Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So am I right that there hasn't been a podcast since the 19th of February ?

Yep. Was half expecting one this weekend.

    Are they on hiatus?

Who knows. There is no real way to find out. I don't think Ray tweets anyone back @ntnpodcast :o

Would be cool if there was a set day for it every week or fortnight like most podcasts, but really they are just doing it for a bit of fun I guess, so it's got a loose format. It's only really when they've all got time they can get one done.

I was really enjoying them, has gotten me into podcasts again. I have the Foley 98fm Show podcasts, Nerdist, Adam Carolla, The Anfield Wrap and Steve Austin to keep me going in the meantime! :)

So it's nearly a month without a podcast from the lads and I worked out where shauna and nordy were doing that podcast thing but apparently that's no longer happening.

And in the podcast that I found out the name of the podcast shauna and nordy were doing at the time, ray said he wanted to do two podcasts a week.

I understand that al and the lads work different hours and you would have to arrange to do it, but I liked this podcast.

What was Nordy & Shauna's podcast called? On podbean?

No it was on frq.fm and it's a communicorp thing.

Just a thought, but with the lads off 98 this week, I would think it's a great time for an NTN podcast some evening, (unless they've gone abroad of course), so if they don't do one this week, is it fair to say they've finished up and are not going to do any more? :(

Yea there’ll be more, we’ve just been lazy. Also, we’ve been hanging out in real life… ask @rayfoleyshow

    Nice work!

Read the whole conversation, Alan's sign-off tweet is hilarious. (in a cruel way)

Longest gap since they started----Think they are killing this podcast and any potential following!

Its been more than 2 months now, starting to think we may not get any more.

Yeah, I'd say it's probably safe to say it's most likely dead at this stage.

Shame if it is really. The lads and Al are always fun to listen to.

You'd wonder if 98FM stepped in and had a quiet word with him over it...

Hopefully not, someone said that al said on his twitter that they would do more but that was a good while back now.

Any other podcasts of a similar nature to this?

In terms of guys just sitting around talking sh*te?

The Dismal Jesters is a good one. A bit crude perhaps, and leans towards video games, but well worth a listen. Might be a bit hard to get into, it can be a bit in-jokey.

    Ditto The Comedy Button.

Would be really interested in other suggestions too.

Really enjoyed that episode. And I'm glad Ray actually wants to do it again. :)

Al doing Garth Brooks was pretty damn hilarious I have to say. :pac:

D'you guys reckon Shauna and Ann will return? Probably unlikely now that Shauna has a show of her own I guess...

    New pod up. :)

Haven't listened to this latest one, but I have to say I liked last week's one trying out that new format. It's cool to have a few mini conversations rather than one giant one.

Gotta love the ntn podcast. Haha

Had taken my time listening to these since its return as I had picked up other podcasts while it was gone, but I'm glad I didn't give up on it altogether. So funny. Al and Ray are great together. Before, I was always waiting to see who else would be along for the podcast with Ray, but I'd be more than happy just listening to the two boys, obviously I think JP will be great if he returns though, that goes without saying! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭youngblood

Al seems a little more palatable this time round for some reason.......
They made reference to the "fagg@t" comment from earlier podcasts and explained themselves, their attitude towards its usage may have matured a little which was good to hear...
Great to hear em again, I wonder will any of the others join them at some stage, v enjoyable

    New ntn podcast up

Loving that the podcast is back regularly and this weeks started off well with the lads trying out the clips and beds to give it more of a show feel which would be great! I do miss JP and Ann though and hope they return for next week's!

I didn't really like that, the thing I enjoy about this podcast is that it has a loose, 'real conversation' feel which kinda ruins the authenticity that they seem to be going for. It ticks my box as the 'just a few mates having a laugh' podcast and I feel that adding production would tempt them to try and spruce it up, so you'd lose that authenticity in the process. That aspect put me off the Ann & Al Podcast, they tried to be both loose but run features and gimmicks at the same time. Leave the production stuff for the main show.

  • Registered Users Posts: 900 ✭✭✭IUA14

I do like them just chatting but I feel there needs to be more than just Ray and Al for that so if they had Ann & JP on it aswell I think it would improve it as it can get a bit visual with just the two of them!

I was barely containing belly laughs listening to that episode at my desk. The whole thing at the start about JP was just hilarious.

I think we'll be getting a new episode soon. JP made reference to missing a recording on yesterday's radio show, so hopefully we get something this Sunday. :)

Probably didn't get enough time to record much last week. I know he said he wanted to keep them in around an hour long. Maybe that's it. When I seen there was a new post in this thread I was hoping it was someone saying a new one was up!

I dunno if he forgot to put one up or not cause he was saying he read out a podcast email in the last one but it was just him and Alan...don't remember that.

Anyways good aul podcast with Ray and JP, randomness! I do miss Shauna on them I must say, her and Ann were great on them but I guess TodayFM has stopped them both appearing on them?

  • Registered Users Posts: 319 ✭✭postsnthing

great to have it back, voicemails are a weird thing to obsess about !

There seem to be some serious grief which he constantly alludes too and keeps saying we will talk about it - so ok im interested talk about it !!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭wnolan1992

I always thought they were just taking the piss when saying Today FM had stopped Shauna from being on the show, but there seemed to be some genuine aggro there on the latest episode... Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

nope i defo think you are right, shauna seemed very reluctant to interact and the way she reacted when ray mentioned about them being on the podcast also the way he was so negative about today fm now after the call to her, but that could be a dermot and dave thing !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭Chip Whitley

I feel like the podcast hasn't found it's groove yet. A lot of the time it just feels like a podcast is getting going and it's over.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy it and am a regular listener but the potential for this podcast is huge I feel and they could maybe sort out all the messing around with Skype and sound issues beforehand and get a settled 3 man crew for a few episodes in a row. I miss the banter between JP and Al.

Not the mention the D'Arcy thing. There defo seems to be genuine animosity there and wonder did it start before or after the departure. I know it's different staff but aren't both 98 and Today owned by Dennis O'Brian?

Good podcast this week. I love that 30 seconds game but Al and JP got tired of it after a few goes each.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,009 ✭✭✭✭wnolan1992

Lost my sh*t when JP was like "Are they not into that 'scissoring' sh*te?" :pac:

Been listening to a few old podcasts while I work tonight, and now I can't stop saying "Wha-ta-f*ck!" and "Oh jeeeshus!". I need help. :o
