main thing would be just to have a paypal address to communicate as an alternative. If you want someone else to help with that, fair enough.

I can help with the paypal payments for now.

    €2000 Total.

My own feeling is that someone winning a monthly prize should at least get a profit on what they put in. It's not much of an incentive to just win back your entry amount. €30 I'd see as the minimum monthly amount. €10 profit for someone for a couple of pints!

    10 x €30 Monthly Prizes = €300

Leaves €1700 (exact figure still to be confirmed) for other prizes.

The €1700 could then be split:

    First - 45% - €765
    Second - 25% - €425
    Third - 15% - €255
    4th - 10% - €170
    5th - 5% - €85

If the total isn't €2000, I can just still keep to the percentages above. I know the figures are odd but the percentages is a nice way of splitting it out and allows me to do same whatever figure we have when everyone has paid.

This prize structure looks good to me.

I agree minimum of €30 for the monthly prizes. 40 would be no harm but 30 is fine.

€35 for a monthly prize maybe?

remaining €1650 could then be divvied as follows:

    First - €750
    Second - €400
    Third - €250
    Fourth - €150
    Fifth - €100

Personally i feel 1st place should be getting more than 350e over what 2nd place gets. No need to give prizes for 4th or 5th (or even 3rd really).

I don't get the idea of monthly prizes but i'm not knocking it. I think a bonus for top on christmas day would be nice.

Either way it's Lemlins baby so i'm easy.

It's the community's baby. This isn't a dictatorship! I'm just holding the cash. Will distribute it whatever way people see fit.

I do think monthly prizes are good though. They give a chance to someone who is out of the running for the main prize.

Top 2 or 3 payout out of 100 players is a bit cruel, you can finish top 5% and not get anything. I'd vote money back for monthly prizes but am perfectly happy with the structure Lemlin posted above

Prizes are locked in. If we go over the 2k, I say we just add any additional 20s onto the winner's prize fund.

    10 x €30 for the month
    1st €850
    2nd €500
    3rd €200
    4th €100
    5th €50

    I'd like to see:

    10 x €40 monthly prizes - €400

    1st - €800
    2nd - €400
    3rd - €220
    4th - €110
    5th - €70

First place should be well rewarded and I think that the monthly prizes should be €40 each instead of your €20 back.

That's my favourite that I've seen so far, the only thing that's nagging me now is the thought that if we reduced the monthly to 20 we could easily get a clean 1 thousand to the winner, now that would be a competition worth winning.:P

First place should be well rewarded and I think that the monthly prizes should be €40 each instead of your €20 back.

    I like this one too!

I think the top five should get something at least. There is like 100 teams after all. Certainly top 3 anyway whatever about top 5. And imo money back for monthly winners is the best option

I'm a fan of this option but would prefer a €30 monthly prize so:

    10 x €30 for the month
    1st €850
    2nd €500
    3rd €200
    4th €100
    5th €50

What do people think? Would like to try and get this firmed up today because I'm off work and off to Mallorca after the weekend to spend all your money!!

I still prefer to go just €20 monthly but for €30 this looks good.
